Most of us have realised by now that there are quite a few people who like writing stories and novels. This is the place to post them. If you are writing a novel, post a part of it every now and then. If your story is long, you might want to post half of it first and another half later. Otherwise, it's a bit intimidating. This is a great way to get feedback on your stories. Please, constructive criticism only. This is not an argueing thread.

Ok. Sice no one else is contrributing, I'll do it.

The sun rose into the golden sky. She raised her head and howled her pleas for help. The trap was tight and cutting into her silver fur. She could not lay down, she could not sit. her pack not answering, she resigned to her fate. Some rich lady would soon wear her coat. A little bird landed on the branch above her. His rich voice mocking her pain. How dared he sit and sing love when her love was coming not to save her?
She sighed and tried to get more comfortable. Hunger slashed its claws on the inside of her stomach. A rustle of leaves signalled a deer or other source of food., but she could not get any. Her nose scented the animal. it wasn't a deer.
What was it?
It came into the clearing. Was it not afraid?
Of course not.
It was the guardian of the forest.
Silver and tall, solidified moonlight. Twas the one horned, the pure and beautiful. Its horn could save the life of anyone. Not even It could save her from the jaws of the trap, however.
The unicorn lowered its horn. It blew on the trapped wolf and its life left it. She fell dead.
The unicorn lowered its horn. The body disappeared. The trap lay closed and empty.
the unicorn trampled a young rose and blew on the broken petals. The petals grew and changed color, then merged and formed the dead wolf. The Unicorn touched the corpse with its horn. The corpse awoke. The foot that the trap had caught was healed, although dried blood graced it.
She arose. Upon her chest, a red star signified that she was still dead. She arose into the dawn and placed herself in Canis Major. she became the Heart of all canines, from the noble wolf to the tiny, shaking, Chihuahua. there Sirius shines, the brightes star that gives proof that dog may be man's best friend, but man is dog's worst enemy.

Although that isn't YW fanfiction (which is definitely banned from this site, for legal reasons), it may be a bad idea to post any fiction at all to this site.

This topic, like the Continuing Story topic, may be deleted if DD decides it could cause her legal problems.

Basically, there are other sites to post your writing - Gryphon is starting one at the moment.

Obviously, I concur with PM on this one. This is a message board, it's meant for discussion (hopefully of the YW series). It's not really meant to be a MySpace or a blog or IMs or a private notebook to show to your friends. I think maybe using this thread to talk about writing, (e.g., "Gosh, it's hard to come up with a good character!") rather than posting the writing itself might be useful.

I'm sure that DD's thrilled that a lot of her fans want to be writers and are actively writing and would want to be the last one to discourage anyone from writing, but there is always this legal problem of having the stuff here. Someone might post a bit of fiction about a dragon. And then, completely unrelated to that, DD puts a dragon into the YW books somewhere, and someone points and says, "Hey, she stole that from me!" and we're off to the insanity races. It only takes one deluded person and one idea collision. (sigh).

I'd say keep the fiction to the Continuing Story thread, and whatever you do, make sure it's scrubbed clean of YW anything. For your own stuff, particularly if it's long enough to be a novel, don't make DD pay for its storage, but keep it on a personal website, blog, or fiction writing website, and then, if you want to introduce folks here to it, post a link.

We understand. or at least, I do. Can we continue to write until DD makes a decision? It's rather ahrd to get in touch with other writers, especially since some of us are banned from some sites such as Myspace. This is one of the few large forums that is not over run with people who are interested in everything that's anti-bookish. Besides, I don't even have enough money for a lawyer. (Although I know that's not the point.) Any way, thanks for pointing that out.

No worries. So far, DD hasn't said anything about the Continuing Story thread, so it's safe to continue wordsmithing there, for now. And yeah, we likes our books and reading here, we does.

DD has been in touch with me about the fiction postings.

While she very much appreciates the praise for the forums as a place more strongly oriented toward readers than usual, she's increasingly uneasy about the presence of any fan fiction here at all, whether YW-oriented or not. When such fiction is present on a site that she controls, it opens her up to some unfortunate legal implications.

In particular, if DD should write something in the future that reminds some poster of something they've written, it would be entirely too easy for that person to sue her with the presumptive assumption that she had access to the material simply because it was posted here. I'm not saying that anyone here would do that. But some other time, some other person... it could happen.

With regret, she's asked me to lock these threads down, and to ask the posters please to take the fiction elsewhere. After everyone has copied the material down to other formats, I'll be deleting the threads.

Please expedite this, people, as DD will not be entering the forums again until I can tell her that the fiction's been removed.
