Dad gave me the first book in year 7, when I was 11, turning 12 in about a month. He had been running out of 'kiddy' fantasy books in his collection that he could recommend to me. It was either read SYWTBAW or read the Weirdstone of Brisingamen by Alan Garner again. Naturally I chose SYWTBAW. I was just starting to break away from reading nearly endless piles of Enid Blyton, Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books. To tell the truth, SYWTBAW didn't really grab me. Neither did HW (until I learnt more about computers, we had only just got a computer at the time). What did grab me, to the point of me reading it in class every time the teacher stopped talking was Deep Wizardry, and its still my favourite. After that, I read AWAb as dad bought them home, and then low and behold, I find out that there is a _fifth_ book coming out. So it was a case of looking it up in the Brisbane library catologue and racing to Chermside when it came in. I must be one of the only people in Brisbane who reads them, as I have never had any trouble getting them. Which is good, but bad too. I'd love to be able to actually get together with people and discuss them

My first Diane Duane book was actually a spider-man novel she wrote. I was in 4th grade at that time. Anyways, my family and I went to Florida for our summer vacation. On one of the days we were there, my mom and dad went out to a store with tons of used items. Low and behold, they came back with SYWTBAW. My mom reconized Diane Duanes name and thought it would be cool. to tell the truth, I wasn't as in to fantasy back then as I am now, so I wasn't too thrilled. After the first chapter i became a dedicated Dian Duane fan. At the end of the book i noticed that they gave a website. So I logged on and presto, became a YW member. Since it was before the time that I created the name Azen, my favorite chary in the first book was fred. My favorite number is 22. Tah Dah! Fred22. my user name for almost 3 years on this site. That is how I came to get the books.

My baby brother thought it was a book I had mentioned wanting, so when I was at a babysitting gig he talked Mom into buying it because I was super mad at him. After that though I've scouted out their location everywhere I go.

I was 12 or 13-ish, and at the time my dad had a long-distance girlfriend who was always sending me random stuff, for reasons I never did figure out. But in one of those boxes she sent me, there was a copy of Support Your Local Wizard, and I remember thinking the cover art looked kinda stupid but I finally decided to give it a chance a few days later. Up until then, I had been exclusively reading Piers Anthony and pretty much nothing else. While my dad's relationship with that woman ultimately failed, I'm happy they met or I might never have discovered this wonderful series. <3

back when i used to go to B&N nearly every weekend. i saw the books on a bottom shelf and you can bet i was interested by the title. there was the first one and maybe the third one. honestly though, it took almost three return visits before i picked it up. then when i read those pages about what happened to nita when she picked up the book, i was a little more than mildly excited.

I've read all the HP books that are out twice so i decided to find other books to read. So one day at Barns&Nobles I was looking for other books that involved wizardery and i found So You Want to be a Wizard?

                        Well,
I got hooked becouse one day looking for the last (fornow) Lemony Snicket book I over saw the first YW book. So after reading Lemony Sniket... I weee *SNEEZ* back to the book store nd got it but that was not easy!

I looked at the book and read the first chapter
at first I did not like it becouse it cussed once or twice in the chapter...so I put the book down! Then I walked away...looking for another book it seemed to me I read all of the books in the store! So I wen't to the manga book place of the store!

I saw all of the books some were Wish apon a kiss, Tokoy Mew Mew, Fruit basket, Peach fuzz!
But in some odd and sort of stupid way they all reminded me of the YW book! Then I started to get dizzy, wizzy, gizzy *well you get the point!* and I triped on a pile of Mew Mew books. Then I want'ed thoes books too so I grabed the first on and wen't over to the YW book!

As I gazzed at the hard cover book with its letters So you wan't to be a wizard.
I Digest edition with its smell of new ink!
I looked at the book and wen't to the front line and got the book!...I READ IT IN A DAY!

I had to find a book for a book report and had already begged for an EXTRA day... I had searched everywhere but nothing caught my eye.. My mom took out like ten books, 9 of them you wouldn't catch me reading...but the tenth one, a wizard's dilemna...I thought OK, and of course, I got hooked...
                          Dai, everyone!!!

In sixth grade, I got The Wizard's Dilemma, and was kind of like "thanks, mom..he..he..he" but then i started reading it, and finshed it in like, five hours. (slowly overcoming the confusion of starting at book five, like thinking s'ree was a mermaid and kit was a girl, since my sister has the american girl doll, and that dairine was older than nita...). I then ran to the library and checked out as many of the books as were available. *side note: young wizards is how i discovered fanfiction. There were only 79 stories at the time1*
