      • Here's one I wrote yesterday.

Maybe it never occured to you
that all of my stinging jokes and comments
were me shouting my loudest at you

Not long and not pretty. Just think about it.

        • Life, the Great Dream

          Dreaming again
          of things that never were
          things that never will be
          things that never could be.
          But dreams make things real,
          real beyond imagination,
          real beyond comprehension.
          Life is a dream,
one we must wake up from.
          For all dreams must end,
but the reality is so much
          the sweeter for the dream.

            Stars above the earth,

            Tears in Heaven's eyes.

yay! another haiku! not as quick to write as i wanted it, but oh well.

            • A poem that's quick
              Can only be slick.
Mere doggerel scrawled in a minute
Can never have meaning in it.

              • It's late in the night,
                but for you i'll write,
                a short poem in reply.
                A poem can be great,
                with what they relate,
whether long or the blink of an eye.

                • For that matter, I could have argued the opposite:

                  Meaning in rhyme
                  needn't take time.
                  The true poet
                  should know it.

                    and i know no rhyme
                    i'm just posting this
                    too pass the time
                    i've done 4 lines
                    and now i'm tired
                    dreaming about
                    things i desire

                    • some of my doggerel:

                      Misted Mirrors

                      faded light from long ago
                      falls through gossamer curtains
                      onto a wooden floor
                      summer sunlight
                      illuminating memories
                      long darkened...

                      falling asleep
                      to the turning
                      of a carnival-lamps glow--
                      soft and mysterious
                      a welcome friend
                      probing the darkness,
                      guarding my sleep.

                      an old scrapbook--
                      collections of life
                      facets
                      fragments
                      splinters
                      shards
                      looking back--
                      or trying to--
                      through a misted mirror.

                      bright shadows dance
                      forgotten dreams
                      awaken
                      the world spins--
                      time has no meaning.

                      soft sand
                      frosty seaglass
                      crystal water
                      the wind dances
                      but I stand still.
I'm crying cuz things aren't how
                      they used to be
                      she said,
                      "The battle's almost won
and we're only several miles from the sun..."

                        • Ooo. That's really purtyful. I made one a while back... *thinking* Ah, here it is.

                          Raining Tears

                          Raindrops, perfect in detail,
                          splashing below on perfect leaves,
                          growing on the branches
of perfect trees in the forest.

                          Falling from the sky,
                          like tears from heaven,
from the open gates of heaven,
                          falling down upon the earth.

                          Angels' tears, perhaps?
                          Or God's own, weeping for
                          His lost children?
                          Weeping for the world lost.

                          • Such serious lines...
                            Whereas I, apathetic,
                            Type simple haiku.

                            What, then, is poetry?
Life--and all the rest of it
                            Or rambling nothings?

                            Like so many things
                            Many haiku at once become
                            Bland to the taster.

                            • I love writing poetry. It's fun, and I'm pretty good. My school has a contest called Reflections, and every year there's a differnt topic. Thre are four categories: literature, visual arts, music, and photography. This year to topic was " A Different Kind of Hero" and my poem won. It was soooo cool, because last year I got runner-up. Now I get to advance to the county level!
