The Nature of Ponch

It's really rude because it's not really my place, and I have typos too, but... *sigh* Anyway, sorry. I do know how you feel, because one of my best friends is terribly bright but cannot spell at all. Not even a little bit. So.. it's not just you! Anyway, your spelling was fine, it was just the one little apostrophe...

You know what's annoying, though? Kita. And Nit. And Konch. I do that so often it's not even funny any more, especially since Kita sounds like a kind of cheese, Nit is what you call a louse-egg, and Konch looks like Conch mispelled.

I'm thinking that the Mars thing is from Dairine's work on Mars. Or maybe I just dreamed that. Who knows.

When I try to type Nita and Kit, it always comes out Kita. I'm not sure if that means they're meant for one another, or that I think of them as one being.

On the subject of Ponch--

Has anyone thought that the wizardry leakage was coming from Ponch himself? That he was just waiting for Kit to become a wizard? I know that doesn't quite make sense... There's definitly something about Ponch that suggests that he's a higher being of some sort--maybe kind of like the Transcendesent(sp) Pig.

But then again, if cat wizards handle worldgates, you don't suppose that dog wizards create them? But then, Tom and Carl would know that. Hmm. Mystery. DD shall tell eventually.

Or, from page 38 of Wizard's Holiday, it's what Nita and Kit are up to on Mars. They were planning to do something anyway, but the holiday got in the way. And now the end of the universe is getting in the way. But, one day, they will get to Mars .

Unless the universe ends first, of course.

AlidaART's suggestion leads onto the idea that Kit became a wizard because he was Ponch's owner... maybe Marina doesn't have to worry that he got it from her, after all.

Thats some really interesting thoughts AlidaArt!! I'm really upset I did not think of them! Would that mean that Ponch would be like the dino wizards cause they could create there own worldgates? And I kow that there has been mentioned that there are dog wizards and what I'm interested in is the fact that none have visited Ponch?! Its werid cause If there was a human with special skills I would want to see them! Confusing

Right so where were we? ok right..... well anyway, I was think Tom and Carl suggested to Kit that some reserch wizards may want to meet and study Ponch, when do you think we will find the stuff out? I mean with Kits manual constantly monitering Ponch (I'm sure it is!!) quite a bit of data must already have been passed onto these wizards! WE WANT ANSWERS!

Because I am really interested in this topic, I will join in. I was away for a few weeks and was therefore unable to post.
Anyyyyway... In the third excerpt (which has been up plenty long enough for everyone to read, so i won't white out this post) doesn't Ronan say something about needing the best Finder there is? And doesn't Ponch immediately respond by saying that that would be him? Doesn't this make sense. What do most dogs (excluding mine, who is extremely friendly, but excruciatingly lazy) do? They fetch, they dig, they find stuff! Sooooo, to try and tie this all togeather with some of the things people were saying they noticed about Ponch...

1.) Daryll says that Ponch's eyes are different. Eyes are traditionally what someone looks with (although I realize that Ponch is probably using a different form of Seeing). It would make sense that a Finder would have different eyes.

2.) There is the statement of what Ponch is becoming. All dogs in DD's universe probably have some innate ability to find things, the same way cats have the ability to see the string structure of worldgates. So, therefore, couldn't Daryll be talking about a transition from a normal dogs powers to a hightened ability to Sense?

3.) Ponch finds whole universes! Maybe Ponch doesn't exactly create them, maybe he finds ones that meet his criteria of what he wants. Isn't that the same principle with time patches? That somewhere in all the universes there is one that is in every way exactly like the one being patched except for the event the wizards want to edit out? Can't that mean that Ponch is just extremely good at finding and getting to universes that he wants?

All this is to say that we basically get our answer in the third excerpt. The question that remains is what are the extent of Ponch's powers and how will they be used in the following stories...
