Questing returns dusting her hands. "Okay, I have five of your oversized arrows primed to accept the fireball spell. Cast it normally, and make the arrow the recipient. The arrow will suck up the spell; the next thing you shoot it at will also get the fireball linked to the arrow strike."
She goes over to the parapet and looks down. The plain below looks like the Battle of Helm's Deep, with vague figures running around, and siege engines arriving in the distance. "Didn't you say something about allies? And scouts bringing us intel? I've been in positions like this before, and it's never been good."

In the fortress, a young woman watched Questing from the shadows. Finally, she shook her head and walked over to her.

"Your spell looks really good," she began, "and I'm sure it would work in normal conditions, but it won't kill the vampires. These aren't your average vampires. Sure, the arrows may slow them down a bit, keep them out of the fight for a while, but it won't destroy them.

"To do that, you'd have to kill their leader who, surprisingly enough," she continued dryly, "isn't here."

She stood there, arms crossed defiantly, as if daring Questing to ask where she knew all this information from.

Questing blinked, then smiled wryly. Be careful what you ask for... she muttered to herself. "Ah. I presume you are one of the intelligence mongers I was hoping for. If arrows with fireballs attached won't make the vampires very unhappy, what will be efficacious? And what was that you said about their 'master' not being here? I'm open to suggestions. Magic, troops, or..?" She let the sentence trail off, and looked at the newcomer hopefully.


OOC: dB, let's wait to see if aphro_ will return. I don't want her to be angry with you if we jump the gun and run her character(s) without her authorization. Of course, if we get in a sticky spot...

Martina nodded at her sister, and then shifted her attention to the newcomer.
"How do you know that? How are you sure? Oh, Questing, we did send out a couple fo scouts- but they were captured. Diego, who we mentioned, was one of them... Nightshade, our other scout, we believe went to look for him. However, I think Marama should be able to help with intelligence. If," she looked at the newcomer, "you would like some help, that is. But I think we really need to know where ou're getting your information."

Marama took a moment to groom herself, then strolled into the scene. "I think I may know a little about vampires...they are, after all, nocturnal. Silver, garlic, holy water (although that last is extremely difficult to find nowadays), religious symbols...oh, and they don't always stay dead when you kill them. I suggest airtight glass bottles."
OOT: Tui, remember Carpe Jugulum? hehehe...but it would just complicate matters if these guys had developed immunities.

Diego walked through the former wall and immeadiately froze. Only 30 yards away from Nightshade was a gigantic vampire. It was almost as big as Sirius but...that was a dragon...thi is a vampire. Vampires aren't supposed to grow half that one size.
Umm...Nightshade, look behind you Diego said as he opened his "pocket" and extracted a spell that does a kind of wall of smoke. Only that that smoke is made and smells srongly of garlic. Get closer to me Nightshade, so the wall can cover you!
OOT- Papercrane: Sirius was were he fell in a sort of cloak right? And he needed a password to heal or something. Right?

Nightshade didn't waste time saying something useless like "Who? What? Huh?" (All right, she started to...but the point is, she didn't finish) Diving towards Diego, she Changed into a dragon in midair. As she landed, she whipped around to see the vampire and gasped.
OOT: Nightshade did a sort of dragon spell on him; he's in a kind of cloak made of flame and time's stopped inside that cloak. We'll pick him up on the way back.

OOT-Okay, I just thought we could use him right now but he is still hurt. We could use my phoenix....
You any good with weapons? If we could find any garlic we could attach it to a weapon. I'm gonna call James so he can bring me garlic but he is in a long distance and now we have more pressing things to do. Diego opened his "pocket" again and this time took out another spell. This time a custom made by himself. You know what this does? It acts like an arrow but 3 times as powerful, and it is white light. Vampires detest white light. We will not be able to kill him. No, but we need to at least hurt him and lure him to the fortress. I called for help from my planet. Soldiers will be there. They will be ready. Diego used the spell and it hit the Vampire's wing, but it merely made him dive a little bit, it did not hurt it. We have to aim for the heart! It's gonna be hard because he is fast moving but we have to! The vampire turned and went towards them...

OOT: Yeah, I guess...oh well. The phoenix is good too. Besides, Nightshade's a half-dragon although she is smaller than Sirius.
Back-in-topic: Nightshade, human again, grabbed Diego's arm as he was about to cast the spell.
This isn't an ordinary vampire. When I turned around, I fired a spell at him that ought to have reduced him to dust, but he's even stronger. We need time...but we don't have it. There's only one thing left to do--run!

Questing comes up lugging a big pot that looks like she stole it from the kitchen. It is half full of earth, and there are small green pungently scented shoots pushing up from the dirt. As people watch, the shoots are getting bigger. Quickly.

out of topic: im confused as well. also why did you drag this on for 18 pages and 20 days? why dont you call in help from say ...timeheart? or call some of alaalu's people. there should be some everywhere. at least on per world. or rirhaits. the crossings could be very helpfull. they could gate people into the fortress, and gate enemies(such as math problems) into places like the center of a star.
