  • Topic Of The Week 07, February, 2009

Which post should win this week's nomination contest?

Choose from the topics (posts/threads) listed throughout the forum(s), and vote for your favorite post now.

What is a Topic Of The Week?
Topic of the Week is a contest that selects posts we'd like the community to choose as a group, by voting, and then comment on/discuss during the course of the selected week. Any listed topic (thread) is eligible for the Topic of the Week selection except topics in the Forum Business section and the Topic of Great Randomness.

How do we determine the Topic Of The Week?

The Topic Of The Week is based on a simple nomination system. Throughout the selected forums, members with adequate permissions can nominate their favorite topic by clicking on the award nomination button below the post. When a user's post is nominated, the number of nominations show up on their "postbit" (that's the text at the top of each post that includes your user information).

The topics with the most nominations during the course of the week are displayed on this thread using the poll feature. (Only the top nine nominees will show, in cases where there are nine or more.) At the end of the week, the first three topics with the most nominations are the award winners of the contest, and acquire reputation points or similar goodies. The mods are presently deciding how these rewards will be handled.

    How do you nominate?

Choose the thread you're interested in, look underneath the first post in the thread for a small "nominate" icon, and click on it. If you're agreeing with someone else's nomination, do exactly the same: go to the top of the thread and click on the icon under the first post. If you make a mistake or change your mind, you can withdraw your nomination by looking for the "Who nominated this post" box at the bottom of the thread and clicking on "Withdraw my nomination".

Some other rules / side issues:

Members can't nominate threads they began, or their own posts in any other thread.

You can nominate up to ten threads/posts per week: two threads / posts per day. Nominations will not increase your post count.

A topic has to have at least five replies before it can be nominated.

Remember, these nominations are for topics that the whole membership will be asked to discuss... so think about your nominations. (Users who abuse the nomination process can be banned from it.)

Have fun, and let the nominations begin!

I would EAT THE HELL outta that steak, then try to guilt the cow into dying just for being a cow. I'd be all "NOM NOM HEY COW YOU'RE NOT MEAT YET WHAT GIVES JERK" and then I'd glare and give it the silent treatment. Same goes for pigs and chickens... I would guilt a FLOCK of chickens into poultrycide in a heartbeat. "HEY YOU'RE A CHICKEN HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT"- Madhatte
