Umm... Z, you mean like girly books like the A-List, just not as nasty? Yeah sure, I could name a few if you'd like... but I'd have to find them, tell me if that's the kind of book you are asking about and I'll find some really good ones for you. K?
BTW: I finally got my swap book today!!

    • Sam: I've been looking for books like Princess Diaries and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. But I don't want you to go through the trouble of looking at books for me, only if you have some reccomendations.
I can't believe I'm still looking for The Perilous Gard I guess I have to go to Barnes and Noble and buy it over the weekend.
While I'm buying it I'll start another book swap:

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Book 1
      or you can choose
      Princess Diaries Book 1

        • ZGirl, there's no rush on the Pope book. Take your time! It'll wait for you. Thanks for the info on the PD sequels.

If you really can't find it, then I'll come up with something else, like Anne McCaffrey's Dragonsong.

          • Agent M, I will trade with you. I have finished sucking down Angels and Demons, and need a new book. You can choose from any of the books I previously posted, or you can take a new one:
Nine Princes in Amber, Book 1 of a 5-volume set by Roger Zelazny. Corwin wakes up in a private hospital with no memories, but a beautifully illustrated deck of Tarot cards with strange powers. His memory starts to return, and things hit the fan... One scene of non-explicit sex (Clothes start to come off, the door closes type). Less than 200 pages. or
The Price of the Stars by Debra Doyle and James D. Macdonald. Star-wars type High Space Opera, complete with Mages and Adepts. Eons ago, the Mageworlds and the Republic fought a grim war, from which both sides are still recovering. Beka Rosselin-Metadi's mother is killed under suspicious circumstances, and her father gives her his old warship to find out whodunnit. BTW, Beka's mother was one of the high mucky-mucks of the Republic, so Beka has to go undercover. Romance, magic, space battles.

            • But all of your books look so good meteorite!!!
Hmmm... Nine Princes in Amber sounds good and so does Snow in August... Which one did you like better?
Hmmm, out of the books I've suggested (which aren't many) I think you'd like Sphere better, it's kinda creepy and it's got a lot of twists and sci fi in it, it's REALLY good. It's Michael Crichton, what do you expect?

              • Actually, M, if no one else is reading it already, I'd like to try City of the Beasts *mumbles* I've already read Sphere.

Depending on how far afield you feel like reaching, I'd suggest you read Nine Princes in Amber. It's closer to the mainstream of things I see people suggesting. It's a fast read, but it will drop you off at something of a cliffhanger -- remember, I said it was volume 1 of a 5-part series! OTOH, Snow in August stands by itself, but it is longer. There is some violence in it; several people are beaten up, and there are some anti-Semitic activities. You might be able to get school credit for reading it, since it is a Pulitzer prizewinner. It really depends on if you feel like reading something that is more fantasy (NPiA), or more grounded in the real world (SiA).

                • I know Meteorite already stole it, but I'll take City of the Beasts too. I'm going to the library today, so I wanna be sure I have all my books before I go. M, for City of the Beasts, I'll make you read the Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett. That and the Wee Free Men are children's books by him. The adult ones are better but sometimes they have innapropriate stuff.

                  I need:
                  *Enchantress from the Stars
                  by Sylvia Engdahl
                  *To Visit the Queen
                  by Diane Duane
                  *Amulate of Samarkand (Bartimaeus Trilogy)
                  by Jonathon Stroud

If I missed any, please btell me soon before I leave!!!

                    • You could also try looking under On Her Majesty's Wizardly Service, which, as I recall, was how it was issued in the UK. Rather unlikely that it would show up under that title in a US library, though. Kind of like the Sorcerer's Stone/ Philosopher's Stone kafuffle.
