    • I've never had fights with friends. If I have a problem with one of them I'll tell my other BFF. I trust her to not tell the other friend...I only have a few friends who are boys. My friend Micheal lives in Missouri and is really nice. I see him every year.

            • see, ppc, I don't really mind living without technology because I'm with all my Suzuki friends... which is a lot of fun. 'cause we've known each other since we were five or six. All the embarassing stuff we've already done, so you don't need to worry about making a fool of yourself- plus, by the time you get to my age, everyone at Suzuki Camp is their own person. There's something unconventional about everyone, so you don't need to worry about being a freak.

And it's just occurred to em that I behave very differently at camp than I do at, say, school. At school eveyrone expects me to be disorganise and a walking talking disaster area. So I am. At camp everyone expects me to be reliable, responsible, one of the older (oldest, actually) kids, taking care in my classes, being I guess a leader. And so I am. Funny... I've heard all that stuff about how you behave as people expect you to, but I didn't think it applied to me.

*hugs Melissa* I know, it sucks to be fighting. But don't hate yourself for it: everyone does it. In fact, if he's being so juvenila as to refuse to speak to you, you probably weren't at fault in the first place. *hugs again* We love you.

              • Eh...when I went it was my first and only time, and I didn't know a soul there, much less fit into any of the established cliques. And I'm really very painfully introverted around new people IRL, though it's mostly better now.
And what do we expect you to be here?

                • We're to small to have cliques. I guess there are only about ten, maybe 20 people my age, so....
Oh, except the whole boy/girl thing. Boys go one place, girls go another. But that's pretty bog standard, and it doesn't always happen.

Heh, yeah, I bet we're all shy.

And then, there's MY school... let's not even go into it. Other than, if you're not in one of the three real established groups, you can be a loser like me. There are the Preps (popular crowd), Fundies, and Druggies. Then there are the Outcasts. Outcast is probably best. even if the entire school acts like you're inferior, and you don't get invited to the friday parties or anything, it still rocks because you can pretty much be who you want, and the other outcasts don't care. man, I go skipping down the hallways singing with one of my friends, and it's not like anyone cares because we're outcasts. They just tell us we're freaks, and to get lost. heh.

                    • There used to be Girl Preps, Boy Preps, Girl Jerks, Boy Jerks, Girl Nerds, and Boy Nerds. Now there are just "THE PREPS" which are practically all the girls and boys. Then the boy nerds, the girl nerds, the jocks, and one little side group that I'm in that is like the outcasts, but not quite. Inbetween preppies and nerds. The nerds are different than normal nerds...

                      • At that particular camp, there were The People Who All Knew Each Other Since Practically Infancy, and then there was...me. In hindsight, I suppose it was rather predictable.

*hugs ppc* Aww. If I'd been there, I would have talked to you- we get some new people every year, and they seem to get on fine... Not all Suzuki people are horrible and exclusive, OK? Just the idiots.

                          • Yeah, we have a lot of groups at my school. I think every school does. But I don't really fit in with any of them, so I just mingle and make friends with everyone. I hate having enemies, so I just don't get in anyone's way. Unless, of course, someone insults one of my friends. Then, if they value their life, they had better RUN. I may seem like a very quiet person, but I don't tolerate bullying of anyone. My sister gets bullied at school, and I've seen what it does to people, so if I see it, I always try to stop it...one way or another.

                            • Schools in my area are typically unacceptive...

My school's a county school- kids come knowing their friends and yeah. It's also about 98% white, and certain students can be quite racist. I've dealt with it, you get used to it. *shrug* Had an emotional breakdown last year about this time, got kinda weird after. I'd start feeling that it was my fault that I was getting treated like dirt, and about the same time, a lot of the people I thought were my friends deserted me because apparently I'm "different" and "not someone people wanted to associate with." And it really didn't help because I started feeling that it was my fault, and then I'd do weird things like feel I didn't deserve to be warm and stuffm and I'd purposely underdress for the weather, things like that. Except I'm also naturally a very buoyant, alive and happy person, so it didn't have any real lasting effects. Real friends made sure I got switched out of the classes that caused me trouble sort of thing. Yep. My school's also one of the best in the district though.

Feel sorry for the kids in the high school my parents originally wanted me to go to. Predominantly non-white, they're also situated in an area with two gangs and yeah... a white girl there got her arm broken and beat up for being white...

Most schools in my district have varying degrees of this. Most high schools do. But I only note this because I'm a loser. And only losers note this sort of thing. The people that are accepted into cliques usually don't care outside their cliques except to disapprove and torture some non-member of their group. So really, it doesn't matter how I see it. *shrug* Life is life.

Does every school group give nicknames to each other. Not as an insult but as a ,you know, friendly nickname?
I ask because all of my group have nicknames.
