I've been an Ed fan since reading Deep Wizardry at age 10. I always wondered where DD got her inspiration for Ed. Second favorite character has to be Dairine because she is so complex and driven. I think Dairine is a good catalyst for DD to take the series in new directions beyond Nita and Kit.

Dairine has got to be my fav. She's really smart, and not nearly as annoying as she was in the first or second book. If you look at ther first than 8th book, you'd see my point.

Definitely Dairine. i just started reading the books a few months ago, but i decided on dairine right away. she has kind've the same personality as i do.

and after her probably comes fred and nita. i nearly cried when fred blew his quanta, too.
