Ppc: it's actually a poemized rant on a theory I have about writing/music/etc.... it's kinda vague and hard to explain, but basically the dynamic between performer/creator/what-have-you and audience.
'N I don't mind about using my poetry on pictures... that's generally what I compose most of my poetry for, actually, so that's okay. And anyway, I like that piccy, esp. the hair. She has very lovely floaty floofety hair... I wish my hair was that pretty T.T...
I am Lionfish. HEAR ME ROA-- ....um, bubble. Blub, blub. *sweatdrop*
If you can't spell my name, go ahead and call me semi or S-chan. I don't mind, really.

semiramis: Ahh. It brought violins and cellos to mind for some odd reason.
Incidentally, would it be alright if my sister used part of your poem on her sig? It's just at her message board, and she'll credit you an' all. She found that sketch I did and liked the poem a lot. I told her I didn't think you'd mind but I'd better ask anyway...so...is it ok?

Okay this is some of my poetry don't laugh. Many have gone and many have stayed but
one thing stays the same: Love and Hate they never go away but they can be beaten
Many have come to this place and most
have left it but let not their life be a mystery
Many have come and gone so we need to
leave a ripple before this planet is washed away
Many have come and gone but few are
here to stay and help the world
Many have qualities that we admire but few
are our heroes however, some deserve
respect
Many will be washed away and never seen again
but some remain that remind us of the
of these times
Many will fall but most will live to give
others hope and freedom
Many people stay for others sake but
not for their own but sometimes caring for others will make the ones that think this change their minds
Many say that diversity is a bad thing
however I say that without diversity where would we be now
All can be forgotten but a life without
history is a life not lived
its made out of my qutoes*Many have gone and many have stayed but one thing stays the same: Love and Hate they never go away but they can be beaten- Devin

Amber! It's so cool!
And semiramis, too! I don't remember if I commented at the time (though it does sound familiar...) but "teach me to fall with grace" is a really lovely phrase.
A nice double job.
Speaking of poetry, I wanted to ask for some help. I'm thinking of entring an NZ poetry comnpetition this year- due in by the end of April, so I'm possibly a little late, but anyway. I really don't know what to write about, and I've been letting it slip... I haven't got anything I really feel like writing about. Could any of you guys put up a couple of ideas- I don't care what, it can be pineapple or quantum physics or whatever you like- that I can use just as practices? I WILL NOT use them as my final competition poem, because I know some people think this is plagiarism (I don't, personally, but some people do...)... I just want some practice.
If you do, I promise you can keep the poem: I'll dedicate it to you, okay?
And in the highly unlikely event it ever gets published, you get credit. Ditto if I put it on FA, etc.
An example of what you might get (took five minutes, don;'t expect quality):
life
is very much like
quantum physics
-and
so
..........are
....................you...
i never quite know
where you are
when
and how
apparently this means i can never
understand
analyse, etc
what do the physicists know?
not a jot
still and all
wherefore are you
anyway?
*snort* Okay, that's junk, but still. I promise better stuff, if you help me out.

an Ode to The Quantum Weather Butterfly
with many thanks to Bob the Angry Flower and Dave
if a butterfly flaps its wings in China
I go in one direction
you another
if it had picked another moment
would I be here
with you still?
if a butterfly
flutters by
in Bangladesh
somewhere on the other side of the world
a fairy dies
...
clap your hands if you believe in quantum &
the inevitability of a butterfly
somewhere
is flapping its wings...Go ahead! Panic! Do it now and avoid the June rush! Fear death by water!

this one's for foxtail
when i see you
and I don't know what to say
it
quavers in me
lime flavoured
when we've fought
and you walk away
and i'm left helpless
lemons.
lemonade is when
you turn around as you're leaving
and i can see you're smiling...
but when i see you
in a crisp clear morning
and i can't help smiling
that's pineapple.
*s******s* oh well, you did ask for it.
Actually.
Now I want some help. I wrote, this morning, a poem, and I need you all to be honest. I want/need some comments... first of all, I really liked the idea. But I don't know if it's a good one- is it trash? half of me thinks it is, a product of a couple of poems I read lately that made me laugh. But the other half isn't so negative... please help.
dance/love/dance
for MDP
This is the secret of loving
this careful elegant
confident
dance I see beginning
although they are on far sides of the room
everyone
knows what's happening
perhaps she will lead
a delicate courtesy
& he will bow/take her hand...
it is her firstdance
step on the strange floor
and she will pirouette and
arabesque
for him alone
for her he will do five thousand high kicks
and jete across the floor
forevermore
They're moving faster now
to the beat of breathing
a stomp-stamp
CLAP
to latin rhythms
they feel so good
in a full accelerando/
crescendo of li(o)ve
this is the dance-at-the-wedding
but also at the divorce
this is the messy breakup
the messier making up
we've seen it all before
we know the beats
the moves
so do they
it is implicit in our make up
it is the dance we all watch most avidly
but will not join in
we mark time
and wait
so yeah. You see my problem??? Comments, criticsms, etc, worshipped. Please, if you have any time at all, say something, if not bad about it, at least critical.Go ahead! Panic! Do it now and avoid the June rush! Fear death by water!

This one is called Atomic Games.
Yes/No
True/False
1/0
Win/Loss
How small can a game get?
And the winner is always predetermined.
Hammer smashes nail
Hammer: 1
Nail: 0
Hammer Wins!
Congratulations.
Oh!
And people know about games.
Matter of fact, (now that I think about it) we base our decisions on them.
And when you lose a game, you learn
When you win a game, you learn to do that sort of thing more often.
It's survival of the fittest.
There.
Hammers and nails evolve.
Now you can talk about being created by a man in the sky.

Z, that's so nice. I'm really not that good, you know. I liked it a lot. I think you have a lot of talent and potential and...I should stop sounding like a motivator, but it was really good!
I like it, Rysade. Very interesting--it makes me think about abstract notions.
If I told you I would die today
Would you still want to have dinner
And if I told you I would die this week
Would you still ask to marry me
If I told you I would die this year
Would you still want to marry me
Because if you answer no to these
I see that the pain of losing me
Is greater than your love of me
And that's not the man I want you to be
I want you to need me
Even if for just a day
I want that day to be
The best of your life
I want me to be worth dying for
And the joy of having me
Should far surpass the pain of losing me
Because we are a loop
A continuous circle
And death will come to us anyway
So if I tell you I'm sick or hurt or dying
Hold me tight
Marry me
Know that I'm more than worth
The pain of losing me
And love me morebrokencello

Well, thinking about abstract notions is pretty much what I DO in my free time. Or in my not so free time. Or all the time.Originally posted by brokencello:

OOOhh. And the Circle image in that one was great, BC. Now there's some abstract notions, for ya. Good ones too.
Two people can play off each other's strengths
Becoming together
a co-evolutionary game
when opposites attract.
We don't so much 'bend over backwards' for each other
But 'scratch each other's backs' instead.
Like a Yin/Yang in orbit around itself,
Our mutual attraction only helps us accelerate.
