  • I was at Barnes and Noble today, and it hit me too.......SIX WEEKS!!!!!!!that just about made my day( and buying a book helped)

And speaking of books.....SQUEAL!!!!!!! *does a random little dance* I can't believe I actually have it!!! For those of you that are wondering just what it is......it 's Mixed Magics by Diane Wynne Jones!!! That book has been out of print for a while, so I had to order it 'special It was smaller than I hoped, but still, it answered a lot of unanswered questions about Chrestomanci.....YAY!!!

Other books are good, and my friend and I had a (sorta) random busrt of hyperness at lunch today, and we were cracking up. It's a long story.....

My puppy, Bella (NOT from twilight) is just sitting here at my feet, licking them. She has this thing about licking. She'll just sit there and lick my toes for at least a minute straight. (I've timed it) and it's not just feet either...
All good books are alike in that they are truer than if they really happened. And after you are finished reading one you feel that all that happened to you and afterwards it all belongs to you: the good and the bad, the ecstasy, the remorse, and the sorrow, the people and the places, and how the weather was.

    • I love daffodils. They are my favorite. They always seems to be staring at the sun, and I like to imagine them tanning.

kk and Wolf - I have an HP Pavilion dv 2000 that I got in 2006 (ish). It has been working great, even though I never wiped it until this past year (4 years of documents and downloads adds up and needs to be cleaned every once in a while). The only issue that I have had other than the occasional freeze is recent issues with my CD drive. It won't burn cd's anymore. Also, my battery is shot - I can't use it for more than about 5-10 minutes if it is not plugged in, but that could be my fault for killing the battery early on. And I am still in XP, so I can't give input on Vista of Windows 7 (which on are they on now?). It has held up well, even though I manhandle it and use it for school constantly. It's a good little computer, and I love it dearly.

Leopard - I know I have seen your comments on amateur radio, and I kind of am curious as to exactly what this consists of. It sounds interesting from the bits and pieces I have gleamed from your posts.

I am really excited for next week. Two of my tests are done, as is my discussion, my paper and presentation (which was horrible when one guy didn't show up for meetings, showed up in class with his own powerpoint, separate form ours, and then asked the teacher to present with another group since he could not find us or contact us in order to work together). So only one take home essay test and its in-class portion and my history project on two inventories from 17th century Maryland (which is actually kind of fun).

Hope everyone on the East Coast is enjoying the snow-free weather!

        • Wolf: Ease up on the caplocks! XP I'll go with you, but my mother would probably tag along. *rolls eyes a bit* But even if she does, who cares that much? Tis DD!

*would insert bouncy smileys, but is just a bit too lazy *

So, the new computer is here! and it's working well so far (I think I love Windows 7, it's just awesome), and it's quite shiny and the hinge is all nice and sturdy. Which is good.

Also, it has a remote control! I completely hadn't expected that, but it has one! Wheeeeeeee!

          Edit:

Wolf: I just found out that I am going to be in NJ on April 22nd. Whether I'm allowed to go or not... I don't know. I'm going to go beg my mom now.

            • Oh, Trialia, I'm sorry!!!! You do live closer to her though than the rest of us...

Estar... you can just hit "edit post" just so you know. =)

DD didn't release the exact time yet, she told me "probably sometime in the afternoon." It's in New York City, NY, in a bookstore called Books of Wonder. Here's the link to the store's NYC location, I used mapquest to figure out where it was in relation to NYCPenn Station, since that's where I'll be coming from. The website has the store hours and a number to call if you have any questions about the store- if you're taking the train, tell me and I'll give you the address for it- it's super close by. ^_^

kk- ohmygosh. I'm so excited. I'm so excited. Maybe you don't want to take the train with me- I'll be insane!

Who else wants to go?! We could totally have a forum meeting

I don't think I need to talk at the moment, but thanks. The night before she went to the hospital, Mom and Fa went to a Rat Pack tribute concert that a long-time friend (my age, more or less) was doing, so I know she was enjoying herself almost literally right to the end.

And congrats on the Bachelor's! *hugs*

Thanks and *hugs* to all the rest of you, too. It's very much appreciated.

                • That's very sweet, that she enjoyed herself to the end. Better to die suddenly and have lived an active happy life than to have a long and drawn-out death.

I stayed up till 2am last night, and went to Denny's Diner for pancakes at midnight. It was for my friend's birthday, and it was really fun- we played musical chairs in the resteraunt since it was empty!- but I was so wrecked today that I fell asleep in media res of Physics! =)

                    • I can't go, either.

I have a MacBook Pro. Got in September for school, and the only problem I've had with it is the track pad decided to physically break, but the people at the Apple store were nice enough to replace it 'cuz it was still under warranty. Very helpful, the Apple people are. Transferring files between the PC and Mac is a bit sketch, though, sometimes.

I have two interviews next week, which makes me happy. One's for a volunteer position for orientation at my university and the other is for a summer job at a kids science camp. I really hope I get both of them.

Only three more physics labs then I don't ever have to take another physics lab! *does happy dance* And 11 more physics lectures. I'll be so glad when I don't have to take physics anymore!
I stand tall, proud, brave, straight, and strong.
Fairest and Fallen, greetings and defiance.

                        • I am finally on spring break, and...I have no clue what's going on here. I just remembered this afternoon that AWOM is coming out, and gave the title to Mom so she can pick it up from the store once it comes out, hopefully...and hopefully I'll have time to read it too.

I don't know why, but this semester has been insane. So. Much. Reading. I mean, I expected it, but it's weird to have literally no written homework, just occasional papers and a 100+ pages of reading a night for each class. (the pasts few semesters I've had to take classes like math and latin to fulfill requirements, and those both had written homework every night, sort of like in high school.) I like it, but...whoa. It's crazy. And because my best guy friend doesn't get along with one of my roommates, and we both are swamped in homework, I rarely see him. I miss him a lot, and I just want him around; he makes me feel so much less stressed out. But he's a physics major, and therefore our classes don't really overlap, and aren't even in the same part of campus.

I switched my major to History! I just felt like my gut was telling me that I wasn't cut out to be an English major; when we were scanning poems by a poet named Sor Juana for meter, I just hit a point where I realized that while I am obsessed with literature...I'd rather read it for the historical point of view, not for interpreting things like author's intent or symbolism. So I switched my major, and feel good about it.

What else...I got approved to study abroad in Scotland in the fall! Veryvery excited about that, and cannot wait to go. I feel like there's so much to do...I need to go apply for my passport, and apply to my program still, and do a million different things.

Oh, and after 10 years worth of alternating between having braces on and off, finally concluding in about 7.5 years total time spent with braces on my teeth, I get them off next week. I have not been this happy in a longlong time.

I don't have time to go back and read up on everyone's replies, as I'm about to fall asleep but I did see something about your mom Garrett; my condolences. You and your family will be in my thoughts.

Ok. The college student who is beginning to feel very old is going to bed now. I am on spring break, am 19 years old, and should want to go out with friends and have fun; yet I just want to sleep from now until March 21st, when my break ends. May as well sleep now, as I'm not going to once I get back to school...

                            • Biscuit: I don't know...I would MUCH rather read than write...i just really don't like writing...but I am obsessed with reading...

School is not any fun right now...my pre-algebra teacher was in a REALLY bad mood today. these are her exact words when we did bad measuring circumference of circles with string....."I thought you guys knew how to read a ruler. Apparently I was wrong" Is that insulting, or am I just sensitive...the mistakes weren't even that big!!

I'm in a production of Annie right now, and it's really fun, especially because the girl who plays Annie and the guy who plays Daddy Warbucks are the same age, but 'Annie' is about have his size.....it's funny....

I just read the latest book in a series I liked, but the end was sorta sad...i think the sadness was sort of unnecessary...oh well

                              • I'm just really mad because our Music Appreciation teacher(it's a really lame subject) decided that we should be writing three essays a month to hand in, and that every essay turned in late lowers your grade by 10%(meaning that if you would have gotten a 95 and you turned it in late, you get an 85). So now, on top of all of our homework, we've got three essays to write, one of which must be a summary of what we've been doing in class, and two of which must be based on research done at home..... About foreign singers and stuff that you've never even heard of.
