Your logic escapes me ... how are you a math geek if you hate math?Originally posted by Lisa:
Moeen, the quotes are funny, at least to a math geek who hates math like me. (Yeah, I'm weird.)
Over 1000 quotes?! I didn't realize you could write a post that long. Mind if I ask why this "quote pelting" took place?Just keep 'em a little less, and don't worry. I was the worst offender of the "quote pelting", with a post of probably over 1000 quotes. :O
Everyone here is really nice and forgiving. Welcome!

Kaiba, I'll start the fic as soon as possible. Which means in my language...a few days. But my schedule suddenly got very full. Birthday party tonight and tomorrow (for Stephie!), library stuff the 9th, 19th, 21st, my sister's birthday, my dad...and...(say it isn't so) SCHOOL! Not for a month, but still...Oh, and I meant to use "heartless" twice, because the last verse was kind of a spinoff.
Erm...I'm really good at math. I take advanced classes and all, and it just works to me, so people tell me I'm a math geek. A common insult thrown at me is "Go read a math book." Unfortunately, I really don't like math as a class. I rush through everything, and even though I understand it, I get lots of things wrong. Plus, the teacher makes me take the long way instead of shortcuts. And it's the only class I get anything lower than "A"s in. (Oh well...B+ is okay I guess, but it keeps me from getting All-A honor roll.)Moeen

Quote pelting? Someone asked for funny/inspiring quotes - he even made a whole topic - and I "collect" quotes, so I put my whole list there. Big mistake. Oh, and you can't make posts that long. I had to cut about half of it off...there were still about 1000...
Alla, it's not that I don't like to run barefoot, but I had a chair and an umbrella in my hands, and couldn't walk very fast. Barefoot's fun, as long as your feet aren't burned!
I'm on AIM (but I've only talked to Steph), Windows Messenger (but I don't use it), and Yahoo! (but I don't use it). Technically, I'm not supposed to have the AIM or Yahoo! ones, but Steph helped me set them up.
I just finished The Naming, and I don't think The Riddle is out yet here. Same thing with another series, the Chanters of Tremaris trilogy: the first two, Singer of All Songs and The Waterless Sea are out here, but the third one is only out in Australia.
Hm...I just realized that I told someone I was going to talk about Wicked in the last post, but I didn't. Sorry! Well, here's what I think of it, even though I haven't seen the play or read past the first few pages of the book:

Sorry to hear that, I know what you mean when teachers force you to do things the long way. I found junior high school math to be rather slow-paced myself. In high school, however, they do things a bit differently, so you should be better off by then.
I never got teased myself for liking math, but I guess that's because I only got into it when I was in high school, which I found very different from junior high. There was this really great math teacher that got me interested, and I ended up joining the math team, which had a totally different atmosphere. In fact, you were teased for not being able to do math. Team members would sometimes say things like "if you can't do this problem, you shouldn't even be here..." I don't think they got too carried away with it, and we had a lot of fun. If we were told to "go read a math book," we'd probably be fine with it.

Ah, so _thats_ where I heard of those books from. I found one of them for the first time in a bookshop yesterday. It looked alright. I was tempted to buy it, but I'm a little short on money at the moment.I just finished The Naming, and I don't think The Riddle is out yet here. Same thing with another series, the Chanters of Tremaris trilogy: the first two, Singer of All Songs and The Waterless Sea are out here, but the third one is only out in Australia.
While I'm on the subject of books, has anyone here read any of the 'Secret of the Unicorn Queen' books? Its a series of 6, written by different authors and it was first published in about 1989. Except for the first two (which have been rereleased), they're out of print
. I've been searching for them for aaaaaaages. I can find them at odd times on ebay, but they're rediculous prices...

Well I figure its impossible to read 446 pages of background history on the TOPIC OF GREAT RANDOMNESS.... so.... I guess I'll just dive in! How is everyone? I see alot of new faces, and some old... Sadly not that many old faces
Well since I've been gone for a while I'll give a brief synopsis of my summer so far.
Slept.

Sleep writing? Theres an interesting concept. I'll have to try that some time. I usually have a notebook and pen next to my bed - or under my pillow, especially during study time. Hope you had a good summer, Defender!
Well, I probably should be doing study at the moment... chemistry, maths, physics (why did I just nearly spell that fisics?
), but I have a link that I think everyone should have a good laugh at
The Dalek Song - its based on the llama song, but with Daleks

hehe, this afternoon we ran into one of last semester's physics tutors. He's an American and pretty cool. Had a bit of a chat on the bus on the way into the city. I'm so glad that I'm studying in Australia rather than the US now. It was an interesting insight into the US college system.

I only have the computer for a few moments, or until my grandma comes back inside, which could be any minute. I don't get why she is so opposed to computers, but there you have it. Why did my parents leave me with her for a week? Sorry, just a little rant-crazy thingie.
Just got back from cross country. It is SO hot out. My cross country team is so crazy. We're looking for "contraband" to put up in the locker room. Contraband: anything we can take off tree lawns, or steal from the garbage that we can put in a locker room. We find some really weird stuff. But they took the couches we found last year, because they said they were a fire hazard. PLEASE! They were COUCHES! And it's not like we put them in front of the door or anything...
I'm just kind of tired, and don't really know what to post. I'll see you all in a few days hopefully, if not sooner, depending on when my grandma is out of the house and when I'm alone...dai for now guys.

HAHAHAHHAA Alla I think your one of my new favorite people. I LOVE Doctor Who!
Okay well anyways the wierdest thing happened today near my town. I was driving down 97 through Wenham coming out of Beverly and it looked like there had been a localized Hurricane. There were three uprooted trees and one was a HUGE one. Also there were fallen branches everywhere and leaves covering every inch of road. But the wierd thing is that it only effected about a half mile stretch of road.

Recently I found this cool website called Bookwrap Central, http://www.bookwrapcentra.com/. It features video interviews from some of todays authors, inluding DD!!!
The video can be found at this link http://www.bookwrapcentral.com/childrens/ .
It's in the top row on the far right side.
Some other authors on that same page are Cornelia Funke, R.L. Stine, Neil Gaiman, Lemony Snicket, and loads more (especially in the other sections).
Enjoy!
