No... scaring away n00bs is probly a BAD thing... lol. I think we're gonna have to stop joking about newbie roasts....

Hi, Cyceri here (Sis'-sir-ee) and I am NEW. Yup, I have no idea what I'm doing as I speak. So I'll start with what I do know.

I am a writer (unpublished, though...), and if you're wondering why my username is what it is, it's because it's a major place in the story I'm writing. No further info....

I found this site a few days ago by surfing on Google when I was bored, having finished the third book in the YW series and the fourth was not under my bed but at the Library. And, being fifteen and unable to drive, I resorted to the Net. (Btw, how do you people abbreviate A Wizard Abroad and A Wizard Alone?) So I'm trying to stay away from the talks about the books I haven't read.

Well, it seems like you people probably just scan these messages, taking into consideration how long they are, so I'll just stop here.

Good question... A Wizard Alone and A Wizard Abroad would both be AWA. Maybe AWAL and AWAB.

In my experience, they'd most likely be spelled 'AWAb' and 'AWAl'. The major letters, with a minor letter added if the abbreviations come into question.
And Agent M, allow me to just correct your terminology.

The term 'n00b' applies to the scum of the Net. Belligerent, obnoxious, trolling, spamming, refusing to use logic or human decency, speaking only in 1337. Not pleasant folk. The word you're looking for is 'newb', one who is new, but willing to learn. Just had to point that out.

Hmmm, never heard of that before. I just figured that n00b was a term people had adopted here to replace 'newbie' which isn't all that different.

Cyceri, books rule!!! I've been planning for one ever since I first wanted to write. If I write any books, it definitly won't be my first because I'd rather get a bit of practice. A lot of suggestions are going around. There's this one topic about what to do to get people to publish your books and all kinds of stuff. DD (Diane Duane) suggests that you shouldn't be only an author because you can't expect to get money from your books right away if at all. Eve in JK Rolwing's case, it wasn't for a few years that she got anything off her books.
