  • Hungry: Ick...that's no fun. I hope things get really amazingly good for you soon, 'cause you totally deserve it.

Hehe...I was talking to my friend about doing the snow dance Sunday (jokingly, of course) and she was like, "Um...I might have trouble with that. I don't think they'd appreciate me calling on the pagan gods to bring snow in the middle of church."

We read "Flowers for Algernon" sometime...either in 8th or 9th grade. My memory fails me. Anyway, I loved it...though it competely depressed me. People in my class acted the same way as in yours, Mel. *sigh*

I don't understand guys at all. Not even the slightest bit. But they are so incredibly amusing to hang out with. My friend Shoe is my (in)sanity half the time. Just listening to J and N talk cracks me up. They're hilarious, though I hafta yell at them for being idiots every now and then, lol.

I got mobbed by little kids today. That seems to happen a lot... Anyway, I need to backtrack. I'm getting ahead of myself, as usual. We had pep band for the basketball game last night. The whole thing was absolutely awful. W and all of our good people were gone to some big band thing a couple hours away, so his assistant director/the orchestra director was in charge. She knows NOTHING about pep band. We never started together because nobody knew when we were playing, and we played the fight song about a billion times. She wore out the trumpets by playing a bunch of high stuff all in a row without long enough breaks. She couldn't control us; she's even shorter than me, and a twig...not to mention that she isn't very loud. So basically, it was awful. Anyway, E asked me if I wanted to go with her to her little sister's birthday party the next day. I ended up spending the night at her house. T, her sister, had a bowling party. Well, her friends are psychotic. They kept jumping on me, trying to tickle me, yelling like crazy...things...and a number of other things. It was still kind of fun (though I bowled horribly). But yeah...they were crazy.

My geometry teacher last year played his "Irish jig music" a lot. He was weird. XD

    • IT'S SNOWING!!!!! This is proof that weathermen don't always lie!

Okay, I just really had to say that. My mom's not home, so the music's up incredibly loud and the windows are open. Winter breezes are amazing.

I know how you feel, Angel. Whenever we had a sub in band, he/she could never control us. We were pretty uncontrollable anyway (being percussion) but throw in some poor, lost sub and it's a riot. XD

*Groan* little kids trying to tickle you = scream fest. Am I right? But bowling is fum, especially when you gowith a bunch of your crazy friends who insist on stuffing you with curl fries. And who also giggle and cough annoyingly behind any smoker's back until he/she gets so pissed off that they stop smoking. Haha. Good times. :P

Friend of mine (a guy, since we're discussing them) recently sent me an email that read:

When a girl starts talking about how they feel, run.

When they start talking about how they look, run.

When they start taking about clothes, makeup, or nailpolish, run.

When they start talking about you (how you dress, talk, act, ect.), RUN.

Are you trying to scare us away?!

      • Peri: haha, *wipes away imaginary tears* yeah, that is sort of funny, actually. Poor guys. They don't know what they're getting into, XD

Hungry: Oh, wow. That's kind of..yeah. Something like that happened to me once. Except I didn't black out. I was just standing at the dinner table efore we ate, talking to my mom and dad or something, and suddenly my legs just give way. Completely. My ankles stopped working, my knees stopped working. It actually was sort of funny, I was there and then I wan't. IT was like a cheap and unexpected magic trick!

I have further evidence to the "guys are weird" statement. Today after church, my mom wanted to talk to this lady. Her son, L is in my class, and her daughter G is in m y brother's grade. So we were in there talking for...well, a really long time. The ushers were coming in by the time we left (<-- Irony) but anyway. The lady started talking to me, saying how L would come home talking about how I read or something I wrote like that. And how he would talk about how I was gonna go to Naz or Mount (HSs) and stuff. Well, to say the least, I was really, really shocked. This kid, he isn't really very nice to me in class. I actually think he's trying to be funny a lot of the time, but it ends up insulting. But to think he was complimenting me at home instead of making fun of me....huhn. Guys are weeeird! And don't suggest he likes me, I already considered that; he has a girlfriend. Humph. I can't figure it out.

Getting mobbed by little kids: you wouldn't believe how often this sort of thing happens. Or rather, how many little kids actually know me. It's amazing, I don't even know half of their names.

Grah, my ears hurt. I just realised my iPod was in the car, so ran to rescue it, and it's like 30 some degrees out. I just put them on my head and they're making my ears ache...oh well. I like music too much to put them down, :P Me so silly!

Well, I'm going to go finnnnish reading Dracula now, before some people come over for my other brother's birthday celebration. It's just getting to the good part!! Yay for Prof. Van Helsing!

        • I don't really consider myself anything. I'm a... I guess you could say I'm a European mutt because I'm not sure what I am, besides "white" -- and I don't really like that term. Most of my friends are either white, asian, or indian because those are the people around me and at my school.

Weather... It is soooo colld...! I was starting to like this global warming thing. Man, I would not miss the cold (just, maybe I'd miss the penguins and how it sucks because the polar ice caps have melted and now my house is under water... phhh). I'd only miss the snow. And I thought it was supposed to start snowing earlier today...? I wish it were snowing right now.

I was volunteering yesterday, helping to build window components and cover up piping with dirt. It was freezing outside. I put on so many layers of clothes, and even a second pair of pants, with a jacket on top. We had to use ice picks because the dirt had frozen on top, and we couldn't even shovel it around. Even though we were out in the cold and my muscles ache today, it was still worth it. I got home and took an earned bubble bath.

Almost immediately after that, I went to my friend's party. It was soooo much fun. Maybe I'll talk about it later, but I don't want to sit here and type for hours. So much fun.

And heh. I slept for 13 hours last night. I've never done that before. O.o

Peri, I'm with you about drama queens... ugghh...

          Hungry! That's scary! *huggles* and
Hunrgy: At one point, we were talking about the coffee I make, and he was like "Well, I think you're perfect." Guys are so weird...I think he was also the guy who helped me get to the back room when I blacked out. Boys are so weird.

          Much love!

          • Guess what! I almost blacked out today. *cough* Hungry, it's spreading! lol. Okay, so it was simply because I decided to take a shower at 4:00pm after eating only two tiny bowls of cereal (Lucky Charms, lol) and not drinking anything except the water with the painkillers. I hadn't eaten 'cause I was afraid nothing would stay down. I woke up feeling rather ill, then read/slept on the couch the rest of the day. I feel a lot better now, but I'm really jittery and shaky.

We didn't get snow. The weathermen here _do_ lie.

There's not much interesting to talk about 'cause I slept pretty much all day. I still haven't done any of my homework...but I have a few hours before I'll go to bed. I think I'll go practice mah flute for a bit. Tryouts for Wind Ensemble are in less than a month...I'm a bit worried, but whatever happens, happens. If I get in, yayness, but if I don't, I'll survive.

            • Gee, I don't think I've posted on here in a while. No snow where I am, but it is hot. Yesterday it was about 80 degrees outside. I keep on thinking "IT's SUPPOSED to be winter, nice and cool" Oh well, can't really do anything about it. Right now I should be working on an essay for class, but I can't concentrate on it. Meh. Anyways, I'm thinking of buying an ipod, but I don't know which I should get, which do you think is better, the nano ipod or the video? HELP!

              • Mak, getting an iPod is a big thing. My iPod is a video, and I love it with all of my heart. Chosing which iPod to get is another challenge. First off, about how much music do you listen to? If you're only into a few songs, such as the mainstream ones you hear on the radio, then a nano is for you. Alternatively, if you're an avid music fan and collect a ton of music, then you'll be wanting something bigger. On my video, I have over 1900 songs, which takes up 38 GB of space. You can, of course, shrink the files, but even with a big nano, I think the most you can hold is 1,000 songs. That's clearly not the iPod for me. O.o

But I love my iPod. I think they're really neat. When you buy it, you get everything you need: a cord for charging, earbuds, a CD for iTunes and uploading songs... the only thing you really need is a case, which is an outlet for a little self expression. I've also bought new earbuds because I wrecked my old ones, which you won't have to if you take good care of your earbuds. Which means no dropping them on cocrete floors or slamming them into walls. Some of my friends have managed to bust the wires and things like that. They're not invincible. Also, learning how to wear earbuds is an art, but you'll figure it out within a week.

                I hope this helps.

                • Thanks for the help Gryph I had an ipod shuffle last year, you know, one of the "outdated " ones? I managed to wreck my earphones After about two months and now it's broken, I have no idea how. I never dropped it or anything, I was just trying to put new soings on it and... now it won't turn on. It just blinks at me. By thew way, they apparently don't need a CD even anymore. My friend just got an ipod nano, and it apparently installs itself. About the whole music thing, I have about 10 CDs of music that I would want to put on. how much space would that take? Thanks

                  • Makdragon, you're not the only one with first-gen iPod shuffle issues. Apple's posted a utility that lets you reset the shuffle. Hopefully that should help fix your problem (although, not the one on which new iPod to buy... that's an eternal dilemma).

And I like the new white Sony earbuds more than the Apple ones. I found 'em in pink, green, and blue at Target for about $10.

I've generally found that MP3s are about 1MB/minute, so if a CD is about 60 minutes, and you've got 10 of them ripped to MP3, then ~600 MB, or a little over half a gig. You can fit that on a shuffle or nano just fine.

I loves me both the hard-drive and the flash-memory iPods. But if you plan on using an iPod for exercising or on long hikes or something, the flash memory ones are terrific--you can drop them without fear. And Ars Technica's pretty much proven a nano is nigh-on indestructible. The hard drive-based ones, like the video, you drop 'em and they're toast.

Me, I'm waiting until the iPod catches up with the iPhone, now.

                      • Unfortunately, I've read that the iPhone costs $499 for 4GB and $599 for 8GB--it's kinda the Ferrari of cell phones: everyone gawks and admires but no one really owns one. My stats are probably off, but please don't kill me.

My whole week is screwed. I have two tests today, Spanish and Honors Geometry, right after each other. Tomorrow is a Health test. Next Monday is a big Odyssey test with an in-class essay. Tomorrow is an assembly, with someone coming to talk to the whole student body. Thursday and Friday our head-of-school is coming to our health class to go over some personality test that we took. I don't need someone to tell me that I'm an anti-social (often), depressed (often), intelligent, pessimistic (often, according to some people) persona---I already knew that .

*sigh* My friend M told me this morning that our friend J(who was a grade above us at our old school) was diagnosed with lukemia on Saturday. The doctors don't even know what kind he has. Apparently the priest at our parish announced this Sunday morning, and I go to Saturday mass. That put a damper on my day. I feel horrible, and I can't exactly do anything. He's a great person, and doesn't deserve this. But then...who does?

                        • Well, Steve Jobs has an iPhone, but they don't even have FCC approval yet! The plan is that the first ones ship in the summer. But as pretty and sexy as they are, as techtoys, I don't want one. I don't use my cell phone that much, and I sure as heck want an iPod to have more space than 8GB.

But what I meant by "waiting until the iPod catches up with the iPhone" is that the iPhone has some very interesting technology: the touchscreen navigation, and automatic orientation sensing to flip the screen from landscape to portait mode for video playback. Not to mention using a versin of OSX 10.5 (Tiger) and Core Animation for the UI. If they migrate those things onto the hard-drive video iPods, I'll be there.

My hard drive iPod is ancient. It doesn't do video. It doesn't do photos. It's black and white, and doesn't have a click wheel. It's a 3G, and it's only got 40GB of storage, and the battery is giving up the ghost.

But it still does everything I bought it for, and it works great in the car, so I'm not letting go until I absolutely have to. And then, it gets recycled at the Apple store.

My friend's mother died of cancer. I know your dilemma all too well. The best thing to do is to tell him that you're sorry and then not bug him about it. don't treat him any differently than you usually do, but don't avoid the topic.

                            • Stop talking about iPods.. It's making me want mine back even more..

I love Best Buy. The warrenty I bought there covers 3 hardware replacements before swapping the product out for a brand new one. My iPod's drive finally crashed for the 4th time in about 2 years, so I sent it in and am waiting for confirmation that I can go and get a new one. ^^

It was on of the older models, 4th gen I think, with a black and white screena and a basic click wheel. Hopefully I can get a video to replace it.

ARGH!! My English teacher is so STUPID! How many of you have ever had a GROUP final? Didn't think so.. We have to work with a partner to explicate a poem, but we've only learned how to do this about a week ago. On top of that, we've only done it three times. On top of THAT, we haven't gotten ANY of them back yet. On top of THAT, she hasn't told us our grades for about a month, and a lot can happen to a grade in a few days, let alone a month. On top of THAT... um... I had something... nope... lost it...

So yeah... Finals in general suck...

By the way CM, I also had a group final last semester. We had to do a presentation about a play/movie. We each sang a song from the movie and we gave over nfo for it. IOn case you were wondering we DID recieve an A (Thank G-d) But yeah, It's really frustrating, and I really hope none of my teachers this term will get that bright idea.
