The main thing that bothers me is the dissapearing species type of thing. The rain forest is full of life of all kinds and people just don't respect that. Some of that has to do with the Christian beleif that we [humans] are the center of the universe. We could certainly do without religion interferring with polotics. And it's not just Christianty that's being a pain. It's people in general. I wouldn't say save the rainforest for cures. Because then it'll be destroyed for being a different source of resources. Look at it like this. Not only will it be torn apart by people wanting wood, space, animal hides, ect, but it'll be torn apart by people who need a certain plant or animal with whatever useful curative properties.

Sorry, Agent M, I didn't mean to pressure. it's just that one of my best friends spends her whole life sitting on the fence (her dad is a high-ranking public servant and isn't allowedto offer an opinion on anything, and so she thinks she should act accordingly) and it drives me ABSOLUTELY BONKERS so.. *sigh* Sorry, blame it all on a very different Meg and ignore me.
I should also completely reverse my normal persona (because you should do that, like, all the time, not) and defend Christianity by commenting on the fact that the idea that we are the centre of the universe is not Christianity-specific. It may be Western-related, and you could read a wonderful book by Barbara Kingsolver called Animal Dreams for some ideas on that and lots of other stuff... she mentions rather passionately that Western civilisation seems to think we have the world handed to us on a platter, while (specifically) native Aerican beliefs run that we're more the planet's houseguests...
Sorry, I think I lost control of that sentence somewhat. At any rate, my point was that there are numerous folks around who are not Christian who think we're the centre of the universe- and vice versa. bush gives a bad name to Christianity; I'm not Christian, and I dislike religion, but it's not all bad, it depends on how you interpret it... *shrugs* just being Friendly Watchdog.Go ahead! I don't recall Gryphon being Christian either. (I forget but some people on this site are an atheists. And we have many Jewish people. I'm Christian myself but I've kind of made up my own beliefs because my family doesn't go to church that often.) Some of the things I believe in are reincarnation, I think there is 1 God but some other angels assisting Him, (secretaries haha.)penguins will rule the world.

I'm Christian, and I definitely think the rainforest should be saved. All life is important, not just human life. I don't know much about politics... I don't really pay attention. But from all the things I've heard about Bush, I don't like him at all. Kerry's not that great either.

Ahh Angel... you will find in life that sometimes your choices aren't very good and you end up having to choose the lesser of two evils, so to speak.
When I was growing up, I thought that life was more black and white... good and bad. I find now, that there is a lot more gray than anything else.-----------------------------I'm not paranoid! Which of my enemies told you this?

And blue...purple...red...green...yellow...and orange for me. And a lot of pink. Nothing is just black and white, we always have choices no matter what the situation is, you ALWAYS have a 3rd choice. You just have to get up and look for it.
Chani you are always so wise. I'm thinking of calling you Chani-san. (I love to make annoying nicknames.) *puts on Japanese robe and bows "Thank you Chani-san."
Now to be random: I really want to learn Chinese. Ecspecially how to write it. I'm not asian or anything but I think their language and style of writing is very cool.penguins will rule the world.

Just don't get me started on Bush or the war in Iraq. If u want to hear me rant, let me know, and I will happily oblige. But on the Kerry/Bush thing-I don't know much about Kerry, but I do know I hate Bush. There was a comic strip that had a guy and he said "I could go either way in this election. I mean, Bush lied to us, got us into a useless war, plunged us into debt, blah blah, I don't remember the rest. But I've heard some wishy-washy things about Kerry, so I could go either way"
or something like that. If u want to hear a very long rant on why America today is evil (in my opinion) just let me know.I promise I will use no more fun funs

I have no idea how politics works, but Bush is not the answer. The last thing we need is an absent rainforest. We have no passenger pigeons, no dodos, birds and beasts of all varieties are being slaughtered all over the world, sometimes to feed the starving because they have nothing else to eat, but mainly because some drunken redneck decided it would be hilarious to see how many times he can run over small animals before it's officially genocide. And if that weren't enough, he's having the army bomb the Sumerland beyond any hope of repair. Sumeria (currently Iraq) was once the very cradle of civilization, and look at it now. Life is collapsing around our ears.

Is there any movement within the USA to replace the infamous electoral college system with a directly elected president? I ask because my main memory of the last election was a commentaing saying that they knew who had more votes (Gore), but weren't quite sure who had won...
The governing Labour (non right wing) party here in the UK has has problems. On the one hand, they would dearly like Kerry to win, because the Democrats policies are more in tune with theirs, plus people think that the Prime Minister is a little to subserviant towards Bush. On te other hand, as a foreign goverement, they can hardly express an opinion on how the US peope should vote, plus they have to allow for Bush winning.
Also...
Who is the USA's biggest alley in the 'War on terror'? The UK
What started the war on terror? The attacks on the World Trade Center
What is the World Trade Center being replaced with? A very tall building
How tall? 1776 ft
Why 1776? That was the year the USA declared independence
From whom? The UK..."Never let your sense of morals prevent you from doing what is right" - Salvor Hadrin, in Isaac Asimov's Foundation

Ok I didn't get most of that, but that's ok. Here's my rant.
First of all, I think Bush is an idiot. I mean, he's actually said stuff like "If you teach someone to read, he or her will be able to pass a literacy test".
Second, I think the War in Iraq is the stupidest war in the history of the universe because A)Bush said there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and that's why we attacked, but did we ever find any? NO! B)Even if there had been weapons of mass destruction, why was it our business? Since when had the US become the international police? Why do we think that we're better than every other nation in the world, and that gives us the right to do whatever we feel like, whenever we feel like without the permission of the UN. In fact, we asked for their permission, and they wouldn't let us because they had sent people to Iraq to look for WMD and hadn't found any! So we had no right to attack Iraq.
Thirdly, he lied to us about the WMD, among other things.
Fourth, in four years he managed to destroy the US's good reputation with other countries.
That's all I can think of right now, but there may be more later. The Taiko Dodo and Mitten of Insanity
I promise not to funfun anymore
