My friend also brought this really tiny toy computer to be like the computer manual like Dairine has and a car antennae. I brought a wooden wand but I couldn't get a Rowan wand. It was fun, but no one knew what we were. Oh well, it's their loss, right? Right.

YOu know, i don't think I have met a single person in my school who has read these books. I've actually taken to making sure everyone around me sees the book just on off chance I run into someone from the sight!

But I'm caught with the whole lying thing.... I tend to lie a lot to my mother... Like when she asks me what I've been doing, where I've been... etc, I can't tell her that kind of stuff. "I've been on the roof mom" "I've been chatting with people on the internet mom" when you love to write lying typically comes easy... *cringes*
NO offense M, but uh, I think that would be classified as a lie. I'm a writer, and I am in no way prone to lying. (note, THIS IS NOT A LIE!)

You're saying yes to a life that has more death and pain facing you in the eye than otherwise. You're facing a presumably shortened life - those that attract the One's attention will suffer the consequences. You're facing immense power-draining wizardries...and what if your parents reject it?

Think about it - not to sound like the Lone One here - but think about it HARD.
I know there's a lot of pain and suffering involved with being a wizard, but I Think it's worth it. I mean, think about what it is to be a wizard. to be able to cast spells, to know that the stuff from the books you read from every day, and in some cases write, can actually be real. Besides, I think I have a few choice words for the lp anyways.

Yes, I think I would. I love books, am REALLY good with languages, and have been able to handle far worse situations with more ease than most people I know.

And YES, I've taken the oath out loud. Several times. 8)

Taking the Oath and becoming a Wizard is one of those things that I would really, really love to think I could do. In truth I don't know how I would hold up, because I've never been tested in that way (I imagine few people have).

But I think about how excited, how enthralled I become every time I read any of the books, especially the first one, and I think, I would do it - no matter how hard I knew it would be. Because it would be worth it.
And the Dragon's song, so wild and strong,
Fell from the sky like rain
Upon my soul; which, watered well,
Bloomed with a joy no words can tell
Where once was a dusty plain.

Joe i take it your on about Eldest etc, I have to say Eldest was too me a total waste of paper. it filled in alot of information from the Eragon book BUT in writing that book chris lost the spirte of the book, it did not have the same feel to it as the first book had. I dont know what everyone else thinks. anyway I dont know if it came down to the choice of either a dragon rider or a wizard i dont know which way i would go. on one hand you have someone speical in your life with a bond like no other but on the other hand you get to explor the universe and yourself and help out everyone. I would like to think that I might go the wizard way but it would be sooo cool to have a dragon partner!

For people whom think they took the oath when they were naive enough to belive it, perhaps that is what is stoping it from working because you're mind won't accept it as reality therefore it won't work for you. Remember magic dosen't live in a unwilling heart remember?
