  • Johari windows

There was an interesting meme going around LiveJournal a couple of years back about Johari Windows. You pick from a fixed list of adjectives about yourself, and have your friends do it as well. It then divides the answers into a 2x2 square of things you know and don't know about yourself, and what your friends do and don't know about you.

Mine is over here, if you want to chime in -- if you just want to start your own, go to the main page.

Edit: ok, fine. Here's my Nohari window -- the reason I didn't do it before is probably summed up by the adjectives I chose. :-)
"...and that's how Snuggles the hamster learned that yes, things COULD always get worse."

"You are the most insolent child I have ever had the misfortune to teach." "Thank you."

That is interesting. I added to yours and created my own.

I also created the other version - the negative one.

Time passes. Even when it seems impossible.
Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise.
It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me.

          This thing's neat.

          Here's mine, the positive one.

And here be the negative side.

How do people come up with these ideas?

Well, here's my positive one: Johari link

...And my computer's not loading the Nohari page right now, so maybe I'll come back and edit that in later if it'll let me. Very interesting concept, this is.

              Here's possitive: http://kevan.org/johari?name=Rubywolf

              negative: http://kevan.org/nohari?name=Rubywolf

I think this i sreally interesting, especially the idea of a blind spot being able to be worked on.

*is slightly alarmed at how consistent the answers are for his Nohari*

I don't really like filling the Nohari windows out -- I don't tend to dwell on negatives with people, or I pick one to ignore and don't think about the rest of them.

Besides, I don't really know a lot of people well enough to pick 6 bad things about them. :-) (or 6 good things, but that's easier to fake...)

I only do the Nahari if it's about someone I know fairly well. But, I don't think anyone's lying about the positive ones.

*snickers* Because all of two people have filled out your Nohari, Garrett. But yeah, I get it. I'm okay with filling out Noharis so long as I know the person won't throw a fit about my opinions of them.

Who's this Anonymous on my J(N)ohari? I would like to know who saw through my social facade to realize that I'm a cold, cynical, inflexible person. It's true, every word. And here I thought I had everyone fooled. Though I really must protest "happy" in my Johari. I'm actually depressed most of the time.

Who's this Anonymous on my J(N)ohari?
Me. Takes one to know one. At least, I'm anonymous on the Negative one. On the other I use my name.

Interesting. I've done this in the past, and was pleasantly surprised to see it here. The problem is, though - how many people know me (or any of you guys) well enough to do this accurately?

Well, Sean, why don't you put one up so we can find out?

Most of my friends commented with their names; I hope you do the name, though I understand if you don't.

The one thing is that I think I would pick different adjectives to describe me now; I first set this up a year or something ago.

One last thing - actually, don't feel like you shouldn't contribute if you don't know me that well - this is all about perceptions, not necessarily realities (though many people will say perception is reality) and so I'm interested in how you view me, whether you know me or not.

Sorry to get a little off-topic, but the realities thing caught my attention.

Isn't what we perceive our reality? Yes, it's not THE reality, but is perceiving the ultimate reality even possible? We are limited to what we know, and sometimes disturbed by what we don't understand...but only the things that are actually processed through our insignificant minds can become part of what we believe in. It's not the truth, but it's part of it.

                              Sorry. I like tangents.
