  • I did not cause your insanity.

No I don't carry around a little rule book everywhere, I just know the rules because I have been on the forums for quite a while. Ooh, about 6 months.

    ANYWAYS, back to the topic...

    • Zirsta: I thought one-liners were still taboo, although for a different reason... They take up too much space, and don't really say much...

Septimus: It's really easy to just start reciting the rules of the forums, when you've been here long enough. It helps, because it's easier to make posts that are readable, longer, and have correct grammar. I noticed that just posting at the forums have really improved how I write. Didn't DD say somewhere, that she hated misuse of apostrophes? I remember reading that post a while ago, I think there was something in it about DD getting Lee to fix all the misused apostrophes.

In the end, I think everyone gets affected by the forum's insanity, and rules. XD

Oh, and welcome to any newcomers that I might have missed... *looks around for newbies, and feels kinda bad for going so off topic*

Oh, yes, Welcome Wiccangixie! Sorry I haven't said that before now... *hands Wiccangixie another straightjacket*

      • Yes, we still prefer that you not use one liners, although what we really hate are fluff contentless messages that don't mean anything and that don't contribute to a general discussion among all board members. One-on-one discussions is one example. One liners is another.

I'd also like to caution you guys just a wee bit about excessive virtual roleplaying. I know it's fun, and it's okay to be handing out virtual whatevers in this thread, but don't make a general habit of doing that all over this board. We once had an official chat with Diane Duane, where one member was so busy doing virtual games and roleplaying in the chat, that Ms. Duane couldn't get a word in edgewise, and she eventually lost her temper enough to type "Basta!" at the perpetrator.

Just make sure you're not the one getting yelled at in Italian by Our Author, is all.

The board rules, such as they are, are in the FAQ area. Since we're still feeling our way, the full rules haven't yet been ported over, since a lot of stuff is in flux, or is no longer relevant in the new software (e.g., avatar sizes). The old rules, if you want to see them, are here.

New to the board? Please take the time to read the YW Board-Specific Rules, or Why We're Not Like Other Boards FAQ.

        • I'm Dragon Writer, but I'm not exactly a newbie.

Some of you knew me as Young Reader. Nice to be reaquainted with you though! Now that there's a new site which - hopefully - won't mess around with my computer, you might see a lot more of me. If not, I'll still catch up in the library, occasionally.
          I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.
For those of you who don't recognize WHO'S back, I'll give you a hint, and I don't mean the typo's in my posts - YR.

          • Welcome back Dragon Writer! I'm assuming you'll need a new collection of straightjackets? *hands one over, hoping admins won't get mad because of the roleplaying factor* It's just habit to do this now. Sorry! If you want, I'll be the horse.

            • a tradition.

I was here back when it was first starting - only fitting that the tradition I helped continue get used on me.

My forum habits have stayed as insane, so I never lost my old owns - but we can all use more straight jackets on this forum.

                You meant "straitjackets", perhaps?

(And yes, we know who you are. Welcome back, and calm down.)

                • Sorry about that.

I've been missing you guys terribly, recently... Keep on sending YWers to tell everyone hi. Came in to use my time at the school library to say hi, and found a forum I could actually visit.

                  • Dragon Writer... or YR!! Ah I've missed you around. I was wondering where you disappeared to!!! So glad to have you back. And I've seen your posts on here recently so I'll definetly be seeing you around the threads. Don't disappear like that again.

                    Welcome back.
Time passes. Even when it seems impossible.
Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise.
It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me.

                      • Hello everyone. I'm brand spanking new and the forum code told me to post here, so I must obey.

I'm Jacq. I'm a long time fan of the Young Wizards series - before I even knew the series had a name! - and Diane Duane's books. (The Venom factor <3). I never know what else to write in these introductions... I'm a university student (Linguistics and GRST), and I like Lemon Demon, They Might be Giants, and Neal Stephonson. No animated avatars is a little sad, but rules are rules!

Please be nice to the lowly noob. :3
I would EAT THE HELL outta that steak, then try to guilt the cow into dying just for being a cow. I'd be all "NOM NOM HEY COW YOU'RE NOT MEAT YET WHAT GIVES JERK" and then I'd glare and give it the silent treatment. Same goes for pigs and chickens... I would guilt a FLOCK of chickens into poultrycide in a heartbeat. "HEY YOU'RE A CHICKEN HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT"- Madhatte

                        • Welcome Jacq! Nice to meet you! (Well, nice reading your post...)

Have some chocolate chip cookies and a straightjacket. *passes them over* You're going to need the straightjacket. See, we're all insane here.

                          Well, enjoy the forums!

I used to be on here as Sker'ret, but I kind of fell off of the face of this particular universe for a while. Anyway, I'm excited to be back!
