hey ppc just ship all the leftover crazy to me ok? i collect it. I mean there is no such thing as too much crazy. there is however such a thing as being too crazy but those two facts are entirely unrelated.
besides less crazy for you means more for me and then i get to figure out what to do with the surplus crazy and try not to go crazy trying to figure out what to do with the crazy.
if any of you are going crazy trying to follow this send me that crazy too please.

Well, I thought that I would jump off the deep end and join in. Laugh if you must .

      Wizardry is the
knowledge of what is wrong and the
      power to fix it.

There was once a Power who caused pain
Most wizards thought it was strange
      That when defeated It was
      It never changed Its cause
And went on to cause pain once again

        Yay, alla!! [clap clap clap].

I suddenly realized the last two lines of my clerihew don't rhyme. Hmmmm. I think it's time to use a rhyming dictionary. (I cannot rhyme for toffee. Luckily, there are reference books/websites for people who cannot rhyme for toffee.)

        Clerihew, take two:

        Diane Duane
        Drives us insane
        Because her publisher keeps
Using a release date that creeps

Ok, this one isn't really a formal verse form, but I have this urge to paraphrase a well-known rhyme:

        At the Crossings
        Heed instructions
        It saves rebuilding
        And constructions
        --Burma Shave

        [The original was: "At school crossings/Head instructions/Save our little/Tax deductions--Burma Shave." I suppose, I should've tried something with "Free! Free!/A trip to Mars!/For 900/Empty Jars!--Burma Shave"....]

          kli6 rhymed:
I suddenly realized the last two lines of my clerihew don't rhyme.
It's an assonance, as Eustace Scrubb claimed in Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Hmmmm. I think it's time to use a rhyming dictionary. (I cannot rhyme for toffee. Luckily, there are reference books/websites for people who cannot rhyme for toffee.)
I'm still boggling at the concept of toffee delegating rhyming to people. I hadn't really thought about toffee as some sort of poetry mastermind, before, and now that image is stuck in my mind.

Yes, it's an assonance, but clerihews are supposed to rhyme, alas.

I always pictured it not so much as a piece of toffee demanding that you rhyme, so much as "for toffee" was kind of like "for food" in "will work for food." But I've never understood why toffee would be such a great motivator, either. Your teeth would stick together after too much of it.

Once there was a disgusting beverage called coffee
So I ignored it and ate my milk chocolate with almonds and toffee
              Toffee is great,
              and clean off your slate,
to start a new day full of toffee that isn't so sticky.

*is miffed* The milk chocolates with almonds and toffee have very good toffee bits. Tastes better than the almonds, and I speak in defense of the toffee.

              I think limericks are fun.

Well, that makes it hard. I thought they were five line poems that worked with AABBA, and the B lines were shorter and kinda ran in a sentence with the final line.

                ???

I coulda sworn Kli had just posted. Now you've gone and deleted your post, and it looks like I've doubled!

Hee hee!! I like your limerick, Gryph!

                  Another Oath haiku

                  Hippocratic-like
The first rule is: do no harm
                  Teach, guard; only heal

Sorry, I made you "slip" Gryph! I realized the formal rules for limerick writing would take all the fun out of it and that I hadn't followed them either. And that you had gotten the rhyme scheme right, so I was wrong. (as I said, I can't rhyme for toffee, and I was thinking two-syllable rhyming, not one-syllable ), so I deleted my post.

                      Until stars are snuffed

                      Guard defend heal

I didn't know what haiku was until Saturday when I was watching Zoe 101 (starring Jamie Lynn Spears, Brittany Spears' little sister). Zoe was helping this really arrogant boy with English, and she explained what a haiku was. He then made one up about how handsome he was. --'

                        Hmm..."to save myself"...that's a hard one. "A book on a shelf?" "A mystical elf"?

                        Help me!
I can't rhyme to save myself!
I'm useless, like a book on a shelf.
I'll never get this poem in!
Unless I'm saved by some sort of mystical elf
                        Help me!
I can't rhyme to save myself!

That didn't follow any form whatsoever. I just typed whatever came in my mind. (Then again, not many of my poems follow a form.) And I don't mean that you're useless, Tui. I couldn't think of anything else. Ooh! Idea! *revises poem*

                          Don't kill stuff.
                          Ease pain.
                          Don't be bad.
                          Help other people.

I could go on and on...but it would get boring. When I get a good haiku I'll post it.

Well, first it's gotta be a haiku.

                            five syllables first
                            then followed by seven beats
                            with five more to end

Haiku are like potato chips, though. You can't stop at just one...

I'll try a haiku... sound really hard, to me.

                              *cuts haiku*

It wasn't depressing (almost), but it wasn't relevant either... *goes to paste in stash*

Leave the aided with nothing to yearn.

                              From the beginning,
                              you knew it's a sacrifice,
                              giving and giving

...But there's more to it than that.

Here's an attempt at the Oath:

                                to repair the world
                                and slow down its destruction
                                as long as I may

I also tried a few YW themed haiku:

                                Yoda pajamas
                                and a laptop computer
                                who needs eye of newt?

                                Millman eases pain
helps hurting ones to grow strong
                                not wizard, but close

                                Nita Callahan,
                                Your book is months overdue.
                                What is your excuse?

                                time to feed the dog
                                chicken chicken chicken yes!
                                arroz con pollo

And stealing one of my favorite phrases from the books:

                                We protect all life
                                the thousand million homeworlds
                                and each subway stop
