  • Remember the room in the Department of Mysteries with the raised dais and the arch w/ veil from the fifth book? Personally, I think that's where Harry is, the "curtains" are the veil, and the shadowy humanoid shapes are the spirits behind the veil.

Oh, and Young Reader? The hooded creatures you are referring to are called dementors. The hand looks like it could be a dementor's, but you can sorta see the face, so it's gotta be Voldemort because you can't really see a dementor's face.

    • thank you SO much! *can't think straight through utter hyperness at the moment at some points* if that makes any sense...i'm fairly certain it's conflicting. *Shrugs* but you CAN see a dementors face...you just usually DON"T cause they never take off the hoods. there's a slight difference, and said difference makes ALL the difference. still, i don't think that's quite it...to much of a coloseom look for it to just be behind the veil, at least to me...but i COULD be wrong. either way, i don't think you can make too many assumptions without knowing who or what the hooded person is for CERTAIN, because who the surrounding people are can change DRAMTICALLY with the person. and the veil takes them entirely out of the equation, at least towards what we're seeing....and while i usually wouldn't expect to see something as big as a veil to the world of the dead in ONLY one book, there were a LOT of things there we may NEVER see again or get an explanation for...so why would we see just that one thing again? what would make it so important, unless they planned to bring serious back, or see a spirit, or something of the sort.
      I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.

        • JKR will probably not kill Harry, although I personally would not mind if she did. He's really getting on my nerves.

Hey, I reread Harry potter and the Order of the pheonix, and I found this paragraph:

"This room was larger than the last, dimly lit and rectangular, and the center of it was sunken, forming a great stone pit some twenty feet below them. They were standing on the topmost tier of what seeemed to be stone benches running all around the room and descending in steep steps like an ampitheater, or the courtroom in which harry had been tried by the Wizengamot. Instead of a chained chair, however, there was a raised stone dias in the center of the lowered floor, and upon this dias stood a stone archway that looked so ancient, cracked, and crumbling that Harry was amazed the thing was still standing. Unsupported by any surrounding wall, the archway was hung witha tattered black curtain or veil which, despite the complete stillness of the cold surrounding air, was fluttering very lightly as though it had just been touched."

It's the same one gigo35 was talking about. I thought things would be clearer if I posted it.

Yes, it looks exactly like what's on the cover.

          • ya i guess... i was talking to a friend of mine the other day and we think it does lead to the relm of the dead. but why would the ministry put that there without a back door. it would be stupid not to. what if an important person fell though then what ? there has to be a way to get him out, their has to.

                • how do you have a backdoor out of the world of death? i mean, making a door there is just working on OUR world...making a door back out mewans working on THAT one! and once you're there, i'm not sure you can really do that...besides, the dead might object! and even if they didn't...do you really WANT every dead person to be able to come into our world if they figured out how? it just doesn't necessarily seem like a good idea....

                    • Oh yeah, I remember the myth of Orpheus. His girl/wife, Eurydice, dies, and he goes to the realm of the dead to get her back. Hades lets him take her, but she will only live again if he doesn't look at her until she is above the ground. Like all tragic tales, he would look back at her when she's still below the ground, and loses her forever. It'd be interesting if Harry had to do something like that.

                      Lessee...

Okay, bear with me for a bit. Wiki says:

Dumbledore was said to have a "gleam of triumph" in his eyes when told that Voldemort had restored his body using Harry's blood, at the end of Goblet of Fire (Ch. 36). Rowling has confirmed that this is "still enormously significant".[40]

And we know that Voldemort's weakness, and Harry's "power" is that the latter can love and the former cannot. Perhaps, since Harry's blood circulates through Voldemort, some powerful emotion of Harry's may be felt by Voldemort. Maybe, if Harry were to feel a powerful, loving feeling, it could be disastrous to Voldemort. That's really the only way I can see that Voldemort's return with Harry's blood would make Dumbledore feel "triumph". On the other hand, I could be completely wrong, but anything's possible until the book comes out.

                      • Oooo, love the idea, Marina. That makes a lot of sense. I've always wondered about that scene, I mean, it's not exactly what I was expecting when Dumbledore seemed pleased that Voldemort used Harry's blood.

I can't believe that the next book is actually the last one! *wipes away imaginary tear from imaginary eye* Oh well, I guess everything has an ending sooner or later.

                          • It was cool. I can't wait for the next movie to come out. What did you guys think about it? I personally am not happy that the actors will be changed for the last two movies. I've gotten sooo use to the ones we have already. But I guess everyone has to grow up sometime.

As for actor changes. I highly doubt it. IMDB has Daniel Radcliffe listed as announced and pre-announced for HBP and DH, and I have heard interviews in which the three mains say that they're gonna stick it out.

The next movie looks like it should be good - they've pretty much just been getting better as they go on. I do not thing Deathly Hallows, however (as in the book), will live up to expectations.
