Happy belated birthday, Kaiba. *huggles* Lemme find a present... Aayaya: present
Heh: I... really don't know what YuGiOh is all about or what the guy looks like, but I tried to do the guy "with the hair." XD Whatever, my sad excuse of a virtual Birthday present.

I FINISHED MY REPORT AND POSTER!!! Now to do my speech, which is pretty much an extended version of an already written and printed outline. I have homework in language arts and a test in history, but the test I can't worry about -- I've done as much as I can. *squee!* IT'S CIRCLE!!! Yeah, Slipknot again. Anyway, language arts... everyone is mad at the teacher. We had a vocab quiz on Friday. There was a word box with the 20 words we studied and then 15 questions. About half were fill in the blanks with sentences. The sentences didn't help at all; almost _any_ word could fit into several. And Monday she yelled at our class saying, "we have a lot of bad grades. You should be studying!" Students from some of her other language arts classes were complaining about the same thing. And she just doesn't get it. And yeah, this was a teach I liked at the beginning of the year. Kaiba, mine was the 13th. XD Friday the 13th.

So I'll talk about procrastination. What fun. Long deadlines like what I had for my geosystems project don't work for me. Not at all. A paper I could get done in two days, but I get several weeks, and if I don't watch myself, I'll try to do it the day before it's due and at 9:00. Pressure and stress are two different things. Stress is what I feel until the presentation is over with. Pressure is until I finish working on the parts of the presentation. Stress overwhelms. Pressure motivates... in it's own way. Stress: "I'm never going to get this done -- I'll fail." Pressure: "If I don't get this done, I'll fail."

So here's something that does work with long deadlines. I asked on the bus if the report had to be due on the 23rd of the day of the presentation. E replied the day of the presentation. I give mine in two days. Whereas I thought I'd have the weekend also. (!!!) I came home thinking, I need to get this done _now_. With a few interruptions, I finished 3/4ths of my report in two hours, went downstairs, saw that there was a relevant article in a magazine, and typed up more about the importance of knowing about hurricanes, mentioning the article and how it affects us. Then I cut it out. Before I actually started on my report, though, I did one of my weird things. They're not good for getting my project done, but they're kinda good for doing other stuff.

Weird Thing:
Began typing
I tried to find the guidelines for the geos project in my binder.
Started to sort through and organize/ clean out papers in binder
Got more blank paper because I was low
Passed through kitchen, got an orange
Cleaned off living room table so I'd have room for my orange
Remembered project (!)

So back on topic. Ooh, but I forget what direction I was going in... whatever. I might just contradict myself, but I'll *try* not to.

The best way to not get distracted and do something else is to... not do anything else. As soon as you get home, don't read, don't get on the computer, don't play outside, don't watch TV. Do the homework first. Usually if I read, I'll think about my book. While working, if I start to work at all, I'll think: "As soon as I'm done, I'll go read..." Or: just a few more pages; I can do this later. Or: I'll stop to read.

You know you're reading. Just don't. Don't delay in starting your project.

Wooh, some help I am. As if. XD

Uh, gryph, how does that work in this particular topic? If you go by its name, that was on topic. As for delays... I don't know if you guys get tazos (aka: pogs, milk caps...) in chips and that, but we do. recently one of the companies has released a series of chinese food flavoured chips and you get little cards with sayings and that on them. The first one I got was: 'Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day afer.' What sort of a thing is that to say to a uni student :O!!! nice rant earlier by the way. How many people have read it?. Geology rocks pun intended of course

*sigh* I really should be doing some work. I can't be bothered though...

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG I'M GOING TO SEE EPIII IN A LITTLE OVER 12 HOURS!!! I'm so excited. Can you tell?

Wow, a newbie actually made a long post... my comment at the end actaully worked Muahahaha. Actually, that post length is nothing compared to what Gibby writes when he shows up ...

well... I had better leave and do some work for Earth Science... My friends will be getting here soon too...

• It got mentioned a few times in chat, but I haven't seen it in any post, so I thought I'd point to DD's biography and say that Wednesday, May 18th, is her birthday.

Gryphon: I knew I'd get a Gryphyglare .
Uh, am I getting the wrong impression here? From what you've said about your chemistry and language arts teachers, it sounds as if any education you're getting is despite your teachers, not because of them.

• Wednesday, May 18th... XD I was like, wait, so I missed it -- today is Friday. *blink blink* Yesterday was the 17th. Hmmm.

I don't know, so don't ask.

Anyway, happy Birthday, DD! XD

TEACHERS DON'T TEACH!

The substitute that we've had the past few days for Chem is cool. We started to read (attempted) a section in the book and then solve a problem that it had afterwards. We had NO IDEA how to do any of it. So when we were doing "huh???"'s back at each other, the substitute came over, and explained (obviously we weren't the first group who didn't get it) that part of it we had to know from doing previous reading. So go back a chapter, and use what you know here. "We don't know anything in that chapter." "Dr. Chem doesn't teach..." "We don't learn in this class; we just get work that we don't understand." Sub: "Oh." So he went back and explained what the chem textbook failed to explain. The assignment was supposed to be turned in, but there were several more parts, so he just said, "bring it to class tomorrow."

I think I need to stop listening to Slipknot for a while. Or at least not right before I go to school. If I start singing it during school, some people would be thoroughly freaked out. XD My Chem. table classes it as "emo" music along with Green Day's "American Idiot." Slipknot is better than Sum 41, so now it's in second place. (Guess first!)

About post length... Alla was joking, and, if you see Gibby, so is his signature. Really, I think about a paragraph, but it being a little long or two short ones is okay. Not a couple of lines. And if it's all fluff, it's as good as a one-liner.

• Happy belated birthday, Kaiba!

Happy birthday, DD!

Our ICP teacher is awesome. *grin* Though, she has a strange obsession with notes and worksheets... We have our final on Friday. It's open notes. She took all the questions from the test and mixed 'em up a bit to make a study guide. Then she says to copy it into our notes (after we checked it) so we can use it on the test. Hopefully, it'll be easy.

*sigh* My mom's gonna kill me when she sees what I got on the Algebra test. 89%. Good heavens. She got upset when I got a 92%. *sigh*

Well...yeah. Toodles!

Happy birthday, DD!

I sort of forgot that in the original post... d'oh!

Gryphon: There is something very wrong with you learning more about the subject from a substitute than from your regular teacher . I gather that, years ago, teachers used to graduate as chemistry teachers, maths teachers or whatever, but there is now this idea that they graduate in teaching, and can teach any subject. So, how do you think that's working out?

• Happy birth-day, DD! Your birthday is two days after mine and five after Gryph (if that's right), isn't that cool??

Gryph: I like the picture you drew, it only complimented on the Pharaoh's looks...
And you said that teachers don't teach... duh!! For the last three years of junior high in English clas I keep getting teachers that teach me NOTHING, while my friends get good teachers and brag...it's not fair...

A 92%? And she got upset?? Just so you know, that's a perfectly fine grade! I just got a 70% on a math quiz-- I ended up raising it to a 85%, with corrections and since my teacher was ina good mood.... but still, even a 89% is a VERY good grade for ALGEBRA!!

Today we DANCED in french class. We danced the salsa and ballroom. Or attempted to. I have no idea what it has to do with FRANCE, but we did it anyway... maybe 'cause Mary Antoinette danced the Viennese Waltz or something.... anyway it was interesting. During the part where the teacher's did the salsa (as an example of what we'd never dream of being capable of doing), which was by far the coolest
dance they did. I was extremly bored and daydreamed about Ryou and Bakura doing the salsa, aka the dance of love (or something like that) It was sweet (Ok... I'm so wierd...if anyone even knows what I'm talking about they'd understand...)

Oh no. Math finals are next week. NOOO!! I'm so gonna die!! (aka, FAIL, and not be able to get in highschool...I guess I should study)

And if it's your WORST test score over the course of a whole year... that's literally unbelievable! I'm envious.

So I finished Deep Wizardry yesterday - ok, I have to admit it's totally changed my perception of the book. I'm not sure what it was I hated so last time but this time around I was a lot more tolerent.

Rattled through High Wizardry happily. Even though it's Dairine-centric, it's still a great book, with a corking payoff.

A Wizard's Dilemma up next. I really didn't like that one and I read it not long ago but after my success with DW, I'm going to give it a chance.

I thought it was the most boring one out of all of them, but over the last year I have liked it more and more and its now level pegging with the rest of them But my Favorite is still DW!! Im glad you like it better now.
