Anyways, mid-term exams start on Monday, unless there's that freak storm that Environnement Canada told my school about, which is on Sunday, and even then there might be a chance that I have to do the Monday exam. If I'm lucky, then they're going to move the exam to after the winter break.

Wow you know what's really weird? My midterms were like in November, but my teachers messed up so we ended up NOT having midterms! The downfall is now we're going to have to have EVERYTHING that we learned from the beginning of the semester to the end on our finals. Bleh. But midterms, I've had those before not exactly what I call exciting.

Eric: High school is fun. I'm serious when I say this. We get to do a bunch of things we couldn't in the previous years. You can go to semi formals a lot more (not sure how your junior high runs but we only had one at the end of my eighth grade year). And, I feel, the "clubs" you can join are much more fun because you actually get to _go_ to conferences and stuff. The only down fall is midterms and finals.. but on final days (mine at least) we only have half a day. A&B blocks on one day and C&D blocks on the next.

Mel: I think my situation is like your friend K. Seriously I got my braces, and then like two days later I go to a waterpark for my friend's birthday... As I was sliding down on of the cool water slide things I bite down hard and my back molar bracket falls off! I was like "what!?!?". And everytime I go to the ortho appts I always end up getting something new added to my teeth. No kidding. But it should be coming off soon so I'm happy! Oh and I hope you get better too. Being sick is no way to spend the holidays. Believe me I've been sick during Christmas before!

OOH yeah I got my braces fixed too. I did it myself. I don't know how but it worked! Haha. I'm a little nervous it will pop out again... Aw my Christmas tree looks wicked sad. Like I said before it's fake, and there's like a bunch of gaps between each row. I tried to put ribbon around it covering the gaps but it didn't work. Oh well...

Mel: What books did you read in English??? Right now we're reading "The Crucible" (a play) and "The Catcher and the Rye" (novel). The play we're reading in class and the novel isn't due til after the break.

We've also read "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", "The Old Man and the Sea", "Scarlett Letter", "A Farewell to Arms", "The Great Gatsby", "A Streetcar Named Desire", and "Night"....

Okay I'm gone, I got to find something to eat! haha.

You're lucky! Your braces are coming off. My brothers' orthodontist is attached to his patients- he never lets them go! My bros had (and still do)braces for like 5 years. When they go to Israelovitch, if i's even possible, all he does is make them worse. heehee now we payed it all, so anything that he does is costing him money.

In English class, last year we read "seven plays of mystery and suspense", "walkabout", "Hero of lesser causes", "of mice and men", and "the outsiders". This year we read "the sisterhood of the traveling pants" and we're reading "romeo and juliet". We will read "and then there were none".

Yay! I finished "Metroid Prime 3: corruption" in normal mode! now I have to beat veteran and hypermode. My goal is to do everything possible in the game.

You read "The sisterhood of the traveling pants" in English?!? Wow! That's lucky. I've read "of mice and men" and cried, seriously. "romeo and juliet" is a fine play, I liked it.. it was very fun to read in class. The first three you listed I have no idea what they are but they sound interesting. What really got me was "the sisterhood of the traveling pants". Really? Man I wish I was in YOUR English class.

Well, it was summer reading. Most of my class, including the girls actually, didn't like it. Same thing with "walkabout", the other summer reading book. They have bad summer reading choices. Aside from those, "hero of lesser causes", and "and then there were none", the books were good. I haven't read "and then there were none", but when I looked at the summary on the back, it said that people that had evil pasts for murdering people were invited to an island party, where they started disappearing. So what's so bad about that? there's a mystery to discover the killer of criminals? That's a really strange book.

Emi: How is high school fun? It doesn't seem like that when you high- schoolers are consistently complaining about i tin the forums.

Vashmata: You are lucky. The books you are reading sound better than the ones in my English class- except The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants dosn't sound good. Although I suppose I probably shouldn't compare as I don't know what grade you're in.

Mel: That's a lot to worry about, and I like the idea of a school thread as the majority of people here are probably still in school, and we could probably all find something school- related to talk about.

Which books are you reading, Wolfy, and which grade are you in? I'm in grade eight, or Secondary two. In Canada, it goes from elementary to high school, then cegep(spelling?) for two years, then finally it goes to university.

What is cegep? It sounds ike a confusing sysem, but I guess it's probably just because I don't live in Canada.

You probably already know that in the US, (I've noticed in the few times I wonder across that region of the universe) that it starts in preschool (not for everyone, but the majority) then elementary school, then middle school (a.k.a. junior high), then high school, then college,etc.

I have no idea why I just said that, as you probably already know this, but I felt like it and this is the TOGR.

I'm forced to read classics like The Call of the Wild and other books i'd rather prefer not to read. I like fiction/fantasy, so it's not that great, but oh well.

I'll PM you my grade. I don't want to say it where everyone can see.

Yeah, I'll list everything. Preschool, Kindergarden(?), elementary(1-6), high school(7-11), cegep(like college I think 12-13), university(14-death). And yeah, I also like fiction and fantasy(SYWTBAW, duh). I have a friend who's obsessed with history for some reason. He can't stand fiction.

So you don't really have a difference between middle school (7-8/7-9) and high school (9-13/10-13) except for the last two years of high school (cegep)? I think 'University' is more like college. I don't get why anyone could not like fiction. I have a friend who doesn't really like it, but it's still hard to imagine that it isn't just him.

So, my internet's been down for a few days and I really don't feel like going back and reading what went on in TOGR during that time because I am feeling very lazy right now, so sorry if someone said something to me and I don't acknowledge it. I'm just tired.

This morning when I walked into church, it was pouring rain. An hour later when I left church, there was at least and inch of snow on the ground, and it hasn't stopped snowing since then. We're pretty much got white-out conditions right now, and I haven't seen a car go by in 5 minutes (I live on the busiest residential street in my city.) It's...crazy. So much snow. I would love it if we got a snow day tomorrow...because my last day of school before break is Tuesday. XD I could live with one day of school this week, that'd be nice. Glad I got new boots this weekend though; I don't know how I made it through last winter without owning a pair of boots. I must have been crazy; I've lived here my entire life, and I know that we always get massive amounts of snow each winter. Oh well. I've got boots now; they're nice and warm. I like them. XD

Yesterday I went Christmas shopping, which was fun. I'm finally done with it all, not that I had that much to do this year anyway. I like Christmas shopping; it's fun to shop for other people, especially the people I have to shop for, because I know that they will like whatever I get them.

Not much has happened, really, or if something has happened, I don't remember it. I'm still waiting to hear back from colleges, still applying for scholarships, still drinking a lot of tea. Oh, I got the 1996 movie version of Hamlet from the library. It's 4 hours long, and I'm excited; I've seen parts of it in class, but I want to watch the whole thing. I'm a dork, I know. XD

I got a locker for after Christmas break! Stupidly, the school decided that lockers would be given out on a first come, first serve basis to students (since they're redoing half the school and closing that half down, remember.) It was crazy; I got there half an hour before school (when no one is at school usually) and there was a line of at least 50 people in the bookroom already, waiting to get a locker. I'm sharing it with my sister...she'd better keep her half of the locker cleaner than she keeps her room.

Ehnn...I guess I'd better post this, since my Internet keeps dying again and coming back in short spurts. The weatherman says there's 7 inches of snow now, and it's still coming down. *huddles under blankets to hide from the crazy snow*

We've got lots of snow here too. I was shocked when I looked outside to see how much snow we have. Of course, I'm probably going to end up going to school tomorrow because my town is _that_ good on getting the main roads plowed and sanded. *shakes fist*

Wolfy: Yeah we may complain, but that's what (i think) teenagers do. Besides in my school it's pretty cool because when your a junior and a senior you get privileges (sp?). Such as being able to leave school when you have a block off or ordering from our school's restaurant (culinary class). But the restaurant thing is only for seniors. Maybe I think it's fun because I'm almost out of high school. But seriously I think that my years in high school are going way too fast for my liking. I still think I'm a sophomore... haha.

And I like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, I thought that was a cute series. It took me a long time to pick the book up because I thought it was going to be dumb but when I started to read it I found it to be really cool. Give it a chance people.

I can't believe this semester is almost over! I'm so happy... My next semester is fun classes!! Well, except for my a block!

I don't know how I'm going to get to school tomorrow.... We have about a foot and a half of snow right now. Our neighbor plowed out our driveway the first time it snowed. This time, my dad was home.... However his backhoe, being like thirty years old, hasn't been started in months, and it didn't start today.... My dad got home from traveling to New York today and his car didn't make it in to its parking space.... It was kind of blocking my mom's car. And my dad's is HORRIBLE in the snow (I've complained about this before...) He tried to move it so it wouldn't be frozen in the snow in the morning, and he couldn't move it. My neighbor happened to drive by, and saw my dad stuck, and pulled him out with his four wheel drive truck. My mom and I keep telling him to get an older, four wheel drive vehicle (preferably a truck so we can transport my bike, mulch, dirt, garbage, etc.) to use in the winter and in the spring when it's "rut season" on our road. But still... the road isn't plowed that well, and there's a chance the road will be glare ice again.... But my neighbor said that if it was icy, he'd get me and take me to the bus stop, reversing our usual normal routine (normally we get his son). So at least I'll get to school tomorrow.

Hopefully we'll get a 90 minute delay.... When we came in from getting my dad's car unstuck, it was JUST starting to rain.... If it keeps up like this there'll be ice tomorrow, thereby causing a 90 minute delay.

OK, we have our tree up, the clear and red lights (once upon a time, three or four years ago, I said "Why don't we use some of the red lights from the old music shop and put them on the tree too, to make a candy-cane tree?" My mom thought it was a good idea, so since, we've been making candy-cane trees. ), and the garland, and the angel on it, and a few new ornaments. Now we just need to put the rest of the ornaments up, buy some more artificial snow for the village, and finish setting up the village. Then we'll be all decorated!

Eric: Your dad should probably get a new car. the one he has dosn''t sound very reliable... when there is ice, do you always get a 90 minute delay? That's pretty nice. We still have to decorate ours, but I suppose it could wait until break...

Our weather was unpleasant yesterday, but fortunately, the landlord has the driveway plowed, so I only needed to clear off the steps. I think I removed 4 inches twice. I really have to replace the wiper blades on the minivan, but it's been too freakin' cold out to stand there swapping them when I've needed to, and when it's been warmer, it hasn't been raining/snowing, so I haven't needed to swap them...

I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to get the car cleaned out for the trip next week, if I can't stand to be outside for any length of time. I either need to find my gloves or replace them -- or both, because I don't think they were warm enough last winter anyway.

I was on TV last week! The Brewer Hometown Band played our Christmas concert on Wednesday night, and one of the local news stations sent a camera crew to get some footage. I was practicing a duet with the principal clarinet when I noticed the camera guy next to us. That night, I was lying down in bed with my CPAP on when Donna yelled from the living room, "Garrett, you're on TV!" Of course, by the time I disentangled myself, it was long over. :-) I was able to download the newscast the next day, though, and edit it down to just the section dealing with us. I just uploaded it to Twango in case anyone would like to watch it. :-) *runs over to tweak filter and repost* I'm the clarinet in the back -- the one you can actually see. :-)

(Oh, and you definitely don't need to click on this one, where I learned why you don't run a cameraphone while sledding.)
