      I thought everybody knew that!

Although, it is an extremely concerning issue. My family does the best it can with recycling/reusing (Under my strict command, of course )

You would think . And please don't get so cocky. A lot of people rely on Fox news, for goodness's sake.

          Could you rephrase that, please?

There is an exceptional movie about it called "How we destroyed the electric car" It discusses how gas, oil, and power companies hold back any attempt at getting away from gas-powered vehicles.

In fact, legislation passed by our wonderful government who does so much for the environment is making it impossible to even explore most other avenues. The hybrid got by on being only half electric...

We are a sad, greedy, wasteful society.

This whole page is full of replies from the past hour or two. Wow....

I feel slightly guilty about starting this topic because it makes people think of how the world is terrible. And people read about other people's ideas that they never thought of so they think the world is worse than they originally thought.

Once, my dad and I were at our neighbor's house (the same neighbor who called the fire department on the nut job! ) and my dad was talking about how he heard a story about how one person bought an SUV, and him and a few friends drove it to... I think it was Montreal, maybe? Somewhere in Canada. But anyway, they were driving the SUV... and driving... and driving... and finally one of them notices they've made it in to Canada and they haven't stopped for gas yet. They all wonder about that for a bit and forget about it. They make it to Montreal, and they still had a quarter tank left at that point.... And soon after the guy bought got back, he got a call from the motor company saying they gave him the wrong model. They delivered the correct model, took the one with amazing fuel economy, and destroyed it. And this was a while ago... thirty years, maybe? Some of these statistics I gave may be a little off, but you get the picture, I'm sure.

If they had the technology to get legendary fuel economy then, they most certainly can now. But they chose to destroy those vehicles. I don't think the people making all the money don't really like hybrid cars, either, but they DO use gasoline so they'll have to deal with it.

It's an urban legend. No such thing ever happened. The technology is indeed here, but it didn't happen yet.

A legend? Hmm... I'll have to do research on that.

Maybe I was thinking of the wrong place/wrong time/wrong person....

ummm i was being a smart [alec] and a little sarcastic... mostly the fact is people dont want to do whats best for the community but a way that can rack the money in the quickest way and if they have to make it harder on the people they will do it.

EricG1793: dont feel bad about starting this topic... even if you didnt it would be going on anyway and this way maby if we write about it... hopfully someday somone will read this (or even somone from the topic can do it.) and fix some of the stuff going on... i mean its going on and its good to talk about.
                    right?

It gives me hope Eric. It's good to see that awareness on nothing more than doing a kind act still exists.

Sometimes I lose faith in that, and although the topic is negative the thoughts being put to use and gathered may not be.

People here were already upset at the war, pollution, electric cars, and bad education, but now they can share those fears with other people. This doesn't make them go away, but you didn't put them there, you simply put a thread out asking about them.

I like this thread. It gets our heads out of the clouds. We are fanatasy lovers, but this is no fantasy.

Isn't it annoying when you meet people who don't believe in globalwarming?

EricG1793 don't feel guilty about starting this topic. In fact maybe someone in power will listen to us. The first step to getting something changed and for the better is to raise awareness. That's what we're all doing here right now.

I agree with wizy. People just want to make money. This all comes down to greed. If someone only cares about personal gain then why would they care about the environment. I mean money talks right?

My best friend doesn't believe in Global Warming. But then again, she lives in a huge house, her dad's a lawyer for an oil company, and her parents drive two huge SUVs.

How wasteful! And I thought that one of my friends with his three floors, and his parents have a van and a Chevy Avalance (both massive vehicles), and the fact that they don't recycle at all, meant that they were wasteful....
