But that means, like, a year! I. Can't. Wiat. That. Long. Sorry, but I will evaporate into thin air without more wizardly things . *Groans in despair* How will we live?! And Fred, that's a good idea. Sorry that you might not be able to understand some of it . I, on the other hand, will undertand all it . Because I am American since, like, forever .
Still, that is too long!!!! I seriously am going to cry in despair. Or die of it. Where's a bridge when you need one?

Ordering the American edition is definitely a good idea: I don't think there's been a UK edition of any of the YW books since A Wizard Abroad. (Although apparently Harcourt do distribute the US edition to UK bookshops.)

You could always ask here on the forums for explanations of words you don't understand.

You know, I was looking at the Concordance and there are two new entries. Judging by the content, I think I've got a pretty good idea of what the Mars project is about. They way they've been talking about it for a while--I think they're trying to move an entire civilization from another planet onto Mars, and they've been fixing it up to make it habitable.
                I lurk. It's what I do.

It was orginanally supposed to be released Autumn of 2006, as according to the youngwizards.net site. I've read on one site that there were some publishing conflicts, and a possible release date was Spring 2007, but it has yet to be confirmed on Diane's site.

I'm actually very surprised an update hasn't occurred, or a mention in her blogs.

There's no official news. We ask DD every time there's an official chat, and she basically tells us there's no news, yet. We're sort of running on the assumption of Spring 2007, but DD's had a very full plate lately, and apparently shifting the release (and promotional work) around may happen because she'd like to take a vacation sometime.

She has finished a first draft and turned it in to the publisher, but we have no idea what the revision/production status of the book is. Remember that it was something like a year from the time she turned in the first draft of The Empty Chair until it appeared on bookstore shelves.

My recommendation, if you're tired of waiting for it, would be to download DD's free e-book (rated PG-15), A Wind From the South and read that. And maybe also the chapters she's been putting up of The Big Meow. It may not be YW, but at least it's Diane Duane fantasy.

And, of course, I have to get in my usual dig that you're all dying for YW, and you're wimps. I've been waiting for Door Into Starlight to be written/published since 1992...
New to the board? Please take the time to read the YW Board-Specific Rules, or Why We're Not Like Other Boards FAQ.

A wizard of Mars. Of. OF. OF. I think it is a wizard Of mars. You know, a martian. It could also refer to several different wizards. In a wizard alone, the "wizard" in the title refered to several different people. [LIST]

Nita: was alone because her mommy died.

kit: alone because Nita was pretty much ignoring his social and individual emotional needs.

Ponch: alone because he was the only "wizard" dog. Tom and (can't remember name)'s dogs were strange, but not wizardly. Ponch may not actually be a wizard, but he was pretty close.

darryl: alone beacause he had autism. Self-explanitory.

Anyway, my point is that it may refer to many different people.
I can create a world, out of letters and words. I can make you believe something in a paragraph. I can make you love someone in a page. I can make you go places that don't exist in a book. That's all the magic I need. [url]http://melpomene.freeforums

I'm getting bored waiting for the next book! I am soo bored reading the others again and again. Maybe it's time to try something new.
*finds the longest and booringest piano music and plays it over and over again until people yell at me to stop* okay, so it isn't booring piano music, it's from Wicked the musical, but I still don't have anything else to do!
