I have a chronic pain disorder that also causes me to be hypersensitive to pain and not as sensitive to strong painkillers as most people. I forgot that so many new people would have no idea about that, and in the light of not knowing, that post does seem rather dramatic, doesn't it? *g* Sorry! I am really sore right now, but I should be okay. Internal bruising at most. I fell pretty hard, but I'm used to pain. And can't call a friend over at 1am - at least not here, lol, since very few of my friends drive and there's no public transport to this place after midnight. But I'm watching CSI: New York on my laptop. Does that count?

Seriously, I appreciate the concern, but don't worry. I'm alive

    • Ahaa. That really stinks. =(

I'm kind of the opposite, lol, I'm okay with pain, doesn't bother me much. I remember when I broke my wrist in like, 4th or 5th grade, and I didn't even start crying until my dad was driving away from the school to go to the hospital... hahaa.

CSI definitely works. At the moment, I'm watching Bones actually... =)

      • I think maybe I wasn't very clear. I'm in pain constantly, every minute of every day, and I feel it more than most people. But that doesn't mean I react to it like crying if I break my wrist or something - I only ever cry about it when I'm writhing in agony.

Basically, I have a low pain threshold, but a high pain tolerance. I dislocate multiple joints on a frequent basis and usually put them back in place by myself, and I've had six concussions in the past twelve years and eight fillings without any anaesthetic (because local just doesn't work on me).

          • Osteoporosis? Fortunately not, at least not yet (early-onset runs in my family, so I may later on!). I do have other things though: hypermobility-type Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, fibromyalgia syndrome and rapid-cycling bipolar disorder (non-typed). Oh, and asthma, but that doesn't bother me nearly so much as the others. I've been on disability since I was 16 (nearly 24 now), use one or two walking sticks on a daily basis, and I end up in the emergency room on an average of three times a year - most of the time when something dislocates, I just put it back myself rather than wait 3 hours in the ER.

*gives you a virtual hug* Thank you. Life with this collection isn't easy, but I get on with it as best I can. But today has not been a fun day - winter never is, especially when I fall over. *old-lady-grumbling*

            • Well, I was thinking of something else when I said "brittle bone disease"..... I think I'm watching too much ER. Yeah, I'm a hospital kid myself, born with an awesomely defective heart and a not-so-developed lung, so I feelya on the asthma bit. Definitely not gonna be a track star, here. Strange how it makes you feel the *need* to run sometimes.

Here's the thing about me and snow... my mom thinks it's pretty, my dad thinks it's a hassle, and I think unless I'm in a car 4-wheeling over it, I don't much care for it. I'll throw snowballs and go sledding, but when I was walking back from the dining hall to my dorm tonight, i was hit with an icy blast that made my chest seize up. Yeah, we're definitely getting snow soon. I woooon't be too happy about it. There's definitely an age where snow stops being fun.

You need a fuzzball. Or... as normal people call them... a kitty. =) Something to snuggle up with besides a laptop and those CSI people

              • Oh, I have a kitty. Four of them, actually. They just can't live with me right now - I'm in transition between houses, so the original three live with my dad and stepmother because I live in the city and they don't like traffic, and the fourth one, Puffin, is staying with friends until I finish moving house (early January). I get to visit the first three when I go down to my dad's on Sunday. I love cats.

I can't run, though. I try that, my hips subluxate and that lands me on the floor. Can't climb more than three stairs without it happening either - it's annoying because hips are so awkward to relocate.

                • Gahh! Forget the bubble, you need... erm... well, a wheelchair, I guess? And a little fuzzy curled up on your lap. =) My mom texted me a picture of my two cats, both on the radiator, one curled up and the other curled up next to him but with her paw outstretched into her brother's face. Teehee.

Sunday's almost here!! (Closer for you, anyway)

Do your cats meow back at you when you meow at them? Mine do most times, and it's really funny...

                  • They do! A lot, actually. Two of them don't talk much at all, but the others make up for them. And yeah, I'm putting off the wheelchair thing as long as I can.

                    • Oh, poor Triala! And....wow. Eek. Wow. You need a hero medal, big time.

That really put my allergies and asthma in persepective.

Yes, I DO want to switch coasts, Wolf- pleease? I want to actually feel real cold....

Random stuff: I'm typing when I should be practicing piano....or doing a module of physics. I really don't want to do the physics- although it's funny, because in my textbook there's two modules (they take two weeks each and have a test- equivalent to about a chapter, I think) on Newton's Second Law and about three paragraphs on the First and Third. Rather amusing...

                      • God, what I wouldn't give for nice, beautiful weather! Quick! Let's think and wish really hard and trade places!!!!!

Hmm... random stuff for me.... I have an English final tomorrow that I really should be reviewing for, since it's the only final I want to look stuff over for... and yet... I don't care... hahaa.

                        And YIKES. Physics!
I used to take piano... my mom thinks it's amazing that I can hear a tune and plunk it out on the keyboard.
I'm not good, but I still have it in me, lol

Change of topic: Is it legal to say where to find fanfic? Not to discuss it or even put a link up, just to say the site? I know where a few very good fanfics (that really stand out from the rest, which have a high junk quotient), rated G, can be found, and I wanted to share them, they're so good. And no, they're not mine.

                          • What? I mean, what on earth? Why on earth would it be illegial to post where to find fanfic?? I mean, posting links to rated R fanfic, sure I could see that, but... but... where is that emoticon?!!!!

                            • Blue, yeah, links are allowed, but if they're on LJ and by labellementeuse, she's already on this site and she is good. She and I co-moderate the YW fic community myriadwords together. BTW, thanks for the medal suggestion. *chuckling* I know people much worse off than I am, though. I can at least manage to live on my own; one of my closest friends has fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and renal damage, and she can't, she has to live with her parents still, even though she's a few years older than I am.

Yay piano! I no longer play - back problems put paid to it - but I do sing. Just finished the last concert of this year with my choir, and I'm so glad we have, because it means that I can crash now - though I'd have preferred not literally! :P

                              • Shhh, Wolf. Calm down. Technically fanfic itself is violation of copyright, but most writers will let it slide because it brings more people to their original work.
