Devin: That's a bit harsh, isn't it? Change is hard. And in this case, expensive. I wouldn't mind moving to metric: the conversions are sooo much easier. I LOVE 10s and 100s and 1000s. However, with the languages, Aurie's right. Diversity is awesome. What would be the point if we all spoke the same language? Although language differences can be difficult, diversity is part of what makes us human.

What's so wrong with being fat anyways? I mean the only cultures were they think that's good is in the English (american,british, ect.) cultures. It's so unfair. If ppl like to eat what's the crime? You might not live as long as a soccer player but why do people have to be discriminated about it. There's this one kid in my school who's overweight and he has low selfesteem it seems like. (I don't know if it's about his weight ot whatever.) Anyways Lissa we all know you're very cool and even if you were overwieght I know some ppl who after you look at them and get to know them you seem to forget their looks. (It's happened to me.) Melissa, I have friends who are 'fat,' but they're also the nicest people you can imagine. Don't worry about people who judge you about how you look- they're not worth knowing anyway.

Has anyone here ever had this thing where they think someone's really cute or whatever, but once you get to know them, they don't look so good? I've had that a couple times... one is far better example than the other.

When I was about eighth grade, I thought this guy was really cute. Then I started talking to him, and he was just... Well, he turned ugly, fast. I mean, even know when I look at him, I can see why people think he's good-looking, but he is so so ugly. He was intolerable. I mean that more than one way. For one, I couldn't stand him. For another, he couldn't accept anyone different than himself. I don't even know if he could think for himself or not. But he is really really really ugly to me!

Same thing happened this year on a smaller scale. Thought this guy was cute, talked to him a bit... He's not so bad. He doesn't give you respect all the time, and stuff, but he's not so bad. he CAN be kind, but he's more often cruel. I don't like him, but I don't hate him either.
