  • Hi everyone,

I know this is pretty out of the blue since I haven't been around much lately, but our cat, Reese (the orange tabby) is very ill. He won't pass urine and what does come out has been blood. We've researched the issue and it could be something simple like an infection that can be treated with medicine and be done with it forever, or it could be something more serious, such as "crystals" clogging him up, which would mean they'd have to drain his bladder, we'd have to give him medicine, and he'd have to eat special (and expensive) food. He was at the vet for the afternoon today to get a urine sample but nothing's come out all afternoon. They're going to keep him there overnight. I forget why this would need to happen, but if he needs to stay there for a few more nights to solve the issue, it'll cost too much for us to afford and he'd need to be put down. So please pray for Reese. Thank you!

EDIT: Good news! My mom just called me and Reese only has an infection; it wasn't the expensive blockage that we were worried about. He's on antibiotics that we can afford and he'll have to stay in the house for 4 days, which he won't mind since he hates the snow and cold

    • Yay! I hope Reese stays healthy after this, because a sick kitty makes me incredibly sad to think about. Cats are beautiful and funny creatures, and they always make me feel lighthearted when I'm around one. I'm glad Reese will be ok Eric

      • Hooray Reese!
Who is the other handsome feline in the photo?

Eric, my cat Cheshire went through the same thing your Reese did, except that he had crystals. The operation to fix it was $3000. When my sister called to tell me (I was living in a no-pets building) we realized we didn't have any way to afford that, even if we went halfsies. It was a sad few weeks.
Then my mum swooped out of nowhere like the angel she is and got him all fixed up like new. hooooray!!
That was two years ago and Cheshire is still doing well. The vet-special-kidney-food is kind of expensive, but it's well worth it every time he makes a mess of my homework because he wants attention.

I would EAT THE HELL outta that steak, then try to guilt the cow into dying just for being a cow. I'd be all "NOM NOM HEY COW YOU'RE NOT MEAT YET WHAT GIVES JERK" and then I'd glare and give it the silent treatment. Same goes for pigs and chickens... I would guilt a FLOCK of chickens into poultrycide in a heartbeat. "HEY YOU'RE A CHICKEN HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT"- Madhatte

          • More requests for prayers.

My grandfather is in the hospital, had a heart attack last night. He's physically responding well, but they're not sure if it hurt his brain (on top of him already having something with symptoms similar to both parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's). They're doing a brain scan either today or tomorrow. My mom may be flying out today.

A year ago I had 3 grandparents healthy enough to live in their own homes. Now I have one who may have to go into hospice care. He already had to go into a nursing home like place this year... (he's needing a step between nursing home and assisted living).

Can my family stop having this happen to us?
We will remember you PM. And your little GingerBear.

I'll pray for you grandfather Tuttle. I hope that he's ok and I hope that his brain hasn't been affected by the heart attack. My best friend's grandma had a heart attack 3 days ago, and at the hospital that her grandma was placed in, well a fire happened on the same floor, but now her grandma's back home. I hope your doesn't have any damage that's too permanent. Blessed be to you and your loved ones

Hey everyone! I'm not going to be on here for a while cause I'm doing something really difficult and giving up my compy for Lent!! So as much as I hate to, I won't be on here until Easter! But I will be back--no worries there.

Tuttle I hope your grandfather is doing well. I will keep him on my mind and in my prayers. I hope nothing has happened to his brain. It's always a little scary when someone gets a heart attack at that age. :-\ I want to buy him a little teddy bear!! That always cheers people up and make them feel better.

wizardsrreal: I can't believe you're giving up the computer for Lent! My friend gives up chocolate every year! She's a chocoholic! Good luck.

Alrighty... I hope everyone's doing well.

                      • Tuttle: My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time, I really hope your grandfather recovers... I know what it's like... I lost 3 of my grandparents in the space of a year and 2 weeks, and then lost my last grandmother just two November's ago... It's hard, and I can't offer an explaination for the reason why people have certain trials. The only thing I can say is there is always something to learn from each of them, and that God (or whatever Power that you believe in) knows you and will be there for you.

Did anyone here watch the Oscars? I loved the 30's theme, and the musical performances were fantastic. I love Hugh Jackman. I have a bit of a celebrity crush on him ... lol.

Yeah I watched the Oscars!! I loved the whole thing and I think that Hugh Jackman did an amaziing job as the host. I think that after a few bad award (not necessarily the Oscars) shows the Oscars finally brought the spirit back up again. I loved it when they did the musical numbers!! Haha. That was awesome.

Did anyone see the Spirit Awards the night before? I wonder how many of those actors could still look glamorous after that night... haha. I was pretty sure some of them were smashed. XD That's what you get at the Spirit Awards though.

                            • He's in hospice care. Unlikely to last a week. My mom is flying out to Chicago tomorrow. Depending on how he's doing she may come back here Monday. Finals are next week. I don't know how this is going to work out.

                              • Jacq, the other cat is Timmy, the grey tiger. He survived being attacked by a fisher. The fisher chased him on to the roof, and by the time my dad got outside the fisher had him by the throat. The eye half-open is his damaged eye. He can't control it or his right ear. He's unsymmetrical. He always was skittish before the accident, but he is absolutely paranoid about everything nowadays, although he doesn't look like it in the picture.

Tuttle, I'm really sorry to hear about your grandfather. My prayers will be with him and his family. I kind of know how that's like; I have a massive extended family and multiple members have passed just this past year to freak accidents....
