The War

<Oh no!! What's happening to this topic?? It's slowing down, dying!!! This is not good!>

Lilly flew up to the top of the smoldering fortress, eyeing the carnage below intensely. Could it be? Had her father truly been killed? Was the bond that connected them broken forever?

Suddenly, her body stiffened, and her vision went blurry for a moment. When it cleared, all she could see was her father. "Come to me, Lilly," he said. "We have work to do."

Lilly tried to break the connection, but she could not move. This had never happened before, and she was frightened. She felt compelled to do exactly what her father demanded. It was as if he had wormed his way into her brain, wrapping his thoughts around her own. Silently, she descended among the wizards and began to draw her knives out.

"Alright, Diego, I know I sound completely freaky. But honestly--" Letalis stops as a golden orb of light pulsates through the sky. In it, two figures are rising--to the stars. "Is that LILLY????? Who's that man with her?" In a flurry of wings, Asharran lands, suddenly a stunning young adult with flashing black eyes and red hair. She folds her wings back into her skin. "I can't believe you three didn't know about LAND. I mean, I have known I could fly for years." Letalis raises an eyebrow skeptically. "CRAP!!!!!!!! Diego, sword!" Letalis tosses Diego her blade with a gold tassel upon the handle. "Ash, uh, knife!" The knife flips through the air unsteadily until Ash closes her grip on it. "Nightshade, ax! By the tree!" A group of "bad guys" begins to close in on the four, and Diego lops one of the heads off. Letalis raises her bow and sends a signal into the air for help, which a few see and run over.

Martina jerked around and stared at Lilly. "Lilly? What's the matter?"

<OOC: db, we really need you to keep up with Ged and Diego's roles here... Ged at least is really important because he's the leader, and I can't really play him properly... I've been waiting for him to answer Questing's question, because I thought he was best qualified...>

(Yeah, ditto. I get confused with no Diego. And Ged, same thing. Birdhead, you do a really good Martina job.) "Oh, God, Oh, God!" Letalis murmurs in anxiety. "Ok, uh..." She strings an arrow and lets it loose. It kills a troll about to chop of Ged's head from behind. "nevermind that. diego, Nightshade, Ash!" Ash stabs a man's thigh, and in his dying moment, he slashes open her chest. Nightshade tries to help but is blinded momentarily and stabbed to the bone in the thigh. "Diego!" Letalis screams in war cry. "You have to finish them off! Those three! Otherwise the LAND will never last!"

From the corner of her mind that Lilly was trapped in, she tried calling out to Martina. But it was of no use. Her father had taken control of her body, and all she could do was watch and wait as her father answered for her.

"I'm fine," she said smoothly, swiftly concealing her daggers. "But I think we should go into the fortress to look for my father. He must be in there somewhere, and we have to stop him before he does anything, don't we?"

Martine frowned, unconvinced. "Uh, okay, if you're sure... yeah, I guess finding your father sounds like a good idea. Look, just a moment..." Martina closed her eyes and frowned for a moment. "There's still some trouble somewhere- funny, I thought it had died down by now.. it's.. I think it's Diego and Letalis and that. They're..." she squinted, "I think they're round the other side somewhere. Questing, do you want to go look for them? it sounds like they need a hand."

<OOC:OK, that's my lame attempt to get some kind of cohesion. If I can get Questing to go see LAND and bring them back to us in the fortress with Lilly's father, then we can sit down and have a long chat about what exactly we're doing. Meteorite, hope you don't mind going over and picking up the children... Kidding! Questing is with Martina, isn't she? *crosses fingers*>

"Yeah, I think we're almost finished by now." Said Ged to Questing "But we gotta find Lilly's father, and so--" But he was cut off. Because at the same time Letalis alarm sprang into the sky "What the..." Said GEd but he was already running towards it...

Without a word after Letalis said that Diego took out his sword at the same time that Sirius shot a 10 foot wide ray of fire towards the flying enemies. He got one but another one instantly evaded it and turned towards Nightshade who was fighting yet another one. "NIGHTSHADE, WATCH OUT!!!" Cried Diego as he tried to reach it but he was too away...

Letalis' eyes opened in fright. "Diego, there's no way we can last without help." She sends another signal into the air. "Martina! Ged! Questing!" Letalis screams so loud that it seems the battle stops and everyone hears, and she ruptures her vocal chords. Letalis coughs and begins vomiting on the ground. Diego slashes away another opponent. A troll cuts a scar vertically in the center of Letalis' lips. She coughs again, vomiting blood, with no voice left--literally.

Martina's head jerked around and she blanched, then started sprinting towards where the voice had come from. "Rysadeh! Roux! Hurry up, here... I knew there was a problem but she sounded terrible-" rounding a corner she pulled to an abrupt halt and grabbed her sword, then set off towards the embattled quartet. Finally coming to the group, she began hacking her way through- utterly without finesse, but effective, swinging her sword wide. "Letalis! Are you alright?" She looked at the blood, horrified. "My god-" She decapitated an attacker- "What happened?" She hissed at another, and she exploded. "You look terrible!"

(Hey, come on. it's a little far-fetched...but what was I supposed to say?)
Letalis sat up, tears streaming down her face, cutting clean streaks through the dirt. She shook her head. Ash raised her head, gasping, from the ground. "Martina...help us. Diego's fighting... and Night's hurt...and Letalis..." Ash feebly moved to sit up. She reached out to Letalis, who was still vomiting and coughing. "Here, Talis." Ash raised her hand and touched Letalis' cheek. "You all realize she's a mute now, right?" Ash shrieked angrily. "You all know what she did for us? Unless we find a storage area to pool our magic...she'll die. And it's 99.9% not gonna happen that she'll ever talk again. SOMEONE HELP NIGHTSHADE!!! SOMEONE START A MAGIC POOL!" All members of the battle start to feel some of their power drain. Letalis faints. Asharran begins to heal...slowly, surely. "DIEGO!"

"Ha!" Shouted Diego while he slayed yet another attacker but then he turned towards them, who were talking by the corner, to help them but at that moment an enemy landed just at his back and hit him . He came flying like a bullet besides Martina bleeding at his back. "Bloody hell!" He screamed "First this scar and now my back!" And then he saw hope. Ged, Questing and others were aproaching them. But when he saw all the dead wizards lying in a pool of coagulated blood besides Ged, he went berserk. "GED, MAGIC POOL NOW! QUESTING, LILLY FIND YOUR FATHER!"

"Ha!" Shouted Diego while he slayed yet another attacker but then he turned towards them, who were talking by the corner, to help them but at that moment an enemy landed just at his back and hit him . He came flying like a bullet besides Martina bleeding at his back. "Bloody hell!" He screamed "First this scar and now my back!" And then he saw hope. Ged, Questing and others were aproaching them. But when he saw all the dead wizards lying in a pool of coagulated blood besides Ged, he went berserk. "GED, MAGIC POOL NOW! QUESTING, LILLY FIND YOUR FATHER!" After literally shouting this he picked up his sword. Went after the attacker who hit him and while dripping blood from his hair and back, he swung his sword and slashed him in a half in one clean cut. Then he went for the others, one flew up when it saw him. Diego paralyzed him in a spell while doing another spell for cutting his wings. While it was lying in the floor, the wretched creature started rocking forward and backwards like a cockroach without legs trying to walk. Diego, merciless in his trance, stabbed him in the heart or were a heart would've been in a human.

Rysadeh and Roux's smoke break ended with Martina's call. "Hup... Let's go," grunted the demon, and they sprinted off. The battle was around the wall they had been leaning up against.

"And, why didn't we hear this going on?" pondered Roux. Rysadeh shrugged. "Eh..."

Screaming something primal, they charged into the battle. Rysadeh's sword flashed in the light as it came down on the shoulder of one soldier, breaking bones and cutting a foot deep into his chest. Roux head butted the closest enemy in the chest, turned and kicked another's knee out the back of his leg, and stabbed another through the eye. Rysadeh was confronted with a heavily armored fighter, bearing two wide bladed swords. The armor turned a nice shade of glowing red as the soldier inside crisped like bacon, and fell face down. The demon stepped over the hunk of sweet smelling debris, cut upward through the stomach of the next one in line, and brought the weapon back down to remove an arm that was out too far.

Roux was kicking the corpse as he pulled a sword from it's skull. "Give me that!" He turned to face another, "Merry christmas!" Slice. He jumped on the body, and viciously stomped. "Yeah! You want fries with that!?"

"Roux...

...

Roux? Hey, listen. I'm gonna drop some magic into that pool for them. You keep them off me, okay?"

"Yeah."

Rysadeh closed his eyes, but a red glow forced it's way out from them anyway. It seemed he grew taller, and his stained clothes and hair became weightless, blown back slightly by the wind. His feet left the ground, and the breeze started to push him. Roux pulled a belt from one soldier's pants, impaled the man, took his sword and kicked him over. Roux quickly buckled the belt to Rysadeh's leg, and then impaled the other end of the belt, and thrust it into the ground. "Stay, ya damn floating..."

"Shut up and keep them off me."

"It was a bad line and a prank call, someone spouting insane babble; I couldn't make sense of it. But I had an overwhelmeing sense of deja vu, and the caller's voice sounded oddly familiar."

Martina grimaced. "Magic pool... well, I sure have enough." Putting her back up against a handy tree, she continued slashing at the few foolhardy bad guys* who persisted in attacking her. Her motionms took on a slightly automatic cast as her eyes went vague and she shuddered for a moment, before straghtening up. "Well, that's done... now, to battle to battle."
