  • Knowledgable LOTR fans?

I have a friend with a b-day coming up and she loves the LOTR, so i was thinking about making her something that is LOTR related. I tried to make that leaf pin thing, but the stuff i was using wasn't strong enough. So, i am i'm going to try make a book that looks like the book that Bilbo wrote. I've never actually read the LOTR, though I've seen the movie, so i what i need to know is if the books describe what There and Back Again looks like. Does anyboday know? Thanks!

Urm...I think that it's always described as being red...

Can anyone else add to that?

I don't know much about it but, yes it's red and a little worn down because Bilbo and Frodo had been working on it for years. I don't know about the content, though. I would just leave it blank and make it into a sort of diary! Bad idea, I know.

        The diary idea is cool...
It ought to look like a really old red book...most likely with pealing gold lettering...

There and Back Again. Wasn't that the original name for The Hobbit? Urg. I guess I oughta leave it to the people who've read LOTR. I've only read The Hobbit & seen the movie. Which isn't all that accurate. You have some major cramming and altering there!

Yeh it's called 'There and Back again, A Hobbit's tale'. I have never read the book, just a few chapters, but, the movie was pretty accurate on the book, I think.

OK. I have read everything! Exceot Silmarillion and the Book of Lost Tales but that's a WHOLE other story...

There and Back Again was a book Bilbo started, which was supposed to be of the adventure he had with the dwarves. After Frodo's adventure, though, The Lord of The Rings story was added to it by Frodo himself. It's an ooollddd book though they never actually describe it in the books.

Isn't it also called "The Red Book of Westmarch"?

But I think that's what it was supposedly called centuries later by the historians in Middle Earth. It's not the title Bilbo used.
