  • My so-called "Christian" school consists mainly of Republicans. *rolls eyes* Algebra is linear equation stuff and we have to find out if the equation is linear and write it in standard form if it is. *sigh* I get it, but I don't...

    • linear equations don't have powers... cept to the power of one... and standard form is...

      y = mx + c where m = gradient and c = y-intercept

      is that what you're doing?

      • Hey to everyone!

I was on here yesterday but my post on ToGR was the last one so I didn't figure that people would be too happy if I posted again.... *sigh* So... I waited until today.

And just so ya all know... I am a Christian and no one told me who to vote for (sorry Gryphon.. but true)... that was entirely my decision... so please don't lump me in whatever broad catagory you lump other stupid ignorant people (as Diego puts it). Contrary to your belief... I am not that wierd... really Bush won by a majority, what more can you ask for? That is the way the country is run. I am sorry that you are disappointed and I understand that. It is what I felt like when Clinton got into office.

But also, understand, that my beliefs are not here for others to persecute. I don't think that I should be called names and conclusions made about me just because I voted a certain way. That is silly and immature. I have talked to a lot of people recently and lost (uhh lemme count...) about 4 chatting buddies because of the way I voted. My gosh people, grow up (to those 4)! People have different preference in music, movies, books, food, but that doesn't stop people from being friends. Why should a political affiliation change anything? I had one tell the forum in general (on another board) to treat him as an adult because he felt that he was nearing adulthood, yet he is being a bit petty and calling people names. Ya know, in the real world, that really isn't very mature or adult-like. If people want to be treated as an adult, ya have to act like one.

I really don't want to get into it that much here... I just don't think that I should have to read posts that criticize my person for my affiliations. When forumers post such negative about other people, regardless of who that person is, it makes people (including me) less likely to want to chat, be friends, post etc. So, whatever you find yourself saying on here, please remember that how a person believes shouldn't be the butt of jokes or ridicule. The uniqueness of self is based upon our opinion and every opinion is valid. And no one should have to suffer from the typing of anyone because of their opinion.

Well, I have said my peace and if the name calling and whatever persists, I will probably quit posting for a while. Just remember this... I have never come on here and blatantly trashed a person for what they are, simply because they are different than I am. Different is good... thank God that no one is like me.

All those people just peering out their windows to get a good look at you. Of course, I was one of the people. I, however, was more interested in the cops. One of them <i>spit into the... oh, what's it called.... the thing being pulled by the truck filled with dead trees. I mean, how rude of him! Hmm... I wonder if they're still there. Probably not, 'cause Sara stopped barking. Yay! I have only a little bit of homework! (A real surprise considering how long it took to be given the assignment in Lang and Lit.)

Alla- that's not exactly what we were doing... Oh well I got 100%. We did most of it in class. *grin*

Wow, we actually use b, not c. Funny. They're still the same things, of course.

Wait, lemme see if I can hook up my calc...

              • Oh, we learned y=mx+b in grade nine. . . I had a really bad teacher and slept in class, but still got 92%. Ahhhh those were the days. You're still dealing with real numbers, feel thankful for that. . . o.O

y=mx+b is the slope form of the equation.
                ax+by+c=0 is the standard form. . .

And I don't remember the rest, which is really crappy 'cause I'm a peer tutor and I should know this stuff, but it's gotten to be second nature to me to be able to change them so it's not like I remember how to do it. I should review that sometime. Except I don't have my grade nine math textbook. I loved that thing.

                • I'm lazy sos I'm gonna change the topic the way I always do.

Drama Club had our first production of the year and it was awesome, we were watching the tape of it and it was so awesome, except you could barely hear anyone and then I came up and I was really loud, and that's supposed to be a good thing, except everyone was all, "it's not fair! She gets a lot of practice!" *smiles guiltyly* I do admit to quoting various books randomly during breaktime.

Which leads me to telling you something funny that happened during Social Studies. We were studying French and the Low Countries, and I was reading my paper out loud to the class, and instead of saying Netherland, I said Neverland. Lool, It was funniest because everyone knew I was obsessed with Peter Pan.

Okay, I think they should kick this one kid out of concert choir, he didn't wear a belt and during our performance, his pants fell down to his ankles TWICE!! He ruined everything!
                  Okay, I'm done.
... But he was looking through the window at the one joy from which he must be forever barred.

                  • lol! I hate it when guys don't wear belts. (none of them do) sometimes I don't feel like staring at their boxers all day. Actually one of my friends' cousin (matt) got his first pants like that...
                    CHARACTERS-Z, Matt, Liz
Liz:Wow you look a lot different in a brown shirt
Z:Yeah a lot different than that red sweatshirt you always wear
Matt:I got my first pair of black jeans! And look! (lifts up shirt.) They're falling down too!

                    • Oh, oh, that is slope form. I've nver seen standard, and I only just learned point and two point this year. Point and two point are pretty useless, but they're easy.

To solve for m, which is the slope of the line, you use this:

change in the y over the change in the x

Written as triangle y over triangle x.

So if you have two points of one line, this is what you do:

Point (2,3) Point (5,4) [first number is x, second is y]

                      3-4 / 2-4
                      = -1/-2
                      = 1/2

It's the same as 4-3 / 4-2; the order of the points don't matter.

                      Point slope is
errr... scratch that. I can't remember it. Two point is the exact same, 'cept they replace m with the 'change in y...' equation.

Hehe, g'job, VC. *dies laughing* Yes, I know your obsession too. I oughta pick up a copy sometime; I've never read it before.

His pants fell down to his ankles? twice!?

Heh, we never have that happen. Shirts need to be tucked in, and they can't be tucked in if they fall low.

About the calculator, my computer won't let me upload any pictures because I can't install the program that lets me. Installing the program, according to my computer, will permanently damage the computer either immediately or in the future. GRRR

                        • *is sad* ... my cousin and i had a 'philosphical disagreement'about the US election and she's blocked me from her MSN list because of it... ok so its the second political argument that we've had (the other being in relation to the Aussie election - for the same reasons), but it really hurts that she's blocked me just cos of that... anyways... i sent her an email explaining what i thought:
No need to get worked up over something like that. Its just politics. It has been proven many times over that a country will not change its government in the middle of a war. That's whats happening in the States at the moment. So what, he's made some stupid descisions, but sometimes thats what those in positions of power have to do. They have to make descions that no one likes sometimes. I know both bush and howard made some descisions that no one really liked, but that they had the strength to make those descisions, shows that they were suited to the job - that they had the guts to do what they believed was right.
Can you imagine the havoc that would ensue, had Bush not been elected? Chances are, there would have been more terrorist attacks on Americans, and then Kerry would have been forced to react, making people not like him. Its a vicious circle. He's only around for another four years
And this is what i got back...

oh, give me a break. they made stupid decisions so they're suited to government? they're absolute dickheads, the both of them. They have caused the deaths of TENS OF THOUSANDS of innocent civillians. They've lied and cheated. They're right wing conservative and want to do away with things like abortion. As for thinking they've made the right decisions because things would be worse with another government, well I think we'll just wait and see. I cannot believe anyone could support bush and the disgusting, DISGUSTING injust things that he has done. Go see Farenheit 9/11 and you'll see what a economic agenda that entire 'just war' had.

The only good thing about them being in is that they can both sort out the bloody mess they've got the world into. ****ing morons.
The thing is that i can see where she is coming from, but i have my own opinions, that i'm going to stick to. Does anyone else care to voice an opinion to this matter?

                          • I just got back from Books-A-Million!!Funfunfun. I got 3 Terry Pratchett books (Mort, Equal Rites, and Wyrd Sisters), Faerie Wars, and six Young Wizards books that I'm supposed to forget about because they're for Christmas. At Books-A-Million they were playing Christmas carols already. It was so funny because they played the one I'm learning in Latin, and I kept accidentally singing along with it. After that we went to lunch at a little deli/cafe place and brought home chocolate tarts. I just finished mine. . .Mmmm.

I'm more than halfway through TTOGR!

When mom was checking out the books at Books-A-Million I went and read some. . .Bad idea. My libraries still don't have Snakecharm, but now it's worse because I'm a quarter through it.

                            • alla: About changing leaders in the middle of a war. I heard this metaphor recently. Say you are in a car, and the driver has no idea what he's doing and you get into a terrible accident. Are you going to get back in the car with that driver and drive away?

I disagree with the opinion that if John Kerry were elected there would be all these terrorist attacks on the United States. That's basic Bush campaign propaganda. What makes you think that Kerry wouldn't keep us safe? Just the fact that he's not Bush and Bush is the only man for the job? But if we ever get out of Iraq and Bush gets us into another war, and we're in the middle of that for four years, we HAVE to change presidents. And the situation could be even worse then. You may say that Bush would have learned from his experience in Iraq, but he still won't admit that he may possibly have made a mistake.

Social issues: Bush is a right-wing neo-conservative and I am not. I just have this little thing against limiting the rights of other people, namely pregnant women and gays. No man has the right to tell me what I cannot do with my body. Gay people are people. Just because it makes some people uncomfortable doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to get married. I am a Christian. I am a Catholic, even. But in this respect I will form my own opinions. My religion says that gay marriage is a sin. The other things that are identified as sins, (murder, theft, adultery, etc.) are about hurting people. Who does gay marriage hurt?

The economy: I am fourteen years old and I am not looking forward to paying off the deficit during my adult life. Both candidates pledged to cut the deficit in half in four years. This is unlikely.

I do not want my opinions to offend anyone. They are simply my opinions. I have tried as hard as I can to not be sarcastic (sometimes it's difficult for my when talking about politics). If you disagree with me, please tell me why. Civil discourse is a great thing.

Anyway, auditions for Les Miserables at my school were today. I'm not hoping for anything more than a chorus part. I really, really, really hope I got in though. Wish me luck!
