What's your favorite book that you have read in the last month?
Assuming the whole book didn't need to be in the last month, either Time Enough for Love or The Science of Discworld. If all in the last month the latter, since I started the former back in school but was never able to make progress in it.
If you could, where in the universe would you go?
Anywhere and everywhere as long as I could return home and bring friends (and boyfriend
) with me. Really though, I have no idea, I'd probably be boring and jump to the moon since it'd be safe enough and seems all pretty and such.
If you could make one wish, and get it to come true, what would it be?
This is a hard question because it feels like any wish would backfire. It'd be tempting to say something like for me and those I care about to live a long and happy life, but even that doesn't feel quite right. What about human society to start caring about others (all others)? Probably something like one of those two, the first is really tempting but the latter seems more effective and most definitely more important.
If you were given 3 million dollars, what would you do?
Wonder why I had 3 million dollars and make sure it wasn't hurting anyone else for me to have gotten this, and if so then pay for college, grad school, etc. Give my boyfriend's family enough to cover the months of rent that they're needing to wait to pay the landlord on (but I know they'd not want more than that if they took that much so would be reasonable). Donate some to whatever groups felt reasonable, and then just keep it in the bank using what was necessary but acting no differently, because money is a silly thing. But get a new laptop too 'cause I want a new body for Patina.
If it hurt others, try to give it back to those who it was no matter how hard that'd be with the whole being a college student thing.
If you could spend a month in vacation anywhere you wanted, where would it be?
A small island in the Caribbean with kayaks, snorkelling equipment, good food, friends, and the internet. Or somewhere middle of nowhere-ish, friends, the ability to travel only using non-motors, preferably kayaks, and the ability to avoid civilization for the time. But preferably internet there
. Something middle of nowhere-ish either way.
What is your favourite animal?
Turtle! (who'da thought?)
What's your favorite anthology (collection of stories or poems)?
...I really don't know. None is jumping to mind.
Do you believe in magic, and do you wish you had it?
Part of the question is if something that is not understood is magic. It's like Clarke's third law "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." but this is true beyond technology, anything not understood enough.
Is there magic like in the fantasy novels in the ability to create something from nothing, change a book to a desk with the flick of a wand or speak to animals in english and have them reply? no. Is there something which could be considered magic out there, I say yes. But its not "I'm making this happen" its "I understand this and others don't seem to and can manipulate it some" yes.
While fantasy magic would be cool, I don't wish I had it since it seems silly to wish for. As for the more realistic type...who says I don't have what some people may call magic? Who says anyone here doesn't, or some people have it at least.
.
What is the meaning of your life?
42. And learning as much as I can and helping who I can especially if I care a lot about them.
What is one thing that needs to change?
Feels a bit mean to say "human nature"...and that isn't specific enough. The belief by people they are superior in general.
Imagine an object that would fit in your palm, and describe it briefly.
Now this question I like.
I'm getting two different things...so I'll mention both.
More strongly I'm getting a small, not pointy but not round, just the shape that it is not dangerous and sharp but not sphere either. Closest to like... the shape of a keychain fancy thing but not that either. Metallic, Iron I think. Cold to the touch. Shiny as it was buffed.
The other is not as strongly pictured but more more detailed. Small, almost circlular which fits inside of your palm, and looks at quick glance like a fancy rock. When you look closer you notice patterns on the upper part. Then look closer and a head pops out of the front, and the fact that its a baby turtle is noticed.
What is your fondest memory froom the forums or chat?
People's reactions to my post about robotics in TOGR which was over 6000 words. Rather than being annoyed at the randomness which they didn't care about and the length of seeming nothing to people, it was understood to matter to me, commented that maybe there's a new definition of long for a TOGR post, and asked questions rather than avoiding the topic of robots around me. I felt accepted and amused at the same time.
What is one of the most funniest things you have ever heard?
Umm...first off "most funniest?" I think you just mean "funniest".
But anyways...recently I'd have to say myself when being tickled when I'm most responding seeing as apparently I sound like a dog somewhat and say the word "tickle" a lot.
If you were asked to describe:
a) you
b) your best friend
c) the relationship the two of you have
each in ten words what would those ten words be?
a) very into interests, open only with trust, geek/nerd, optimistic.
b) understanding, my other half, knows what she likes, great friend.
c) special, unique, fast forming, strong connection, trust, know others thoughts.
