  • I'm back!! Did I miss anything important since page 216??

Oregon was fun, and to whoever asked (crookedfrog I think) I was up on the Northern coast of Oregon in a smaaaaall town called Manzanita (well, small to me since I come from a city with 140,000 people. ). It was lots of fun, I went to the beach a bit (cold water of course, and little bugs that bite your feet a lot, but fun still) and saw my cousins a lot...

    so, Hi everybody!!

I don't suppose that's why you're usually (always?) invisible and don't have an avatar, then?

If so, parental controls have turned you into a sinister character! So that's what they're for...

        • M - I know what a hampster is. I used to have 2 of them about a year ago, but my youngest son killed them on accident and we haven't replaced them. *sigh* It was a sad couple of days there. I think that I will get him another one for his birthday coming up in a couple of months.

          I don't AIM, but I MSN. :-)

          Gryphon
So you're a dog person, are you? *glares* Dpgs are big, poopy messes. They slobber, poop, and pee. Cats pur and cuddle. They have easy clean (relatively) litter boxes, rather than going in neighbor's yards or YOUR HOUSE. So I think cats are great pets. *huggles my Cass Cass*

Oh no... no dogs either. Who says that cats don't poop in your yard? I have a whole neighborhood (nearly 10) full of cats and I had to cover my newly planted tree with pinecones, because the cat next door thought it was its litter-box! I am alergic to Cat and Dog dander... well, I get sick every time the lawn is mowed because of it. I don't have any pets, but I do have neighbors who let their's use my yard for a litterbox. Even hampsters are gross to a certain extent. I have enough grossness to clean up after to really want pets.. but I will probably have to break down and get another hampster.

All this control freak thing.... uggh... I don't want to talk about it. I don't know what I will do if my son finally discovers the joys of foruming. I can't abide sharing my computer with him. Besides... I didn't get to forum until I was 18. (course that was a college forum and foruming wasn't even around before that.)

Foruming is just a different way to meet people. I can see the point of keeping an eye on your child while they are on the computer. There *are* lots of ways for them to get into trouble that they don't even know about. I have heard many stories about bad things happening to young girls and I know the paranoia of being a parent. I protect my children because I love them so much that it would just about kill me if something ever happened to them. Sometimes partents doesn't see eye to eye with you, but being a girl who never got along with her parents growing up and being a parent now, I see both sides... sympathize... and have to admit that I take away my son's favorite things because he sometimes goes brain dead and won't do the things he is supposed to do.

I think the one thing that I have learned as a parent is the amount of work that goes into being a parent. The money involved in keeping my children fed and clothed and the bills payed. The stress involved in worrying about them 24-7, the love I have for them. The responsibility I have of nurturing them and teaching them about life. Sometimes I have to sacrifice so much for them and they don't really care that I have given up so much. They take me for granted and think that they are only here to play and have a great time.

I have tried to live by the policy, as a parent, that to much is given, much is required. I would give my children the moon if it was required... and I expect them to sacrifice some of their time to me, school, and chores. Seems fair to me. After all, I had to put up with their poopy diapers for many years. Uuuuggggghhhhh!

And I know that with the last 4 paragraphs... everyone will probably hate me now. *chuckle* I can't win. I sympathize with everyone... really.
-----------------------------I'm not paranoid! Which of my enemies told you this?

            • *waves* I use MSN too, mostly because
-that's what everyone uses here in Aotearoa. Like, most people in the USA use AIM, right? Here it's MSN. Everyone uses it.
-it's the easiest to get, too. I should really pic up some other ones, but... eh. Too much trouble.

*snort* we have Norton Internet Security, and my younger- stress the younger- brother has taken it upon himself to set it all up to extreme security. *rages* this is SO annoying. I turn it off whenever I get on, because frankly I'm older than him and I don't think he should be in any position where he's picking what I can look at. I still can't get into Chime, though. *is extremely annoyed.*

                • I use MSN as well.... Really, I think that Americans are the exception with AIM. EVERYONE here has MSN!!!

                  ^^

Wow, Chani, your post has just made me think "I'm never ever having kids." But even I know what a flimsy statement that is... If I ever marry, I could probably be convinced... but not before "What? I'm supposed to have KIDS? I think I'll reconsider this.... o.O" and freak out the poor mother-in-law... my own mother's just a little too used to me to be surprised.

I have MSN!! *blinks* I have 54 contacts on there... all of them are from my HP rpg, except for TWO I know in real life. I think I might possibly have one from another site but I've never seen her on.

Which makes me wonder?? Does MSN have a limit?? Cos AIM's 200 thing is REALLY annoying because everyone I know decides to make like 50 s/ns and all and I can't keep track of them all and constantly have to clear out my buddy list. rawr.
