Starting in early 2009, we're planning some significant changes to the YW discussion forums.
After the New Year there will be a major across-the-board redesign of the Forums to better reflect the look and feel of the YW books. More details about the changes will be forthcoming in the next month or so, as the Forum staff have a chance to talk to DD in more detail about what's needed.
Additionally, we're considering some major infrastructure changes across the YW websites. We can't go into too much detail about what's involved in this for the time being, as we're in the earliest stages of discussions about what we'll be doing. More news about what these changes will be will be revealed toward the end of the year.
Meantime, I want to remind Forum members that message content has to continue to be pruned on an ongoing basis to help keep our costs down. If there is an old thread that you'd be unwilling to lose, ask one of the mods to archive it so that there is no chance it will be lost in the upcoming changes. The Topic of Great Randomness is obviously a concern for us as it keeps growing, and we're working on ways to make sure it stays safe through the changes to come.
Anyway, as the year draws to an end, watch this space for new developments!
