  • Sorry Eric but I wash dishes by hand everyday. So no simpathy.

A Travellar With Magic you call a tornado watch exciting? Then your life must really be boring then. (I'm kidding ) So you made this picture, huh? Do you make a lot of pictures like that? Because it's really good.

    • Well yes, Spyells, but are there normally eight plates exactly, and even more of everything else, plus miscellaneous cooking implements stacked up in your sink and backing up all the way down the counter? I don't think so.... Yesterday, we were EXPECTING to be able to wash it all. We were relying on it. *Glares at the wall in which the evil dishwasher is on the other side of*

Well last night I did figure out the problem myself... I ran my finger along the rubber seal between where the water drains out of the dishwasher and the main tub. And towards the back, the seal wasn't seated properly; it was way up higher than the front, which was way down. We're hoping that all the repairman (who's coming some time today, as my dad called up the dealer after we saw water squirting everywhere) will have to do is to push down the seal, making it seated correctly, and that'll be all they have to do.

      • Spy: Sitting in a dark basement with only a Walkman, a couple flashlights and sunflower seeds? How wouldn't that be exciting? XD
And yes; I'm working on another POVRay picture at the moment. You can find a few more if you browse around my DeviantART but none as detailed as this one (though my current project promises to be). I'm thinking of completing my computer science IB dossier in grade 12 with POV, as technically it should qualify as a programming language (albeit specialised) from what I've read. I still have to wait and read the guidelines first, however.

          • Kessa, I think that's the longest post I've seen, even in the Topic of Great Randomness. I've seen very long posts in the world changing thread, but... wow.

Well an update on our eeeeeevvill dishwasher...

The repairman came yesterday (He was forty-five minutes late, he held up my dad from leaving the house) and looked at it. I was right about the seal; at first he said that the motor had gotten banged at one point and the seal was just a bit out of place. So he tipped it over and looked around. Then he realized that one of the brackets that holds the motor in place was cracked, from the pressure of whatever banging the motor took. Luckily, though, the repairman was honest enough to tell us this, and he didn't just shove the motor back in place and call it OK. He also pointed out that the stainless steel plate in the front looked dented, and advised that we get a replacement unit. So my dad called the dealer, and the replacement is coming Thursday (tomorrow, at the time I'm writing this) or Friday. So I'll be quiet about the dishwasher until the replacement comes.

This is the second issue we've had. Our washer came with a defective temperature control knob, so we had to wait a week and a half to get that fixed, with hot water available only. The washer and dryer are Whirlpools, as well as the dishwasher. And the dishwasher has this issue... I'm hoping it's an issue with Whirlpool, as I don't like Whirlpool, but my dad insists on getting them, so whatever. The refrigerator we bought from a different dealer, and it's a different brand, Amana. That had no immediate problems. So we've gotten new refrigerator, new washer/dryer, new dishwasher, a new microwave a few years ago, so that darn stove is next. Hopefully we can get a Maytag stove. Because it seems as though Whirlpools have more initial issues than other brands.

            • Eric I've had more than 8 dishes and however many spoons and forks you said you wash. Try having to hand wash everything on Christmas eve when your parents make a whole mess of dishes for one thing.

A Traveller with Magic I don't have a basement. But I guess I could imagine that being fun if I tried.

Kessa, Eric is right that is the longest post I've ever seen no matter how many forums I'm registered on.

                I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.

                • I haven't heard about any tornadoes on Long Island... You, your family, your house, and your possessions are OK, I hope? I have a godsister living there, I wonder if she's OK....

I went car shopping with my best friend and his mom today. Our three favorite models are a BMW 325 I (I'm not entirely sure of that model number), a BMW (G?) 3, (an SUV), and a Mercedes ML 320, with the ML 320 being the most favorite. My friend's mom has been finding great deals around on '00 to '03 models. She is trading in a Limited Edition Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Which of these models do you think are the best, everybody?

                  • we'e...we're in queens. it was thirty miles away from us, luckily (which STILL freaks me out, a little, now that i'm thinking about it, since i've never been even THAT close to a tornado before...) and it was just a tiny one, so i hope it didn't do much damage....but what it DID do, even here, is cause masive flooding which seeped underground, and is causing all kinds of problems. when i went to the store, the day it happened, it was almost completely shut down, with almost all lights off, and no freezer sections, or deli...And it also resulted in us having no cable, internet, or phone, and with the cable compony refusing to admit at first we were part of a poweroutage...it could be a LOT worse, but, due to my sheltered life in these matters, it's aobut the worse i've ever had...i'm fairly sheltered, despite the group homes, the insane mom, and the court dates. never even had an injury worse then a sprained wrist, that may not even have been sprained...so just about anything can seem utterly horrid tome. And i hope your godsister is alright, eric.

                    • Kessa - Guys can be such a pain. I totally sympathize. I think you're pretty niftylicious.

Gryph - You're incredibly amazing. I'm worried about the two AP classes I'm taking next year. Okay, I lie: I'm worried about AP Chem. English is rarely a problem. I still haven't done my summer homework...whoopsie.

So, in other news, color guard is so incredibly fun. I'm trying to find the last time I posted so I know what I've already said. I repeat myself enough as is.

Oh, before I go further into color guard, I suppose I should say that my boyfriend and I broke up. That is, if you can break up without using words. He put his status as "single" on facebook and hasn't said anything to me in...three weeks now? I dunno. I'm using the fact that he said he needed alone time to not talk to him. So, if he wants to talk, he can do the talking. A slight FYI: his relationship status on facebook is now "it's complicated."

Beyond dodging the ex, color guard is amazing. We have a great group of girls (and one guy...) who are so much fun to be around. Even though Mr. W makes fun of us every once in a while, we're actually coming along nicely, especially for week number two of EVER doing anything with a flag.

Oh! This guy who graduated last year brought me books! Three Terry Pratchett books... I'm in love. He came to school one day after color guard practice to let me borrow them. He likes British spellings, too. He's a step above the rest of humanity, and pretty much perfect. And he dissagrees when I tell him that! So, he IS perfect!

I still haven't seen the Harry Potter movie. I just haven't gotten around to it. At this rate, I'll end up waiting until it comes out on video. As for the book, I'm waiting until my friend buys it and reads it, so I can borrow it from her.

I have birthday parties tonight and tomorrow night. Which reminds me: I need to wrap the presents. At least I remembered presents, XD.

Life is pretty good. I've been walking every day for the past week with my friend who lives like, half a mile down the road, so I've actually been getting some exercise. While my ex-boyfriend managed to wound my pride a great deal (By the way, Kessa, his name is also Thomas. Funniness. ), I'm fine about the whole thing. That's what I get for dating a tuba player. Now, if only I would stop putting off my summer homework...

                        • young reader: I haven't heard anything about my godsister, which is normal... I haven't seen or talked to her in like a year so I assume every thing's OK or the rest of my god family would have let us know.

spyells: Er... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Although you kinda went crazy with all the smilies. What is that, like all of the smilies you could have put down?

Yet another update on the infernal (look up the word "infernal" on dictionary.com, it gives a good description) dishwasher... *Sigh* The replacement is defective. It had a crack in the frame, near where the springs for the door pull on, so in time the spring tension would have cracked the leg right off... and THAT would have been a disaster. So a replacement for a replacement is coming on Monday.... And if this replacement for a replacement needs a replacement, there will not be a replacement, because one way or another, the replacement will be a Maytag model, rather than a Fool(Whirl)pool. Hmm... I'm confusing myself with all those "replacement"s in there.

                          • i am about to go on a giant philosophical rant, simply because i feel like it...so if you don't want to here one, DON"T READ THIS! ok, ranting begins...now.

i wonder if anyone every really knows anyone else...i mean, there are so many different kinds of people in the world. some are easy to read. they act the same way in every situation, and you can count on them to act that way on the future. you can them in piles, you can stack them up,a and say that you know them, and all these p;eole are alike. But what of the others? tjhere are those who are so HARD to read. some who just defy everything...who act different in every situation, who's very personality seems to differ from moment to moment...how do you stack them? for they differ even from eachother. and even those who ARE easy to read...who you think you know...how do you know that you know them? how do you know, there isn't something hidden, even from themselves. that they aren't more then you always thought they were. take me for an instant...i always thought i was easy to read. my emotions are very easy to see. but me myself...i'm hard to read, apparently. my best friends STILL don't quite have a grip on me, and they probably never will. You might think you know me here...i'm the hyper kid, the one who posts on all subject, and always seems to act the same...but then look at me posting on philosphy, or on the nature of the world, and see how i behave completely differently. put me in a room talking to one person, and i'll be hyper. with another i'll simply be comforting...and confront me with someone who has a problem, and i'll be something completely different. quiet, helping...finding out whats wrong and giving the best advice i can give, often helping others and enjoying every moment. No matter how much someone thinkst hey know me, no matter how certain they are that they have me figured out...they never quite know for sure. and no matter how much they are around me, they never will. and maybe that's true for everyone....maybe some are more pronounced, always changing, so that you're never quite sure how they will respond, and others are always acting the same, but everyone, deep down, has SOMETHING that nobody knows was there, the ability to be different then they currently are...even if neither you nor they know it. So, when you're talking to your friends, you might just want to wonder...how much do you know them? how much do you know yourself?

ok, philopshy over./ :P that was fun. (told ya i act differently for different things...don't worry, i'm not bipolar (emotions don't change) and i don't have different emotions...i'm just heavily effected by those people and things around me, and what i'm doing, so i change for every situation, and every person. :P why do you think i manage to annoy SO many people, then turn around and befriend every other person? asnywyas, i'm off to post. *flys away, then returns* oh, and the damage from the tornado has been reversed...*cheers*. *is so filled with energy at moment i feel like i'm going to explode, so i appologize for the ranting i did right after posting this....* i wonder if we should just make a philosphy topic or something...ah well.
                            I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.

I can do that right now. In fact, that is a great good idea. I have a couple very long philosophical speeches myself.

Now for some more randomness. I haven't made any for a while, so....

Our cat, Reese, the orange tabby that I always talk about, was injured yesterday.

Today's Monday. I slept over at a friend's house on Saturday night. When my mom picked me up at my friend's house she said that on Sunday morning the cat came inside limping. The leg didn't seem swollen, showing signs of a broken bone. It didn't seem life-threatening so we had to wait until today to take him to the vet.

Today another friend was here at my house. My mom, my friend, and I took Reese to the vet. My friend's mom picked us up at the vet, so my mom stayed Reese while they examined him. I really wanted to go with Reese when he was examined, but with timing issues I couldn't.

By the way, to sidetrack a little, when we got in there there were these little... I don't know what kind of dog, but there were two of them owned buy one couple, and these dogs started barking and throwing a fit as soon as we walked in with Reese in the Pet Taxi thing. Reese, being in pain, confined in the cage, and having these two dogs barking at him nonstop for five minutes... must have been extremely aggravated, and he started meowing like I've never heard him meow himself. But eventually they stopped, and so did Reese. Then a few minutes later, after we had checked in and started waiting, another lady with a cat in a cage walked in, and the dogs start barking like maniacs again, and they disturb Reese and that other cat again... the poor cats! It's unfair to the cats that they can't make as much noise right back at them.

So anyway, after my friend's mom picked up my friend and I, we went to my friend's grandparents. My friend's mom made home made chicken pot pie, which is EXTREMELY good. My mom called my friend's mom's cell phone, and she told me about what happened with Reese.

They had to shave the fur off the bottom of his leg. There was a thorn stuck not in his paw, but in his actual leg! So they removed it. They also gave him his routine shots while he was there. They have him on antibiotics; it's that pink bubble-gum tasting liquid, very similar to the stuff I used to use when I had ear infections. (LOVED that medicine- I used to like getting ear infections! The vet also recommended a new type of medicine called Revolution. It's an all-in-one medicine that you apply in drops between the cats' shoulder blades. It treats fleas, ticks, ear mites, and worms. And for two months' worth of dosage, for Reese and Timmy, is fifty dollars. Two cats, two months, one medicine that does all that... that's a pretty good price when you think about it! So my mom got that, but we haven't applied it to Reese yet; one medicine at a time for him. We'll wait to apply it to Timmy, too, so they can both be on the same schedule with the stuff.

And that's what's been up for the past few days for me. Oh, and the third dishwasher will be coming tomorrow. We are trying to convince them to install it for free, as my dad will be traveling on business again, and plus we have been without a working dishwasher for a week and a half. My dad said that if they won't do it that he'd tell me how to do it over the phone; besides, I've seen two be... almost completely installed already, so I'm confident that I could do it with my dad telling me how to over the phone.

I mowed the lawn last exactly one week ago. And it hasn't gotten very long. Maybe because we haven't had much rain. All that I know is that I can't wait for it to get long again. I LOVE mowing the lawn, as I think I've already stated somewhere on the forums.

That's all the randomness that I have for now.

                              • I just got back from Southern New England. :-) We drove down to Rhode Island on Friday, and hung out with my parents for a while. Saturday was spent in Connecticut at my wife's family picnic: Sunday was spent back in RI at my brother's house for another family picnic. We drove back today, after stopping to visit with my 90-year-old Gram for a while.

The hotel situation, I'll save for Chat. :-)
