      • May I give you another welcome tip animelvr2? As Garrett Fitzgerald just pointed out, capitalization is a trait that is admired as well. (By me at least) Friends point out stuff like this, right? Okay, I'll stop now.

I love 'em, but then, I was reading that series before YW was published. They're different, and yet similar. Like DD's Star Trek novels: you can sense some of the things that are shared, but you can also completely enjoy the stuff that's just for that series.

Wait, DD wrote Star Trek novels? What is the first one? I, as it just so happens, finished the book I was reading and am trying to find a new one.

            • Gwendi, given that question and the one you asked in the shoutbox, now might be a good opportunity for me to point out there there are two FAQs in this newbie forum that are helpful references to answer a lot of questions.

The first, the Board FAQ, is a laying out of most of the rules of this board and why they exist. It's kind of long and tedious, so take your time reading it, but it will help you keep from stepping on any toes inadvertently, and answer the most common questions about things like avatars, sigs, one-liners, using search, and getting that little accent in dai stihó.

The second, the Books FAQ, are questions that mostly relate to just-about-everything DD's ever written, and answers things like what the Door/Cat Wizard/Star Trek books are, and how DD pronounces "dai stihó", and the latest known bits of how the SYWTBAW movie is going.

If you think a question's missing from either of these FAQs, or you disagree with or have updates to any of the answers, there's also an FAQ discussion thread where you can make your case.

Welcome, tensai! Whereabouts are you from? Are you in school, or are you an old fogey?

                  And so on. :-)

I'm in California, and I guess I count as an old fogey still attending school, as I'm 24 and still at one of the UCs.

Nah, definition of "old fogey" around here is a little murky, but "fan of the books before High Wizardry came out" is a pretty good standard.

BTW, did I mention I just turned 40? I probably should have said something in ToGR so you could all make fun of me like my family has been... :-)

                      • Welcome tensai! I shall now offer you a slice of watermelon and hope that someone else will give you your straightjacket because I am temporarily out of them. I didn't order enough

I have just read them again, and thank you for pointing them out for me. I am forgetful at times. So glad that my computer isn't packed yet. It was supposed to be last weekend. Okay, getting off-topic, and as I just read, I should stop before I get too far in. Let me know if you want me to edit it out.

                        • Hah! Unfortunately, I'm not that old; saw the first three at a middle school book club and picked them up.

                          Mmmm, watermelon.

                          • Her'es some pizza, and i'm proud to present you with your first straight jacket. You'll get more soon, so make room in your closet...It's become traditional arround here in recent history for every greeting to come with a bit of food, and a straight jacket, just to show the extent of our insanity.
                            I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.
For those of you who don't recognize WHO'S back, I'll give you a hint, and I don't mean the typo's in my posts - YR.

                            • And to show you how insane we are I'm going to hand over your second straight jacket.

Welcome to the forums! Hope to see you around, I've already seen you posting in other threads. So, I hope to see you around more I guess.

Anyway welcome aboard the insane train. Haha.
Time passes. Even when it seems impossible.
Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise.
It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me.
