  • Being a political minded person, I have to agree that for those who don't live in the US, looking at it from the outside is an odd thing. It's that whole...planet policeman theory. America is in it's teenager phase: acting like it knows everything, and thus should control everyone else.

    Now then.

As I am a US citizen, I can see where being one gives definite advantages. Capitalism is by far the most effective way to create a first world country. Which of course leads to that whole theory of having to create a completely different world in order to place communism successfully. Facism is pretty much doomed.

I am not fat. My brother has some weight issues. Which is concerning, considering that within just that five year period that that much of a difference could be created in the way US children are active.

oh, but at least we don't think you're evil. Some individuals, maybe, but we always remember you didn't actually vote them in... (kidding!)
I'm gonna kill those Californians who voted in Arnold!!! Ahhh! That was nearly the stupidest thing ever! Trust a movie start to be the best govenor ever. As if. Thank god he cannot be president, or we'd all be doomed already. You have to have been born in the US to become a president and he was born... hmmm... I dunno. I'm not exactly an Arnold fan. Dunno his last name/how to spell it. Shwartzzzenagor. Maybe. Or was that a movie or something?

Well, it's nearly time for school.

      • Well, maybe Arnold could try to run for PM of India!
I hope you've all seen the thing about the wash/care labels in bags being sent to the French Canadian market. They say, in French, "We're sorry our president is an idiot. We didn't vote for him." (Just put the phrase into google and you can find a lot of articles...)
And in my country's defense, I'd like to say I'm sorry my president is an idiot...but at least we don't have a monarchy that would stick us with RoShaun.

What confuses me is why a country so sports-oriented can't be more physically fit. And people have the impression that fat people don't care or something. But because our society is also so entertainment-oriented, and many famous people are thin, you get people who have perfectly healthy bodies dieting needlessly or even starving themselves to be thinner. And does that get addressed? Because America is the fattest country, people are more likely to look at themselves in the mirror and think, I'm fat, when they're really perfectly healthy!

I also hate how everything is being addressed as a threat "second only to terrorism" or some such. I'm sorry, but I missed the invading armies of homosexuals and overweight people.

The separation of church and state is also crumbling. However, there is one admirable effort by Kerry, who supports abortion rights but privately does not, because he believes in the separation of church and state, and not that all people should by law have to live by his beliefs. And some bishops say they don't want Catholic politicians who speak in favor of non-Catholic beliefs to receive Communion, which is outrageous.

Just please, don't let Bush back in....he's already made a mess of it...."We're sorry our president is an idiot..."

What could mean more than this?"

          • I strongly support the Separation of Church and state. And yeah, its hold is slipping because of ignorant, idiotic Christians. Rah rah rah! I have nothing against Christians unless they're the kind who does THIS. And the kind who bats away truths and new discoveries in science because it is 'against God's will' or is just there to 'test our faith.' Rah rah rah!

I'm pretty sure I didn't get anyone mad *hopefully* because if you're that strong of a Christian, you probably didn't read DD's books. Heh. Authors writing about wizardry is NOT a bad thing.

Here, I'd like to say one thing about this weight issue. Starving yourself is NOT the way to good. When you eat smaller meals, it slows down your metabolism. Not a good thing if you're planning on loosing weight. The better options are healthier foods or serious excersize. It's not really people's fault to be fat.

            • The thing I don't get is the whole stapeling your stomach thing... I mean doctors are like "Don't go anorexic! It can kill you" and then they stapel peoples stomachs and make them anorexic!!! Our country makes NO SENSE.... And Camron Diaz only had to speak the voice of Fiona in Shrek 2 for a week and she got paid like 3 million dollars or something like that!!!! And people are starving in Asia and Africa and South America... UGh!!

I'd agree in general, but the US didn't invent that - I don't know who did. And in the US, it seems to mean private health insurance, unlike our doddery system which is meant to ensure everyone gets free treatment (apart from prescription charges to pay for medicines). The socialist government that brought that in got one thing right.

                  • I regret to say I am one of the plumptious Americans. It doesn't seem to matter what I did or ate, I gained weight, and I can't afford to pay a personal trainer big money to monitor everything I eat or do, make me do laps, etc. I rode my bicycle back and forth to work for five years, eight miles a day, and didn't lose weight. I was more fit than I am now, since I moved closer to work and only walk about half a mile now. It's not fair...

My boss had the stomach stapling operation. She has, since she had it done last year, lost nearly 200 pounds. I don't think I'm as badly off as she was, but I'm slooowly gaining weight a bit at a time. Got to get on the exercise bike again, since I'm not biking to work any more. *groan*

                    • It's like the whole....Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet, and all that crap.

Apparently Curves is a good idea. Lots of people I know go there, and like it a whole lot.

The most effective and safe way to lose weight is to eat less, and exercise more. I don't exercise. I also don't really eat that much. I eat like...one meal a day. Which I don't recommend. I've never eaten breakfast. And lunch just doesn't fit into my schedule. And thus, I eat dinner.

                      Works for me.

Next on Capitalism: Not sure who invented it either. Wasn't saying that the US did. I'm surprised no one commented on my point of the US being in its teenager phase, where it feels the need to control everyone.

No wonder so many US citizens have OCD.

                        • I agree with Gryphon, don't eat less, just don't eat as much junky food, more fruits and vegetables, and then a lot of excersize. I'm good with what I eat, I LOVE fruit and I like a lot of vegetables, I'll eat pretty much anything that isn't too spicy..... It's the excerisize that's got me... thpth. I don't like very many sports but skiing and I like Volleyball a bit. So I'm gonna join the team next year and maybe track but that's not enough... My mom's trying to get me to bike on her excersize bike thing... ugh. Oh well. Stupid cholestorol... I'm not fat, not skinny, but not fat, but my cholestorol is only a little under what my dad's was when he had a heart attack...

It does look like that, doesn't it? Meh. In fact, that seems to be exactly our government's attitude. I don't know much of my opinion on all of that issue. I have nothing to bat down that, nor do I disagree with it, so... Ah well. I only just started caring about politics and all that stuff around the Bush/Gore incident. So bleh. I keep seeing stuff in the news about Reagan. Dunno ANYTHING about him.

Oh, and cut back on the sugar too. Sugary foods raise fat and cholesterol if you have too much of it. Hmm... I forgot why, but my mom explained all of this to me. Something about your body produces cholesterols to get rid of something else... maybe. My mom wants to get me into Karate. I'm not athletic, well, not much at least. I do play outside, but rarely during the winter. I used to roller blade constantly, but all of our skating rinks suck. Either no air conditioning or they play innapropriate music videos/music. Rah rah rah.

It's thick dairy products and dark meat that you have to watch out for.... all my favorite things... Butter, steak, CHEESE, burgers... I have to have skim milk but I don't really care cuz it tastes the same as 1% to me anyways. And 2% is gross.....
