    Z... corn isn't a vegetable... it is a grain.

Fruit are body cleansers and veggies are body builders. Veggies are very good for you. Dark green ones, especially, are high in iron and other essential nutrients. (ahh.. the mom in me comes out.)

There is nothing wrong with ketchup.... actually tomatoes are good for you too.. they are said to be cancer fighters. *sigh* Food... can't live with it and can't live without it.

What amazes me is that are people who like their sunflower seeds witout the shell! I always used to eat them whole, prefably picked right the sunflower itself.

A fruit has a fleshy outer part with seeds in the middle... unless it's a strawbery, which has it's seeds on the outside.
Interestingly, although a lot of green veg is high in iron, some greens (eg spinach) actually contain it a form that is hard for your body to extract. Your best way of upper your iron intake is to eat plenty of meat (especially red meat). Black pudding is especially good.

You know something really, really terrible?
That you can find how to get sunflowers out of shells on a large scale on Google.
I mean, not terrible, exactly. just... awful, in the sense of "full of awe."

Terrible: Something that inspires terror. It works. Speaking of bananas, they're berries, not fruits! Entirely useless knowledge, but fascinating nonetheless! As to salads, I'm not much for idea of simply 'a salad', if I want to chew leaves I'll find a tree. I'm more for the croutons and avocado slices and baby corns and chicken breast exotic-and-overwhelming salads.

... berries are fruits, aren't they? Just a specific, smaller sort.

          And actually, bananas are fish.

Vegetables... I don't like beans, but I like most others. Not Aubergines, if they count- but the colour is SO gorgeous.

I don't like the sunflower seeds that come in the shell. They require way too much effort. I prefer soy beans myself. Except when you eat too many and they make your stomach sick. It's also the same as when I ate too many Cinnamon Chips, so now looking at them makes me sick.

As far as veggies....I like anything grilled, including eggplant. But not Brussel Sprouts. They're gross.

Okay... dare I ask, what is 'black pudding'??

When I was pregnant with all my boys, my body wouldn't absorb the pre-natal vitamins, so I had to eat lots of spinach and drink a green drink (made from either wheat or barley greens) to get my iron count up. Those worked just fine. I have never heard that the iron in spinach is too hard to digest. Sounds very strange. Hmm.....

Sunflower seeds... very good for when you have a lot of time and don't want to be so bored. 'Course, I don't eat much these days.

Isn't it a pudding made with blood? Someone else can go google up recipes. :-6

If that is the case, then that is just gross. I don't know if I would ever eat it. I prefer Jello pudding or tapioca pudding or just plain vanilla custard pudding.

Nothing like adding a little blood to curdle the stomach.

I don't eat Gelatin (animal cartilage)

I LOVE eggplant!! esp. in soup. Or fried in organic eggs ( I will eat organic cage free eggs, but only some times because of the cholesterol (sp?) My mom says eleven years old is too young to be worrying about my health.)

BEFORE I became a vegan, I used to LOVE liver and onions (I was a health freak). I remember all of the other seven-year-olds that wouldn't eat anything without cheese on it. heehee.

It was only last year that I tried brusslesprouts (I was raher open-minded to new foods as long as they are good for you, and they didn't cause any animal-cruelty). I took a huge bite of it thinking that it would taste good, and after that, this FOUL taste erupted in my mouth. BLECH!!!

I also remember one time my dad took me to a veitnamese restaraunt. he had a choice between meatballs and tripe. He wanted to try something new, so he chose tripe. Then I told him what tripe was (cow stomach) and he had to chase down the waitress to change his order.
... But he was looking through the window at the one joy from which he must be forever barred.

VC... tripe ...another gross thing. I have to admit I am not that brave. Why are we talking about gross food. Why not really good food? I know, it is far more interesting to be gross.

Surfy... what is a body cleanser? Well, fruit help your body to naturally get rid of toxic waste that stays in your body. They clean your blood and organs of impurities (that could eventually make you sick), therefore, given the name of body cleansers.

I think the definition of a fruit is something that forms when a flower's pollinated, and has a nutritive substance to feed the seeds, as well as the seeds in it. A vegetable is basically any other edible part of a plant: root (carrot, potatoes), stalk (celery) or leaf (cabbage, lettuce). Bare seeds, I'm guessing, count as veggies: corn, beans, grains, etc.

                              That's why a tomato's a fruit, and a potato isn't, even though they're closely related plants.

Chani, gross and good are in the eye of the beholder. I like tripe. And brussel sprouts. I like lots of things other folks consider gross. My reward is that I have a lot more great food choices.
