Off the top of my head, I'd say "London Still", by the Waifs for the sequences where Nita rings her Dad from Alaalu and Metemne (I think). Even though they're in different books :-).

I think the song "Do You Believe In Magic" by The Lovin' Spoonful is a good song for the entire series!

Hey singer, do you think you could put all your suggestions in one post? DD has to pay for these boards, and the more content in a single post, the better

Anyways, I love "Don't Dream It's Over"; great song. I've never really heard Alison Krauss, but you seem to really like them a lot...perhaps I should take a listen, no?

singer, no worries, but for newbies on the board, of whom I see we've got quite a few these days, most of the rules for this board are stuffed into their own thread, the Board FAQ (see sig below for link).New to the board? Please take the time to read the YW Board-Specific Rules, or Why We're Not Like Other Boards FAQ.

Mike, I don't know the lyrics of Stairway to Heaven, but what about the scene at the end of HW when the Winged Defender shows the Lone Power Timeheart, and says "It's changed since you left", or words to that effect?Bright star that was, dark star that falls, in your downward arc we greet you. Do your poor worst!

Hey Singer, why do I get the impression you like Aussie music? I saw that you've put stuff by Men At Work and Crowded House... But then I might just be assuming stuff.
hey, you're not assuming stuff. i love Aussie music. but Crowded House is from New Zealand.the most amazing band in the world... The Science of Sleep... www.myspace.com/thescienceofsleepar

Everytime I hear the song "Stars" by Switchfoot, I can't believe how much it is like YW. It scares me.
It even uses the word 'entropy'!! How many times does that happen in today's world?!
It just blows my mind.
I kind of imagine the begining is what Nita and Kit think either when they first get wizardry or in WAW when they get "the news" if you will.

take close attention to the 2nd verse I believe? or is it the 3rd...well, that's the whole entropy thing.
haha, you know what I've just realized? there really is such a band as the Cranberries ( i.e. the only band in Ireland Ronan thinks isn't trash)
awesome song, stars is, btwjust let your heart take over and sign with a flourish

*slaps head* Duh! I knew that! Sorry, I wasn't thinking. From now on, I'll remember that Finn brothers = New Zealanders... Oh well. Sorry :-)Bright star that was, dark star that falls, in your downward arc we greet you. Do your poor worst!

You know what's funny? There used to be an earlier edition of Wizard Abroad in the public library near me, and I'm pretty sure it didn't have that bit about the Cranberries. I guess DD or her editor decided to add some stuff to make it a bit more up-to-date. Maybe.Originally posted by Mel:

Of course there's such a band as the Cranberries. What are they teaching kids these days!? (I kid, of course).
But seriously, the Cranberries are great: Ronan's right, they certainly aren't trash. And you know, I don't think my edition mentions them either. Odd. But they're really awesome. Love them.
Now that I'm thinking about them, their song "Icicle" would make a really great song for WD. It's a really sad song with a sort of upbeat, angry feel. Perfect for Nita's sense of helplessness in that book.
