  • Yeah.....Pennsylvania.....I haven't seen my family there in 3 years, and unfortunately, this time we're going because of a funeral. Still, it'll be great to see family and visit Kruger National Park. One night, while we're in the park, we get to sleep in a hide, so we can see the animals but they can't see us!!! It's right be a watering hole, and there are absolutely NO humans within at least ten miles..... no electricity or running water (but there is a toilet ) just our family and the animals..... right now we're getting ready for the 20 hour flight to Johannesburg tomorrow.....
All good books are alike in that they are truer than if they really happened. And after you are finished reading one you feel that all that happened to you and afterwards it all belongs to you: the good and the bad, the ecstasy, the remorse, and the sorrow, the people and the places, and how the weather was.

    • 20 HOUR FLIGHT! I throw up on short flights, so don't expect me to be going anywhere that far anytime soon.

Yeah, my telescope's awesome, I was just looking at the moon a little while ago. It's so pretty, and I could see a few craters. I want to see Jupiter and Saturn soon, but I'm going to have to figure out how to find them first....it's going to take awhile to get used to star maps, seeing as it took me half and hour to find the moon. I could see it just fine of course, but then it took a while to get the telescope on it, and then I had to keep adjusting the scope because the moon is, of course, moving.

      • Hello everyone.

I apologize deeply for not being on here in like FOREVER. But life takes me and I have been unable to come on.

I hope you guys remember me???

Anyway, college has been.... eventful. I made a new best friend with one of my roommates. I have a boyfriend. <3 And I have made a ton of new friends with the people at my school. It's crazy. Right now I am home for break, well in North Carolina (which is technically my new home now). There's nothing really exciting to do here, so it kinda stinks. BUT I did get to go to the beach the other day. It was real nice.

I just found out Tuesday during the day, my roommate/friend's aunt just passed away from a massive heart attack. She was only 59. I feel so incredibly bad for her... I just don't know what to do. I just know her family is going to be in my thoughts forever.

        So... besides that....

How is everyone doing? I wish I could have the time to go back and read everything from the last time I posted, but I am afraid I don't have the time to do that.... I barely have time to be on the computer for "fun". I'm usually on there for homework, or I'm out with friends. It stinks, I miss you guys terribly!!!

I hope everyone had a great holiday!

        Loveeee

        Emi
Time passes. Even when it seems impossible.
Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise.
It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me.

        • I've gotta apologize, too. I feel like I missed so much! *Somebody* did something stupid, and *someones* parents took their phone and computer away...

Needless to say, I've plowed through season two if star trek: tng, started in season three, and watched 8 episodes of MASH last night (1st DVD of the 1at season). Right now I'm typing to you all on my itouch. It was one if those "hidden in plain sight" deals-- the case looks just like my iPod's case! Haha! Score!

Okay... Getting a telescope for Xmas us aaaaaalways awesome. =D Is it one one of those ones with the gps? Mine has something like that, but we could never figure it out. =P

I woke up this morning and there was snow!! Great, since it rained the other day and literally washed all our snow away. It looked like it hadn't snowed at all. Kinda depressing, eh?

Oh! So I set the smoke detectors off last night!!! It was really funny. My dad had just gone off to a fire call, and I was making bobili pizza. It was in the oven... almost done, actually... and then BEEP-BEEP-BEEP-BEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Darn thing did its job, but it wouldn't shut up! Haahaaaaa.......

          Smoke Detector: $10
          Fire Department Pager: $35
A Fireman's Kid Setting Off The Smoke Detector Minutes After He Went to a Firecall: Utterly Priceless =D

          • You guys are so lucky to have snow. All I get in SoCal is tons of rain. On the other hand..... it's a balmy 75 right now. X)

Happy New Year to you too, Nick.

Inkslinger: Hah, tell me about it. Did you see the SoCal social group? Ink.Knight and I are the only members at present, but it would be fun to have someone else join.

In a mild, interested way, did anyone notice how many people signed up as members purely for the AWoM contest? Now, don't say it's the pot calling the kettle black, because I'm guilty of the same crime. The difference is that I stayed. Hee hee. And proceeded to post far more than is good for me, my sanity, this forum's sanity, my computer's keys, and probably the whole darn internet.

                Just kidding.....mostly.....

                • I had waffles for breakfast today. =) And stayed up late with my LOTR marathon... unfortunately, my dad kept falling asleep. My eyes were getting droopy too, so right now we're in the middle of Two Towers.

And... I have to ask. WHAT is SoCal???

Poop. There was a YW moment in my night, and now I can't remember what the joke would have been. In any rate, at midnightish, my dad and I went upstairs to assault my mom, and the dog came up on the bed to jump around for a bit, too. Teehee. Sometimes that monster is worth it. =P

                  • SoCal=Southern California, that's my guess. A group for Young Wizard Forums members from Southern California.

No my telescope doesn't have GPS. I did get a really good deal though, the telescope was orignally $270 but my parents bought it for a little less than $100. I subtly hinted at what I wanted for Christmas by emailing my mom the link to the specific telescope I wanted.

Ohmygosh. My mom won't leave me alone. Somebody save me!!

                      • I know it's awesome! My parents used to do it all the time when they were DINKs (Dual Income No Kids)

Have any of you guys seen the TV show Glee? My friend is obsessed, and she got me obsessed too.

                        • Yes, SoCal is Southern California. And NoCal is either Northern California or a very diet-friendly food.

Surprisingly, it hasn't rained much this December at all, though we did get some in Nov. and Oct.- which is backwards from the usual weather flow.

Off to write my delayed Xmas thank-you cards...ugh. I do apprieciate the kind gifts, I just hate my own handwriting and the effort it takes to make it legible....

                          • DINKs? That's... wow. Whereever did you get that term from? It's like the sound the sink makes when the pipe's broken... dink... dink... dink. Teehee. Our most exotic vacations are when we go A- up to upstate NY to visit my dad's side of the family or B- when we go down to north carolina to see my nana & pop-pop. I'm such an east coast brat, haha.

And Glee, hmm. Well, my Nana's obsessed with it too, and my friend Jake, who's totally cool and not preppy at all, says it's awesome. Of course, I somehow think it's still some High School Musical ripoff, even though everyone keeps telling me it's not. I might actually break down and watch the first episode if I can find it on TV Shack or such.

SilveredBlue- have you tried writing slower? My handwriting goes really bad when I try to write faster, and even though I think it's ok at the time, I looked back and it's crap... writing slower can be a paaaain, but it does work... have you tried script? Sometimes that can be fast and still look neat. =)

OHANDBYTHEWAY I totally got Photoshop. I'm having a freaking blast. Somebody give me ideas. Or something. It's awesome. Oh and I'm watching Medium. And suddenly strangely hyper. Wheeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!

                            • I got DINKs, um,...from the former DINKs, my parents.

Oh, cool, I was watching Medium last night too. Or my mom was. And I saw part of it, right after seeing the pretty full moon and taking pictures through the telescope.

Yeah, Glee isn't exactly a musical. People don't randomly burst into songs, and people around them don't randomly start to know all the words and dance moves and sing along, they do it for a reason: Glee club.

Okay, okay, maybe one of these days I'll actually break down and watch it! =)

So in keeping with the randomness... my mom talked to her friend at 10 this morning. She started cleaning like a madwoman. (Ok, not totally unusual) At 12, the house was spaaaaarkling. Then we go to the bank to deposit some checks, and I learn the woman isn't coming until 4. Four!!! And they're only staying for about dinner, cuz they're picking someone up at the airport. At 7ish. Which means they're leaving way before then. Um, hello? The Philly airport is a mess. All the time. Crazy.

Is anyone else's mom's like, super-pyscho-Martha-Stewart-cleaning crazy? When I was younger I used to call my mom Martha Stewart on Steroids. One thing she hasn't grown out of, I'm afraid... O_o
