*scoots in a little late* I'm in, too! I'm trying to get back into foruming, and this may be a good start, right? Plus, I'm already half-way through my annual SYWTBAW re-read, so it's good timing in that sense. I'm totally onboard for chats and things, although I do have a request timing-wise; can the chats be either very early in the morning, or in the late afternoons and evening? Mid-morning to early afternoon is my midnight to six am, so I'd prefer to avoid that if at all possible, although the way I've been sleeping lately... Ta!
Go ahead! Panic! Do it now and avoid the June rush! Fear death by water!

I'm in, too. I actually just reread SYWTBAW about two months ago, so I can either reread it again or start in on DW.

      Awesome idea, Ella! *huggles*

Okay, since we've got a pretty good crowd jumping in, why don't we officially start the reading of SYWTBAW today and shoot for a chat next Monday, the 26th? I'm in EST, and I'm starting a summer school class next week, so early in the morning's not good, but late afternoon/early evening is to accomodate New Zealand time. I'm not sure what time zones you all are in, but a chat at say 5 p.m. my time would be 4 in Central, 3 in Mountain and 2 in Pacific time in the U.S. Anybody in Europe, let me know how that works for you. We'll try to accomodate everybody; the more who participate, the better!

        Input?

Next Monday the 26th sounds excellent, at 5PM.

          5PM EST : 2PM PST : 8AM Aussies : 10AM Kiwis : 10:00PM GMT.

Nitpick - 10:00PM BST, or British Summer Time. But that's the time we're using in Britain now. GMT doesn't change to allow for summer time. - Peter

*for the laughing* oh god the morning before my Philosophy exam (that afternoon...!). I will be there, but you guys are going to have to deal with me talking about the metaphysics of wizardry, like, a lot. Be prepared!

I started re-reading on the bus today; what-all is everyone picking up different this read-through? (I figure we can have some discussion here throughout the week as well, right?) I have to say this gave me a bit of a kick:
Dairine had her father's square-boned build and her mother's grace, and a perpetual, cocky grin.
(emphasis mine) Dairine being graceful is almost a new one on me, and I really like it, it makes me look at Dairine differently and remember that maybe more than Nita she's really at ease in her own body - she liked those jiu jitsu lessons, remember?

Anyway. Fred just showed up, so I feel like I'm really in the Good Place. Thank the Artificer.

Heh, I have a sneaking suspicion it's actually supposed to be about, you know, summer, and swimming, and stuff? But um, here we're expecting snow and it's freezing and I have two exams that I haven't started studying for yet and you know, Jaws is my least fear right now. *stresses out majorly*

Because I haven't been on the site for like three weeks (excluding the occasional ToGR), I haven't been able to actually look at this. So, I think I will jump on in. As a matter of coincidence, I was just re-reading W@W.
I had noticed that there were a lot of things I didn't previously read or understand, or whatever, so I think it would be good to think about my favorite books on a whole new level.
Now that it's summer, and I have practically nothing to do ( emphasis on practically. I have a pre eighth grade class and organ. Yes, organ!) so,I think I will do this, now that I have more time, for it is an excellent idea!

                      Ella, wherefore art our Ella?

The date for the Deep Wizardry discussion will most likely be July 3rd, just as a heads up.

                      //edit// July, actually. (thanks PM)

                          Hi everybody!

Bookworm: We would love to have you join in! You can participate for the entire re-read and come to the chats as much as you can, or you can drop in on a chat for a specific book if you want. Glad to have you!

Those of us who showed up for the SYWTBAW chat last Monday had an entertaining time...and we're looking forward to repeating the experience. The next chat will be July 3rd at 5 pm EST in the Spoiler Chatroom, and we will be discussing Deep Wizardry. Hope to see you there!

I'm in. Apparently there was no group discussion of DW today, but the HW one (next Monday), I'll definitely be there.

                              There wasn't?
I could have sworn we discussed DW. Tui kept a copy of the discussion, too.

It wasn't all that crowded - Tui, Ella, me, Tuttle and a fleeting visit from agfish92, but it happened.

                                There was definitely a discussion.

PM, what did you guys conclude about the last question I asked before I left? What I was wondering was if more whales would volunteer for the Silent Lord's part because of the successful nature of the Sea's choice as opposed to the "apples and snakes" failure (and subsequent human fear of death). Ed said something about young whales clamoring to play the Silent Lord in past Choices. What I wonder, then, was why S'reee was so concerned about finding someone to play the Silent One.

                                HW next week!!
