Hm, I was ten when I got SYW, didn't find out there were other books until some months later. YW has been my favorite series, and Ms. Duane my favorite author, since the day I read SYW.

I've read Tolkien, CS Lewis, the Bronte sisters, Jane Austen (who was my favorite before I got SYW), and Diane is my favorite. And I'm darn proud of it!

BTW, I'm thirteen now. Yeah, just thought I'd mention it, since this was a thread about age and all . . .

"...Not old enough to love as yet
But old enough to die, indeed
The death-fear bites my throat and heart
Fanged cousin to the Pale One's breed
But past the fear lies life for them
Perhaps for me; and past my dread
Past loss of Mastery and life
The Sea shall yet give up Her dead..." /Song of the Twelve, Deep Wizardry./ (c) Diane Duane

No need for continuity, I assure you. I mentioned my age, right? *checks* It seems I have not. I'm 19.

Well, uh, I don't know if anybody here knows me or even if they care, but I'm 14. What stinks BIG time about my Wizard experiance is that I listened to "High Wizardry" on tape first, and at the same time checked out "Abroad" an then, after "High Wizardry" listened to it. I didn't even figure out about #1 or #2 for about a month.
I shoulda known, though. Books like that couldn't have been written like they were without there have been some books befor them. And if there are books like that out there, Lord help the poor reader.

Well, considering the fact that my signiture is immensly cool, then I would say yes, it is pretty normal.

Hahahahahaha. Just Kidding! I really don't know if it is normal or not...It is pretty accurate though... The city I live in is absolutely filthy (no, it is not New York or one of those pretty big cities). My friends and I have this joke about wearing our sunglasses at night, (conjured after the totally awsome 80's hit "I Wear My Sugglasses at Night" by somebody I don't really know of....). And the last bit about "Now aren't you happy you read this?", well, actually, i just put that in there because i couldn't think of anything else to write..... hehe

I love the quote because it is so UNBELIEVEBLY accurate. It means that we usually mess things up and make things more complicating and confuseing by lying about them, especially when you aren't adept in the art of lying. So you just dig yourself a deeper hole. I thought it was funny that somebody actually had a quote on such a semi-confusing topic. So there it is.

It doesn't strike me as odd at all... whatever the issue, whatever the experience, you can guarantee that someone's been there before, and found the right words for it. Sometimes you may not know the right quote, but it _is_ out there.

I know what you mean. Really, I do. But it just seems that, around here (when I say "here" I mean "here" as in my house), things are complicated, but the only quotes i can find that sorta describe my current situation, are never intirely accurate. This one is...I was surprized.

Yeah, everything has been done before.

I can tell you for a fact that New York is pretty dirty. Most of the sidewalks seem to stick to your shoes! Or, at least what I saw of them.

Actually, my favorite part was the "Now aren't you happy you read this," bit.

Yeah, the "aren't you happy," that's inspired. Ooh, you've been to NY... I'm so jealous. Did you see any of the museums? The Rose Planetarium? Have I mentioned I SO want to go there?

Well, not EVERYTHING,but still. It is hard to find a quote these days that you like, and actually fits your situation perfectly.

Rysade, I do believe that maybe one of the more perfect quotes!
Well, New York maybe dirty, but at least it has spice and life and places to go. My city? No. none of that. It is just downright boring. And absolutely filthy. If you visited it for he first time, you probably wouldn't notice it.
but, if you have lived here for around 6-7 years, like I have, you start to notice the vile stench that hangs in the air, everywhere you go. Yuo notice how the air kinda of....klings to you, and makes your skin feel soggy and trick you into feeling so crappy, it makes you look like old gray washed out porrige.
Oh, and don't even get me started on the PEOPLE here. They have no life! No spice! You walk down the street, and you get pushed into boring old buildings, by boring old people, who are rushing to their boring old jobs as pshychiatrists for people who need help because [ha HA! You guessed it!] THEIR LIVES ARE SO BORING!!!!!
Man....Wheew. Thank you. I needed to get that out.

Heehee. Its funny that both of you guys (Birdhead and Rysade) like that last bit the best because, honestly, thats the point where I couldn't think of anything else semi-interesting to write, so I wrote that. Isn't it odd how things like that always seem to work out?

Oh, and rysade, since i am a girl, you would say
"Yes ma'm, that's a keeper." Not to be all feminist but, hey.

You know where I REALLLLLLYYYY wanna go? Is that planetarium where nita and Kit went in "High Wizardry". I want to see the meteroite and the stuffed dinosaurs. Oh, and the bathrooms. Just for, ya know, reference to what I think it looks like.

                            Man, long post. Sorry.
