I'm on facebook, but am deliberately not in YW groups on there...it's not that I don't love you all, it's just that I'm not comfortable with everyone knowing my real name...plus, for me, facebook is for my friends in real life. And you guys would totally figure out who I was the minute I posted on a wall or something. So, no YW facebook groups for me. But I love my facebook...one of the most useful things I've got on my computer.
Cress! *huggles* don't disappear again...we need more oldbies to come back and keep people sane. Or insane, depending on your views.
Porsches...I love Porsches. My dad has an old Porsche 911 from 1971. It's a lot of fun to ride in, since part of the top can come off, and it's kind of like a mini convertible. Here's a picture of someone's orange Porsche - my dad has a car just like that one, only white.
Love it. If I could drive stick shift, and if the insurance didn't specify that no one under 30 can drive it, I would have driven it already. Meh. I can identify some cars...Porsches, of course. Volvos. Dodge Caravans
(that's what I drive.) I can't ID specific models, but I know what brand a car is by looking at it (if I've seen it before.) My dad's kind of into cars. Not NASCAR though.
Emi! Have fun in NC...I don't know, now that it's over, I kind of miss college visits...lol. Maybe I'm crazy. But anyway, enjoy it while you can, and don't drive off the road while watching for Edward!
Babysitting has been a pain this week, because it's been so hot. Went to see that Kit American Girl movie with the 10 year old girl I babysit on Thursday. It was kind of fun...I felt like I should have had one of my American Girl dolls with me or something, since like everyone else in the theater had one. American Girl dolls were my favorite toys when I was younger; I had Samantha, and an American Girl of today with red hair and blue eyes that I named Chelsea. They were my babies. XD I had so much stuff for them...like the horse. Saving them to show my daughter(s), since I think they're one of the better toys for young girls still out there. I mean...Bratz? Even Barbies have kind of gone to the dark side (yet American Girl Company is owned by Mattel now. Sigh.) Anyway, it made me nostalgic.
Today I babysat for the other family. The kids wouldn't stop bickering, so eventually I was all "Look, go watch TV, just leave each other alone!" Not exactly the best day...we couldn't leave the house, it was so hot. Hate this heat.
Eric: yep, of course the tree's dying. Apparently, if we have another big storm, the biggest branch will most likely fall and land on my/my neighbor's houses. So, it has to come down. I say has to, since it was supposed to come down on Wednesday, and I spent the entire day at my aunt's house since we weren't allowed to be home while they cut it down. Came home...wasn't cut down because there are apparently power lines in the way. Now that I'm thinking about it, they were supposed to cut it down today, and it's still there...so I guess the electric company still hasn't come out. Argh...
I don't break electronics. Anything electronic that I own is treated like it's made of glass (I've kind of got OCD about them; but if I spend $X amount on something, I want to make sure it works as long as possible.)
Eric: (again) Yep, HHI, SC. My family's been going there for the last 12 years, so I can't wait to go back. Love it so much, it's ridiculous. But speaking of their Wal-Mart...we don't shop there anymore since they built a lovely Target on the island. XD I've got problems with Wal-Mart, but it's the only store near my college, so I guess I've got to get over that. Not planning on doing anything while there; I'm burying my feet in the sand and reading books (probably the Twilight series again, lol) the entire time. Plus re-applying sunscreen like crazy so I don't burn.
<<sunburned Seabiscuit.
I kind of feel like a kindergardener (sp) again, since I just bought a new backpack. Old Faithful (original name, I know) that lasted me all through high school got a hole in May. My Latin teacher said it's a sign that I'm ready to move on from high school. Don't know if that's true, but I do know that buying backpacks is annoying. They're all either really pink, really boyish, or made really cheaply. But I found a blue one that I like...will never be the same as my old one though.
Well...I'm kind of dead, so I think I'll go eat something and go to bed. Although I should go running. Food.

Hungry: Maybe you could get a different Facebook account that you could use for YW and other groups (or however it works) without being identified by your real name?
I would be pretty scared if there was a big branch threatening to come down on my house at the next storm.... We were expecting a thunder storm last night, and last evening at quarter after eight, it got really dark and windy.... Not good for fragile trees....
You with loving HHI, SC, and wanting to go there all the time, is just like me with Portsmouth, NH. I believe we have been going there every summer since 2003. In 2005, we went there with my sister's... let's see, what is he now... former, former, former boyfriend (
), and in 2006 we went with, at that time, my newest friend. We stayed a couple extra nights because we were having a really good time and didn't want to leave. Then last year, we went with him again, and it was cool because we were having so many "last year" memories.... Whenever we go up there, we go to Water Country, eat at our usual favorite restaurants (a couple include Gas Light Company [extreeeeemely unique pizza) and this breakfast restaurant that's decorated old-style and they have really good food for great prices....), stay at our usual hotel, etc.
OK, then you should be fine with the Mac.
Hmm, backpacks.... I have this one backpack that I've had since... I think second grade, that is still in NEW condition. In third and fourth grade, I used a backpack on wheels, replacing that one. In fifth grade, when I got in to the middle school and the lockers were too small, I had to use the old back pack again. In sixth grade, I got one that is a shiny blue and had just the right compartments for everything I had in there.... But the wrath of eighth grade text books and such tore the handle off, and the right shoulder strap is going to come off at any time.... I look at the high schoolers' backpacks and I wonder what on Earth I'm going to do about having a backpack last through four years of Backpack Hell....
This is weird, I've never had so much to say to you in the past.... Oh, well, I guess that the people I direct my attention to changes, depending who is active at the time.
I have a job mowing the lawn at my mom's church.... It is a pretty big lawn, and I have to do it with a push mower. The size of it isn't really a problem, it's just the steep hill and obstacles. And it would have helped if the lawnmower hadn't kept giving up on me.... It was probably too hot for it. I must have pulled that starter at least 50 times yesterday, and I have a blister on my left thumb to prove it.... If that is how it'll go every time, I'll have to give up the job. My left thumb isn't in the best state right now, considering that blister, and the fact that I cut myself with a wicked sharp knife cutting a hamburger bun at my friend's house a few days ago...."...Some of growing up is the knitting together of our cognitive webs, and some things take time and experience to make sense...." - Taran

animelvr2: Um... how you got your injury is extremely interesting, and oddly confusing. But I hope you heal up!!
Garrett I've seen you on the group!! Haha. I used to hate applications, but I've got a few on mine now...
Welcome back Cress!!!
Hungry: Haha, thanks, and I'll try not to drive off the road. Now, the Mercedes are turning my head. Haha. And the Porsche looks amazing.
I've seen some Mercedes... but it's not black. They're ALL white. What's up with that? But the shiny silver Volvos are still driving around.
Hungry: I never use a backpack anymore at School. I got sick and tired of taking things out of my bag and then stuffing them back in there in the beginning of class and at the end. It takes up too much time for me I guess. 'Tis a little sad that yours got a hole in it in May. Poor bag, couldn't make it to college.
Ugh, now I gots to go and clean out my room. Throw away any clothes, I don't want to keep and all the other knick knacks that I've kept in my room... Haha.
Oh and to end on a cool note. Tomorrow will be a year from when I first registered on this site. How fast it flew by.Time passes. Even when it seems impossible.
Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise.
It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me.

Happy Year-of-memebership Day, Emi! Haha...
Today has been very interesting for me. I got to church early this morning (around 9 or so) and I just got back a couple of minutes ago, at around 7:45. It was a long long day.
My dad got his new car, and we drove it to church! I like it, it's just so...SHINY! It's a greyish-blueish-purplish color with lots of shimmery sparkles in it.
We were just leaving church in it, and I suddenly thought, "Hey, I haven't seen any Cullen-ish cars today! Maybe I'm breaking the streak of seeing them constantly!"
And then a black Mercedes turned the corner, and drove right in front of the car. So much for that...Dif-tor heh smusma.

Oh, don't worry, Seabee, everyone already knows your name is Horace Q. Underwood. It's not like it's a secret or anything...Originally posted by seabiscuit1009:

kk: thanks!! Haha, I didn't think it was a year already. But then again I do recall coming on here during my summer last year...
I think you jinxed yourself when you thought that.
Speaking of Mercedes, I finally saw a black one the other day. It totally made my day. But now I see the Mercedes symbol everywhere. When is this madness going to stop?
db_pr: That's very true...
I think I maybe getting another job and quitting the one I'm at now. I don't really know for sure until after I come back from my brief little vacation down in North Carolina. I shall wait and see.
Hopefully I do get to leave the job I'm at now. The manager is starting to get on my nerves.
He scolded me about how I do WIC orders on Monday. He said I keep doing them wrong and I'm not looking at the items on the list correctly. And basically blaming me for almost making the grocery lose their WIC license. Okay, I'm a kid. I make mistakes. Geesh... So now everytime I get one I have to call one of the managers over so they can watch me ring them in and make sure I'm doing them properly.
It's bad enough when I get the customers mad a me because they didn't have the right item... now I have to watch my back for my managers! Ugh.
Alrighty sorry for the rant. I got to go and cash my mom's coins at the bank.

The Mercedes badge always seems rather like a cross-hair to me,, which when its mounted on the bonnet, always makes me wonder what they are aiming at...
Actually, the original reason for posting here was that a friend texted me yesterday to say that he'd see SYWTBAW on sale in Waterstones (major Biritish bookshop chain). The series hasn't had a UK publisher since the early 1990s (all my copies are Harcourt imports)... hopefully this has now changed."Never let your sense of morals prevent you from doing what is right" - Salvor Hadrin, in Isaac Asimov's Foundation

I'm very happy! I wasa just at a neighbor's yard sale, and they had an astounding collection of books! It was awesome!
What had happened was that the original owners had moved out of the house, and their son, his girlfriend, and roomate now live there. They didn't want all of the books that the parents had left in the house, so they were selling them.
On the list of books that I got are:
1. The Hound of the Baskervilles
2. The first three books in The Vampire Chronicles
3. "The Light Fantastic" and "The Color of Magic" by Terry Pratchett
4. Mostly Harmless by Douglas Adams
5. Christine and Four Past Midnight by Stephen King
6. The Enigma of Human Monsters: Vampires, Werewolves, and Ghouls
7. The Wizards of Langley: Inside the CIA's Directorate of Science and Technology
The last one was the one I laughed at the most, because the original owners worked for the CIA and FBI.
But it makes me wonder what type of people they are, with all of those books about vampires and werewolves.
Plus, I found another book in their collection, but didn't buy it. It was "Excorcism: A Manual for Dispelling Evil Spirits"
They are weird, weird people...Dif-tor heh smusma.

Hmm...taking a break from the beach right now so I don't die of heatstroke/sunburn. I love Hilton Head...never want to leave. I mean, they've got a Barnes & Noble here, so I could get Breaking Dawn (I got Eclipse there last year, after looking up where the bookstores were on the island before we left for vacation.) Got bit by this weird thing today in the ocean; it kind of looked like a transparent leech. Hung on like a leech does too, as a matter of fact. Ew. Maybe it was a leech. Do leeches live in the ocean? Not even sure, and really, I probably don't want to know.
Not much going on...just chilling on the beach, and checking my emails/facebook obsessively every 6 hours or so, to see if my roommate has emailed/facebooked me yet. Rooming stuff started arriving on friday, after I left for vacation. I guess there are people out there who haven't got their rooming stuff yet (I love the facebook group for my college; it's really useful to see who's got their rooming stuff already.) So, I'm annoyed that I can't check my snail mail; it's a whole 12 hours away from here.
Alright, I'm going back to the beach...adios all.

Well, I'm done with Explorations, and I can safely say I went places, relearned photoshop and maya, learned sketchup, made a stained glass work, and learned the basics of graphic design. I don't remember if I said it yet, but my next camp is Folie Technique, à l'école Polytechnique. Isn't that punny? It's in the University of Montreal, to be exact.
kk: It's actually "The Colour of Magic". Terry Pratchett is British, so I can't just let that slide.
As for you, Cyber Mirage, I don't know you, but I'd like to learn some Japanese from you. I know plenty, but there's a lot of room for improvement.
My long absence was from viruses and some spyware that just wouldn't go away. My brother actually had my hard drive for around a week.
Well, The Magic of Recluce (by L.E. Modesitt,Jr) is a great book, and I finished it. I'm going to start reading a book called Split Heirs in a bit. I'll (hopefully) post later on."If his grin was any wider the top of his head would have fallen off"
