Evanescence's Whisper might be good for Darryl.

    Catch me as I fall
Say you're here and it's all over now
    Speaking to the atmosphere
No one's here and I fall into myself
    This truth drives me
    Into madness
I know I can stop the pain if I will it all away
If I will it all away

    Don't turn away
(Don't give in to the pain)
    Don't try to hide
    (Though they're screaming your name)
    Don't close your eyes
(God knows what lies behind them)
    Don't turn out the light
    Never sleep never die

I'm frightened by what I see
But somehow I know that there's much more to come
    Immobilized by my fear
And soon to be blinded by tears
I can stop the pain if I will it all away
If I will it all away

    Fallen angels at my feet
    Whispered voices at my ear
    Death before my eyes
Lying next to me I fear
She beckons me shall I give in?
Upon my end shall I begin
    Forsaking all I've fallen for
I rise to meet the end

It kinda pertains to the sacrifice he made in trapping the Lone One.

    Omnia mutantur, nihil interit.

Everything changes, but nothing is truly lost.
    I will rejoice in the moonlight;
    I will dance in the rivers of my tears;
For I am joyously, wonderfully alive!

Make your own laws or be a slave to another man's. -William Blake

I think the first try was right.... funny word.

Rysade: yeah, Bridge might be a little overused, although it's such a gorgeous song anyway (except the cover EVIL CLAY did. Sorry. I don't even watch that show, but I did see the cover. Shudder.)

And that Evanescence thing.... I'm tossing up whether to ask for that CD for my birthday (tuesday. Whee.)Possibly I'll get it out from the library first.

Hmm, I didn't think of it until just now as I read this thread and started thinking of music, but a song that was haunting to me as a kid sorta fits Darryl's world as he and Nita see it. I don't even know the lyrics, but I realize that the image I got in the book is the same one I had as a kid hearing the song: "Hello" by Lionel Ritchie.

How about the theme song of "Smallville"? It seems appropriate.

Birdhead: YES! Get Evanescence! They're awesome! Although, now that I've checked the date on that post, it might be a little late to ask for it for your birthday. When was it again? Oh,well. You can still get it anyway.

How about Switchfoot? "Meant to Live" seems to fit the overall theme quite well.

                  Fumbling his confidence
And wond'ring why the world has passed him by
Hoping that he's meant for more than arguments
And failed attempts to fly, fly

We were meant to live for so much more
                  Have we lost ourselves?
                  Somewhere we live inside
                  Somewhere we live inside
We were meant to live for so much more
                  Have we lost ourselves?
                  Somewhere we live inside

                  Dreaming about Providence
And whether mice or men have second tries
Maybe we've been livin with our eyes half open
Maybe we're bent and broken, broken

We were meant to live for so much more
                  Have we lost ourselves?
                  Somewhere we live inside
                  Somewhere we live inside
We were meant to live for so much more
                  Have we lost ourselves?
                  Somewhere we live inside

We want more than this world's got to offer
We want more than this world's got to offer
We want more than the wars of our fathers
And everything inside screams for second life

We were meant to live for so much more
                  Have we lost ourselves?
We were meant to live for so much more
                  Have we lost ourselves?

                  Have we lost ourselves?

Awesome song. I do love Switchfoot. I saw them once in concert, but that was before they were popular.

Littlehorse, was reading this topic and found this
                      Omnia mutantur, nihil interit.

Was wondering what language it was in and where you found it. It's cool. Seems vagualey familiar... is it from a YW book?

I'm quite sure "nihil" is Latin, but I don't know where the quote comes from.

I got a Tolkien dictionary recently and it sounds almost Elvish. I'll have to look it up. Elves are awesome..... Just looked it up. Not Elvish.
