Hm...there's many book series I can add to my list before, but recalling them may be a bit hard. My memory is terrible. Heh.

The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan is definitely one of my faves. I liked the beginning books of the Acorna series, but the last books bugged me.

I can't think of any others at the moment, sadly.

Griffin and Sabine, Sabine's Notebook, and The Golden Notebook by Nick Bantock. There are more books in the series, but those are far and away the best; I don't much care for the rest, though all of the art is beautiful. The Venetian's Wife is another fantastic book by the same author.

Those are not children's books, though.

I agree with many of the series mentioned.

        * His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman
        * [I]Song of the Lioness, Immortals, Protector of the Small[i] quartets, and Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen, the Tortall books by Tamora Pierce
        * Wise Child, Juniper, and Colman by Monica Furlong
        * Hero and the Crown, The Blue Sword and other books by Robin McKinley
        * The Enchanted Forest books by Patricia C. Wrede

          -Harry Potter
          -Lord of the Rings
-The Immortals series and anything by Tamora Pierce
          -Crown Duel

Ewizard11: Has anyone read Tithe? It's next on my reading list. And, just out of curiosity, what about Faerie Wars? I really liked that book.
I read both of those. Tithe, I read a real while ago. It was very intersting... not my favorite book, but I do remember it being good. I also did like Faeire Wars. I think they came out with a sequal, but I haven't been able to read it yet...

The Wind on Fire Trilogy was so awesome! The first one was my favorite--I love stuff with messed-up civilizations that seem perfect..
I didn't like the last book. >.< It was a good series in all, but the ending didn't appeal to me. I didn't like the whole sacrafice thing.

The Enchanted Forest books by Patricia C. Wrede
I used to be obsessed with that series. At least I loved it alot, maybe the word obsessission is much too strong.. I haven't read it in so long...

Kai - I loved them, too. I've always just thought they are so hilarious and clever, I like the characters, I like the stories, etc., etc.

Hmm, I thought of a few more.

Mairelon the Magician and The Magician's Ward, also by Patricia C. Wrede

The Chrestomanci books by Dianna Wynne Jones

I should admit to liking the Harper Hall Trilogy by Anne McCaffrey, even though in general I don't like her work or her writing style (so I can't read it that often, or it startes to irritate me). I used to like Arrows of the Queen or whatever it is by Mercedes Lackey, but her writing style really irritates me, I just can't stand it anymore, so even though I like the universe she created, I can't stand to read her books.

I like various books and stories about Lythande by Marion Zimmer Bradley (as well as other things by her) and I love the Amber series by Roger Zelazney, except for the last book. There are some things that happen in the last book that sour it for me (that are quite petty and silly, I admit) so that I can read the other, what, 9 books but I don't enjoy the last one.

In an entirely, completely, and totally different vein, I love the Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson. Once again, not young adult books, but really fantastic. Not just good SF but extremely good books as well (though I've talked to some close-minded people who thinkg a SF book can't be a good book).

I also like the now-very-dated Fuzzy series (Little Fuzzy, Fuzzy Sapiens, and Little Fuzzy and Other People) by H. Beam Piper. They're sweet science-fantasy about an adorable race of
aliens (that I think the Ewoks could have been based on).

I'm sure there's more than I haven't thought of. I read a lot when I was younger, I read a lot now. It cuts into time I should be spending doing other things, sometimes

Favorite books! My FAVORITE topic! Okay, I'm just going to start listing, because otherwise I will go off into a rant about a book, and will NEVER finish this post.

Any series by Tamora Pierce (I like all her books, in any series or in any universe.)
Faerie Wars by Herbie Brennan (did someone else say they like these books up above? I'm too lazy to go look, and I've never known anyone who's even heard of them)
Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz
That series that starts with the book City of the Beast by Isabel Allendale (it was translated from Spanish, and there are 2 more books in the series...anyone heard of it?)
              LOTR by J.R.R. Tolkien
His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman
Harry Potter (of course. I know, I'm a follower. But technically I did read the books before they became so popular.)
Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code (they are the start of a series, I think he said he's writing more books for it.)
And...I really can't remember what else I have on my bookshelf, as I'm not at home and can't go look. Maybe I'll come back to this post later today and edit it with more series...

I came back and edited...sort of.

                      Issac Asimov - Foundation Series
Grahm Greene - Bassically anything ( not kiddy stuff)
And Recently I've been reading books by Holly Black (Tithe, & Valiant) which are dark but really good... If your parents don't like you reading anything slightly innaproriate do not read these books.

Ummm. My preference of books breaks up into three catagories. Fantasy. And Not Realistic Realistic Fiction. and Misc. And I'm WORKING on getting all my choice books done... i've been so busy w/books 4 school that I have a longer to do list than what I've read. So I'll include my 'to read' list 1st.

                                Lets Start W. Fantasy.
                                HP.
His Dark Materials (I've read the 1st book)
The Immortals. (I've read the 1st and 2nd books. SOGOOD)
Chronicals of Narnia (On the to read list.)
The Other Ones. (It WILL be a series i swear!)
Song of the Lioness( To Read List.)
Angles and Deamons and The Da Vinci Code.(I'm dying to read these two.)
All the books by Annette Curtis Klause (Especially Blood and Chocolate.)
Gathering Blue and The Giver. (Haven't gotten to read the Giver yet. Though Supposedly, if you read them both, they connect, and supposedly there was supposed to be a 3rd book that connected the two. Which would be awesome!)
I can't think of any more... I know I've read so many more... Oh well.
                                Misc.
The Homecoming series. I love it. Read it. (On the 2nd book)
Agatha Christy books... (I've read several. Though there not a series... there like... a bunch of books)
                                Unrealistic Realistic Fiction.
I know... Its pathetic I read these books... Oh well. I read them all before they got popular. I swear. Reading these and liking them is kind of like my shame... Oh well, my friend got me into them... what can i say.
                                Gossip Girl.
                                The Clique.
The A List (To Read List)

Thats about my series list... I read SOOOO many more books that aren't part of a series that it makes this list look tiny...
