She'd rather not people get into fights over this... Religion is a volatile subject. Also, some people could come to a religion topic for the sake of battling their views.
I agree that that is true, but I don't think anyone is doing either of those things here, though. We're discussing, based on a fairly innocuous and not-particularly-good quiz. I also agree that getting into a fight about it would be not-good. I also think that discouraging discussion on the topic isn't an answer to that issue, particularly when nobody has fought about anything.

    Try "nonreligious" then?
    Why?

MAYBE in theory because there is no way that could be said about the current situation between Israel- Palestine.
Which is why I said in theory. But then, in theory, Christianity at least is supposed to be an accepting religion, too (love thy neighbor and forgiveness and so forth), and just as not every Christian follows those philosophies, not every Jew acts in accordence with Jewish philosophies. It is, though, the extremists of all religions who are generally the loudest and most visible.

Cress, I know what you mean. When we did conformation at our Church (which is like becoming an adult member of your church) we had to write a Faith Statement. This is with all 8th graders and it was amazing. After hearing what everyone said and walking a labryinth (I dunno how to explain it you might try looking it up..) it just changed my views as a Christian. That night we walked the labryinth was amazing. Everyone was crying and it was wonderful. After everyone was more... well open and everyone talked about diffrent things that had happened and affected their lives, good and bad. My views after that have changed greatly. I'm even more of a Christian now and, well, I just wanted to share that..

It was funny too because that was a retreat and afterwards when we all saw our parents well, I dotn think I was the only one crying. Btw, in case some of you dont know, I'm not the crying kinda person. I dont like crying in front of people and I dont do it at all.

I dunno why I wrote that but there ya go.

I'd call it obviating disaster then. Though this forum seems pretty nice, we've gotten into some very nasty fights about controversial topics. And yes, there have been fights on religion too here.

I think Hinduism is the most accepting -- they beleive that all other religions are striving for the same goal, just by different means.

I think that the most opressing religions through history have been the Christian and Jewish religion, the muslim being the most opressed, and the three being the most violent.

I don't think anyone on here is going to blow up on this. We're usually pretty good when it comes to topics that most people find sensitive, since we all put the "I think" kind of thing in front of what we say, or "generally". We just get mad at eachother in other topics that no sane person would get mad over. Jk.
I don't take my religion really seriously right now. I'm still trying to figure out what my religion is, so I can't really get mad if someone says something mean.

You scored as agnosticism. You are an agnostic. Though it is generally taken that agnostics neither believe nor disbelieve in God, it is possible to be a theist or atheist in addition to an agnostic. Agnostics don't believe it is possible to prove the existence of God (nor lack thereof).

Agnosticism is a philosophy that God's existence cannot be proven. Some say it is possible to be agnostic and follow a religion; however, one cannot be a devout believer if he or she does not truly believe

I took the quiz and the results were pretty wrong... 1st it said I was Islamic... Which actually made sense since its so close to the Jewish religion, which is my faith. Though the part with Mohamed being the last profet... 1st, there were no questions about Mohamed, so I don't know how they came to that conclusion. And no, I don't believe Mohamed was the last profet, so no, they were wrong.
The 2nd time I too it, they said I was a Pagan... NOT true. I'm a jew, and believe in their beliefes strongly, though I sometimes get confused between which I stand by more, Christianity (which is my dad's religion) or Judaism (which is my mum's religion). The difference between these two religions is only the Jesus factor, which confuses me a lot... Whether he's a profet, or more then that... What sways me is that there's actual proof that he was around, he isn't like Moses, where there still looking for proof. And I wonder maybe if he was more than that, some kind of angel, which would be leaning more towards Christian beliefs. Though I like the idea of the way Jew's see things, its very practical but then again, full of spirituality. And its been around for so long. Like, no matter how much we're oppressed were still here... Makes me wonder.

Sorry, but I have to strongly disagree with this. Though your totally intitled to your own oppinions, the Jewish religion has not been the most oppressing thats for sure. I think you've got that backwards, add up all of the things thats happened to them. Egypt, the Romans forcing them to convert, Babylonia, Judah's conqueror, who knocked down the 1st temple. And once again, the temple was knocked down. Who can forget the nazi's? Remember 6 million jews were brutaly killed. And the Cristian religion is rather young to be accused of being the most oppressing. The muslims, I'm not going to say they haven't been oppressed, but most of their problems have been with their own people. I definatly don't agree with the fact that the Jewish, Christian, Muslim branches are the most violent. What I will say, is that they are some of the oldest religions around (other than the far eastern religions) and that during the times before Christianity was around, all religious groups were much more vicious to each other. Killing was more of an everyday thing, just read the torah/koran, or any of the scriptures from the ancient Roman empire, Babylonia...

Thats just my take on things.

I agree, Nella. I'd say that the most oppressed have been the Jews. The most misrepresented: Islam AND Christianity. You see, Muslims have always been portrayed as a violent, cult-like faith, while Christians have been portrayed as stick in the mud members of the Inquisition. Sure, people in the past did go on stupid crusades...but that was politically motivated, under the masquerade of religion. In actuality, I believe that most so-called cases of oppression were really Kings going on power trips and using God as an excuse.

...yeah...there's my rant for the day. Heh ^-^ Please continue.

Yea, muslims have gotten a lot of negative responses because of 9/11 etc. There are these extremists that are about 10% of the total muslim community, and people hold crap against all muslims because of it. Even though Islam tries to teach peace, love, respect, and hope.

I agree with that completely. Though normally, if a King didn't follow God's orders, he was killed, or punished, and a new kind would take over. A good example of this is Kind Saul. God ordered him to kill every Amalacite(sp? I'm pretty sure it was them... A little fuzzy, summers gotten to me what can I say.) God comanded Saul to kill all their crops, livestock, and people, because they'd horrible oppressed Israle in preceeding times.
Saul went in, and killed all the Amalacites except their king and their best livestock, disobeying God's orders. Because of this, not only did Saul get knocked off the thrown, starting the reign of King David, but the Amalacites bothered the Jewish people for years and years to come, and they always seemed to slip out of the Jewish people fingers, never getting fully wiped out.
Which (to me) explains why so many kings reigned over the ancient world. Because they thought they could get away with anything because they were 'chosen' by God. And they did stupid things, and in result, were off the thrown right away, whether the public knew it right then and there, or not for a few years, God didn't want a king who would be foolish and used his power the wrong way... Unfortunatly, many kings did just this. Which only meant one thing... Trouble.

Kind of a fun quiz. Unfortunately it is fundamentally flawed, in that many of the yes or no questions presuppose the existence of a god. How can you reasonably answer yes or no, if you don't believe in the underlying concept on which the question is based?

Wizardling- are you saying that you athiest?(sp? sorry about that if i spelled it wrong) because there was an option for being athiest... and the spot that said no also had the n/a (non applicable) symbol underneith it, which means you can't answer. Though I thought that was a little weird, because how would the computer know if you were saying n/a or no flat out?
