There was some problems with it a while ago - i think it was while I was on holidays - that other threads kept popping up in it. Is that what happened, people who were here?

ech,I'm sick right now, I have a cold, and it's been really bugging me so I stayed home from school. Actually, this is the first time I've stayed home from school all year even though I've been sick before. I hated it though, because it seemed whenever I was feeling really bad and icky, there'd be huge tests or group presentations and things I couldn't miss so I had to go and suffer through the day anyways. *sighs* but, today I was able to stay home!! (and hence, feel icky here instead of at school where I'd be sitting in desks for 85 minutes at a time coughing up a storm and constantly having to blow my nose).

We started karate in PE. 'tis fun!! we just learned the Form we'll have to perform in front of my teacher at the end. So far we've learned down blocks, cross blocks, upper blocks, punches, front kicks, side kicks and roundhouse kicks. I am not very well coordinated, but it's still amusing!!

I had another thing to say, but I forgot it. rats....

ooh, Alla, I have loads of stuff for you to do when you're bored!! I just so happened to compile a list from stuff in my favorites the other day and emailed it to myself so I could use it at school for my friend and I to have something to do when we're bored in Java class... Today was super depressing. I actually felt like crying the whole day through. (a few tears slipped out after school I admit.) I'm SO PISSED.

Anyways, It's new semester time, which means most people's schedules don't get changed but some people's do...here's my new schedule.
1st hour-Algebra, I used to have 3rd hour Algebra with all 7th graders but I have no 7th graders in my new class.
2nd hour-Music studies, a class for people who don't know how to play an instrument, I've been playing piano for seven years talk about boring
3rd hour-Science, OMG I almost cried in this class I was so upset because the people in this class are so rude to our teacher and we get double the homework and they talk SO much and are SO annoying. Somebody shoot me. (I used to have 5th hour science with all of my friends.) Plus all the preps are in this class and preps annoy me.
B LUNCH-2nd lunch I used to have A lunch because I was spoiled and A lunch has the best food B is OK
4th hour-English, I like the kids in this class but the teacher gives out triple the homework in my old class and she always sits around snoring looking just as bored as we feel.
5th hour-Social Studies, whew! A small class of people I hate! How could this get any worse? The teacher sucks too. I was spoiled being in a Social Studies class where the teacher is really nice and she teaches you a lot about the culture and how to speak different languages and how you play games and stuff. (although she gave out a lot of homework it was always fun.) Now the teacher just assigns questions 1-5 on Austrailia and doesn't talk about anything.
6th hour-Art, I like the subject but the people I sit with are all my worst enemies. I hate alphabetical order.

I'm not done. I told my friends and all there schedules are the same AND I told my dad and he gave me a lecture on life. And you know what?

Zgirl, I know how you feel. I have no friends in any of my classes. At all. And in english, my favorite subject, I absolutley hate my teacher. She makes english boring, and she seems to have this thing against fantasy. She said we're going to read a book from every genre this year in our free-choice novel units, but I checked the list she gave us and there is NOTHING for fantasy or sci-fi. The last book we were supposed to read was a classic of out choice, and when she was going over the project in class, she said "I know some of you are reading fantasy or science fiction, and that's ok but..." and basically said we should try to read at least one other novel that wasn't fantasy. I really don't like my teacher. Out of the six times she let us actually write something in our journals, four of them had to be a review of a realistic fiction book. I can't stand realistic fiction. I mean, she acts like she has to approve the books we read, like it's her choice. We have to keep a log of what we read, and I read a lot. The minimum is 150 minutes, and I usually end up reading 6 or 7 hundred. But if the log doesn't get signed by our parents, we lose points. I've lost quite a few points that way. I really hate my english teacher. She's not the only teacher I don't like, but if I were to rant about them all it would take several pages. I've even started crying at school several times, not that anyone noticed.

Sorry about the rant. I've just had a lot of troubles with her lately, and I need to tell someone who hasn't heard about them yet.

Sure rant here! Ranting is good. It's better than writing poems. I have a book of 46 poems all titled 'just shoot me' they're pretty interesting...violent...but after I write it down I feel a lot better. Before I felt like crying after school but now I just feel like strangling somebody. (Big step up huh?) Oh. I'm still pissed.

Do you remember the name of the form? Katas are really complex, and they wear out upper belts a lot more than beginners because tehy're doing it correctly. There's so much involved, not just the move, stance, and sequence.

I was on all night last night and the whole morning today and there was no one there, and just when more people come to the chat I leave...oh well. Thanks for posting those sites, Abby. I had the day off of school and I got really bored. Those helped a lot!

Rant time for Aurie.

I'm somewhere between angry and miserable. And Exams aren't a small part of it, either. . . I'm so stressed and generally pretty angry at the world.

It doesn't help that my dad's mad at me and currently refuses to even look at me. It's not normal that a fight between us lasts this long. And I'm not going to be the one to give in. Because this is MY LIFE. Mine.

He wants me to go into engineering, but I want to go to law school and become a lawyer, because, I knew, the first time I read the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, I knew, I totally loved this subject. It's such a beautiful piece of writing, really it is. And now that my Law class is into Criminal Law, it's so interesting and I absolutely love it. It's math, without numbers. But the road to being a lawyer is a pretty rough one, and it's a pretty tough career choice. But I've got the grades, I've got the brains, and I've got the stubbornness and tenacity, which really when you get down to it is a lot better than just brains because it takes over when the brains run out. I don't want to go into engineering. And it's MY life. Not his. So I told him I didn't want to go into engineering, and I would take my chances with Law.

Then he told me that the only thing I was good for was making him angry.

That hurt. I spent half my life pulling the highest grades imaginable, I'm easily a top student, and I work my butt off studying about three hours a day, and I don't even get a pat on the head with a "good girl." I spent so much of my life and energy trying to catch his attention and praise, and that's what I get. So then I told him that.

And now he refuses to look at me, let alone talk to me.

God, I hate this, I hate everything. There are some parents who would love to have a kid like me- I don't smoke, don't do drugs, pull high grades, don't have sex, don't drink. I hate this. I want to move out. It's not fair. I don't deserve this.

But neither of us are going to relent anytime soon. We both have the same stubborn nature. And we both believe that we're right.

It's MY life. My career choice determines what the rest of my life is going to be like- I should be allowed to choose what I want to do, because I'm the one that will be spending the next forty years or something in it. It's my life. Alastair told me that I can do anything if I try hard enough to, and frankly, that ideology's a heck of a lot more entrancing than not trying something because there's a risk, and subjecting myself to a career I am not happy in. I believe that I can do anything if I try hard enough to.

I think my dad thinks that he's doing me a favour by trying to get me into engineering. He thinks I'm going to fail in law. Because he's always played it safe.

My mother just doesn't get involved. She just tries to be the mediator. That's fine too. I don't mind that.

I only have to live here for another year and six months. Then I'm out of here. And once I'm gone, I'm never coming back.

-I think you should choose law, you do have a strong point that it's your life. Plus you can help many people in law. (You help people in engineering too but it's not as direct, my dad is an engineer and he is starting to dislike his job.)

I think you are totally right. You should be able to decide your own future, because you're the one who's going to live with it, not your dad. Zgirl has a good point--You can help a lot of people in law, many more than in engineering. And even if it turns out you don't like it, it is still your choice, no one else's. I've had similar fights with my dad, over much smaller things. They didn't stop until he went to Iraq over a year ago...but that's another story. Good luck with your studies and everything.
