  • Away messages

Okay, so since I'm practically confined to my house through no fault of my own, I've made these away messages to use and confuse my friends with...and to share with you guys, because who else will understand the Young Wizardly-ness of them?

Recipient is out of ambit-try again later. (Not sure of the exact text of that part of the book, and since I don't have a copy...

    Wizard at work

    On errantry

Gotta go tell the dog the meaning of life...

Dreaming about a cranky Celto-Goth hunk and senior Power-that-Is...

    The Toothpick of Virtue!

    Gonna go enoble some waffles

    Go ahead! Panic!

    DATAAAAAA.....

    No Surrender! Death before dishonor!

Doing magic to get more food

    and finally...

Putting aside fear for courage and death for life...and sleep for homework.

All sort of random, and not that good, but...I find them funny.

Sure, you guys can use them. That's what they're for, to be used. I use them often enough, and you guys appreciate them, I guess, so...yeah, use them!

That one's from a fight between the TV and the DVD player in AWAlone...I don't know, that one's sort of weird...but it's a funny quote!

I like. I certainly will use some of these in the future. Thanks for the idea!

eeeexcellent... Sounds like me at the moment... I could so do with some sleep - or coffee.. coffee is good.

So what are you going to use these on, hungry? IM stuff or just in general conversation?

Funfun Hungry! Just what I needed right now...>_<
I would use them on MSN, but my friends would have no clue what they mean (I feel so lonely), and they're already convinced I'm past obsessed with YW. XD
Maybe I'll stick them on my locker (if you don't mind, that is, Hungry).

try recruiting your friends to the books. At one stage I had four second hand copies of SYWTBAW, and I leant them out to my friends, and eventually gave them to them. All of them who actaually finished reading them enjoyed them enough to ask for the others.

The problem with recruiting for me is that I'm a boy and "Boys aren't supposed to read stupid fantasy book".

Honestly, anybody who thinks Young Wizards is stupid isn't sophisticated enough to fully understand the complexity of the books.(oooo, big words) Being a boy won't stop me from reading them.

Boys aren't supposed to read stupid fantasy book
Since when? Most of the people I know who read fantasy are boys. I was considered the strange one, cos girls were meant to be more interested in clothes and that . Also, dad's family was a family of book worms (5 guys there)... there's no rule that says guys aren't meant to read them.

((hmm... on rereading that, it sounds like I was jumping down your throat - I'm not, I'm jumping down the throat of whoever told you that ))

Hmmm...I agree with Alla. None of the girls I know read fantasy...they all read those books about preppy girls in high school who go out with boys and only care about make-up and stuff...so how can only girls read fantasy, if they're reading that stuff? That's not to say that all girls read those books (take a lot of us on the boards, for example.)

Actually, I've had the best discussions of fantasy with some guys I know. They really know how to get to the center of the book and just dissect it; it's really funny to listen to.

Jfish, I don't think it's so much "boys aren't supposed to read stupid fantasy books" as much as that it's ok for girls to read boys' books, while it's a bit tricker for a guy to be caught reading a "girls'" book.

Like books aren't for people, regardless of gender. Still, I can see how a guy would have trouble being seen reading Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries or the like.
New to the board? Please take the time to read the YW Board-Specific Rules, or Why We're Not Like Other Boards FAQ.

These are hilarious! Especially the "enoble some waffles" bit. Waffles are good.
And as for girls' book versus boys' book: I don't care what other people think. I'm a social outcast now, so if I were caught reading Princess Diaries, it wouldn't affect my life at all.
Ronan's my role model. He's cool, smart, and has a pen that can destroy whatever he wants it to. If only life were that easy.
