  • kk: Erm...yeah, I'll definitely do that. Wow.

    • kk: Yeah I'll pray for Kit. That is a bit of a coincedence that his name is Kit and he's almost like the same age as Kit in the YW books. Bit obsessive? Maybe, but aren't we all?

eowyngirl... a one-liner? Haha I'm just kidding around, but seriously... don't forget about that.

wolfy: glad to see you back around!! Two weeks with out a shower?!! Crazy, but hey, you were camping it's an excuse I guess. So I'm guessing school starts this Monday? Hope you have a fun day on your first!! You're in high school now, right? Good luck!

The Olympic games are on. The opening ceremony was amazing last night!! I enjoyed it alot! Anyone else see it?!?
Time passes. Even when it seems impossible.
Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise.
It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me.

      • I did, I did! It was cool. I liked it a lot. Tons of dancing and such...it was very pretty. I watched it until about...well, until the Parade of Nations was over, I think. That's right...and when Switzerland came on, I cheered, and got really weird looks from my family members...

I was in Philadelphia yesterday, and I saw three Mercedes, and five silver shiny volvos.
        Dif-tor heh smusma.

        • *snorts* Kk, we all get weird looks for cheering for Switzerland.

I didn't get to see it, because my dad was watching races. Then my little sister bugged him SO MUCH that he grumpily got off and she watched x-men. Then she was SUPPOSED to go to bed, but does she? No. She watches X-men 2. THEN she goes to bed. When I have no choice but to go to bed also. Because it was like past midnight. *sighs* Ah well....

I finally, FINALLY finished Chemistry. I took a college Chem class - six weeks, five days a week, five hours a day - to avoid my high school science teacher who apparently obsesses over the composition of water and you learn little else. The teacher did not like me all that much. I don't know why. But he'd always look at me when talking about "giving up" and how "he's been teaching for 43 years, and he still has more energy than us". And he insulted reading. He's all "Reading novels is a waste of time." blah blah blah... he really seems to think if you don't like Chemistry, you don't ever try at something, you have no initiative. It was annoying. I took the final yesterday, and it took my nearly all of the two hours for it. Not that it was TOO hard, but I forgot all but one Gas Law, and we'd only learned about them the week before, on a FRIDAY; who pays attention for FIVE HOURS about Gas Laws on a Friday? I mean, I think I did OKAY... I might have gotten a C out of the class; if I'm astronomically lucky, a low B. But like I said, he didn't care for me much, so if it was borderline, he probably won't move it up.

EDIT: I just went to check my grade, and I got a B! Yes!!! I am soo proud of myself; I'm not all that great at science, because I don't think too much like a scientist. So a B, for a COLLEGE SUMMER COURSE, is amazing. I know the other two people who took it with me got A's (cause they're geniuses like that) and another either got a C or B, so I'm ready to celebrate come Monday... *throws a mini party*

          • I don't think I have ever had a summer so busy in my life! and it's not over yet either. In a week I go to my father's for a family visit, and from there... DWcon But that's it for August.

Not been around because I've been (a) busy, (b) away on summer camp and (c) laid up with the 'flu... in that order. Bleh.

I'm taking 'five things/times' prompts over on my LiveJournal, if anyone wants to prompt me here for YW fandom. I don't promise I'll write, but I do promise to check them out

Also, I just finished - finally - shelving all my books. I'd estimated 1000 - I was under by almost 400. I love!
Las Vegas Boulevard is jammed, and I'm in love...

            • Hi! Well, I haven't posted in the forums for ages, and the ToGR for even longer... but hi!

I need to sort out some of my childhood books to make room for my other books. I really do not want to do that. But I'm not going to get rid of them, so I guess it'll be okay.

I've had a hectic summer, and then several bad/upsetting things happened, but I'm working on getting my life back to normal, mostly.

My beloved cat, Annie, was hit by a car while we were on vacation, and didn't make it. I love her very much and it's extremely upsetting.
My uncle also has been diagnosed with cancer - but he should be fine (though he's in for a tiring year of treatment).

I saw part of the openning ceremony for the Olympics - but I missed about an hour of it. The parts I did see were absolutely incredible. I have no idea how all those people were so perfect. I really liked the next generation thing (they were focusing on the next generation needing to solve the problems that we're making. At the end of the segment, they did and the celebration scene that they depicted was wonderful).

It hasn't been that hot this summer, which is dissapointing in a couple ways, becaus it doesn't feel completely like summer, and it's harder to go swimming when you aren't hot. My family actually needs to sell my Grandma's house (she is in assisted living, due to osteoporosis). Luckily, we have had an offer that should work and are almost done emptying it.

My family has adopted a kitten from a rescue organization. She is sweet, in a way slightly similar to Annie. Her name is Koko, which means night in Native American (the organization gave the name - I don't know which Native American it is).

Sorry about any typos - I'll go back and check, but I have to get off the computer now...

              • smile! Trialia! Glad to see you guys come back on.

Busy summer, I know what you guys mean. It's been crazy ever since school ENDED. And now school is going to be beginning in two weeks. Ugh, I don't think I HAD a summer at all.

smile I know what you mean about the weather deal. It's so like, rainy... April-like not August-like, here in NH. I don't like it. I want it to be summer!!! It's my favorite season, and I only got a real summer for a week down in NC.

Oh an I'm sorry about your cat. It's hard letting go of someone that was part of your family, even it was a cat. I had to give away my doggy a few years ago. Saddest day of my life. Hope Koko will lift the spirits. Funny thing, my sister's nickname is Koko.

Congrats Jwiz!!! Now you don't have to deal with that Chem teacher.

I'm using a lot of smilies today. Haha.

So my family's still going through tough times with the financial problems. It kind of stinks... I'm so used to being able to rely on having money for things... now I have to like _borrow_ money from people. I hate that. I even hate it when people just buys things for me and says I don't have to worry about it. I know they're trying to be nice, but I feel guilty about. Just let me pay you back, that's all I'm asking for. And I know sometimes, your boyfriend is supposed to pay for things for you but that's not who I am. I like being able to fend for myself, and not have to feel guilty about them spending _their_ money on _me_.

So, I don't really know when I'm going to be, uh, "moving" out of my house, but I know I'll be leaving soon.

What really stinks is that I was supposed to bring my computer with me to my Uncle's house, and it got fried... well I don't really know if it's fried, but it doesn't work even though it sounds like it's on. Ugh, I want to write! All I can do is write on Google Docs, which is a gift from the Heavens by the way. I love it. But I can't post things on Fanfiction and Fictionpress from Google Docs. My mom's word processor is weird, so I don't want to use it...

But to end on a good note... Did anyone see the Men's Relay Swim Match last night? AMAZING!! I didn't even think that USA was going to get the Gold, but at the last possible second! Ah, that was so cool. Michael Phelps was screaming for joy when they won. It shut up the French team... (they were talking smack about the USA team). It was cool though...

Alrighty... Sorry about the, um, rant up above... I really don't have anyone to talk to about this stuff.

                  • I watched the ENTIRE opening ceremonies. It was absolutely incredible. However, I think it's really messed up that the little girl actually singing wasn't allowed to be out there because she wasn't 'cute enough'. Ugh.

Emi: Hugs. And the relay was INCREDIBLE. I was really happy to see the French team shut up. The swimmer that kept saying they were going to "smash" the US ticked me off.

The gymnastics, men and women's have been fantastic. I think both USA teams did very very well, but Alicia Sacramone messing up last night made me sad for her. You could tell by the look on her face that she knew she'd just lost her team the gold medal. But they were still amazing, especially Nastia and Shawn. And like a bunch of people, I don't think that the entire team was 16 years old. Asian girls do tend to look younger than they are, but the gymnasts looked extremely young. Extremely.

I'm sorry about everyone's pets. It's always tough when close pets die.

And I hate to be annoying, but animelvr...grammar? Please?

Lastly, sorry about the one-liner earlier.

                    • You know what always fries me about the Olympics? Is that the sports I want to watch are never televized. Even when the US is in medal contention (which, sadly, is one of the ways a network used to judge whether an event ought to be covered).

The US has over the last two summer Olympics, somehow, amazingly managed to become a medal contender in fencing. This is unprecedented. I mean, in like 50 years or something, all that the US ever won was a single bronze. And this year, in Women's Saber, the US swept: gold, silver AND bronze. And did we get to see any of it? NoooooOOoooo... And like we've got a chance in hell of seeing any of the archery competition (Korea traditionally dominates). Or the rhythmic gymnastics. (eyeroll). Ok, I get why they don't show dressage, but geez.... It's Sydney all over again, when (for the first time) women got to compete in the modern pentathalon and the US competitor got a silver medal, and not one bit of live coverage on the networks.

I'm just saying. This is one of the few times the "weirder" sports hit the arena. Why can't we see them? I'm a sucker for the modern pentathalon--the one sport that was created for the Olympics. I'm willing to bet I don't see any coverage on it this time, either, except on websites. I find it all damn annoying.

                      • kli6: I agree. I'd love to see fencing on the major networks, but no. The only Olympic fencing I've ever seen on TV is on the USA channel at one in the morning. Grr. And I absolutely love archery, but from just watching TV, you wouldn't even know there was archery at the Olympics at all. Oh, and the modern pentathlon looks really cool. You'd have to be amazingly talented to compete in that.

                        • Kli: Dressage actually was on TV this year; it was on Oxygen (apparently it's owned by NBC?) a few nights ago from 6 to 8, EST. I was pleasantly surprised by that; usually it's on at like...6 in the morning or something (ok, maybe not 6...more like 8) and it's not like I usually have time to figure out what the Olympic TV schedule is for the day by 8 in the morning.

Has anyone ever watched handball? Am I the only person in the world who's never seen this sport before? It's ridiculous, and kind of makes me laugh, but I really shouldn't because I could never play it. Handball...I guess you'd say that to me, it is what curling is during the winter Olympics. Fun sport, handball. And this year I've really watched synchronized diving for the first time. That sport is ridiculous. I wonder if it helps if you look like your diving partner...maybe somehow it tricks the judges into thinking your dives are more similar? Just an idea floating around in my head...

I leave for college on Saturday, way early because of cross country. It's kind of weird; my room is a wreck, because I'm horrible at packing. I've lived in the same house my entire life, so it's not like I've ever packed up this much stuff before. It's overwhelming, and annoying...like, you do things like pack up your entire sock drawer, then realize that you still need underwear (which is at the bottom of the bag) for the next 3 days. How do people do this sort of thing?! But I'm muddling through.

Loving my MacBook. I haven't killed it, which means that it will probably last awhile. If I'm going to kill electronics, it usually happens within the first week of opening the package (i.e. my parents' first digital camera...oops.)

Basically, I just need to leave for school, so I don't have time to worry or think about college. Today I was babysitting for a family I've sat for a few days a week this summer. Their kids are annoying, and I swear, they never have any food in their house besides sugary snacks! It drives me crazy. Usually though, the kids want to play games all day long. Of course, today when I need something to distract me from thinking about college...they want to play alone. And the baby was asleep, so I watched USA versus Korea in baseball. I hate baseball.

I'm sorry about pets...that's about as far back in TOGR I went, I don't have time to read now. I'd say I've felt the same way, but the only pets I've ever had were fish, and when they died...well, they were fish. After the first one, we just flushed them down the toilet with no ceremony.

                          *huggles Emi*

Honestly don't know when I'll be on again...it's hard to remember to come on here at times, plus I'm kind of going to be ridiculously busy at college because of cross country. But it's worth it...*huggles everyone*

I do like synchronized diving--the Chinese are absolutely incredible. Good luck packing and stuff. I'm horrible at it as well, so I have no idea what I'm going to do when I have to go to college. MacBook jealousy...I've been wanting one for a while, but I have to wait until my mom transfer's money from my dad's estate to my bank account so I don't overdraw. Again, good luck with college and cross country!

I had school registration today, where I got my schedule, choir stuff, and yearbook. I'm taking competitive speech, choir, French I, AP Biology, AP U.S. History, Algebra II, and CP English II. Exciting. The yearbook's pretty good, except there are tons of the dumbest errors I've seen in my life. For example, on the Future Teachers of America spread there was a caption talking about how they went to the local Sylvan center, and it called it the "Sylivan Learing Center". Sylivan? Learing? Honestly?! And there were several misused words and spellings and all sorts of awful stuff...overall it was a fairly good yearbook though. The cover and spreads were nice, anyway. I'm excited about the all-around gymnastics tonight...I'm cheering for Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin.
