Nguyet? I'm still wondering what Tuyet meant by his sister being "Burned out".

You remember that DD put paper dolls of the twychild in the paper doll topic, and said we'd find out who they were?

Actually, for some reason, I was thinking Darryl and the girl who Nita met at the Crossings, the one with Matt. I thought her name was given as Julie, but I just skimmed that scene, and can't find a name for her at all.
Just the FAQs, ma'am: Chat, Board and Books.

Just pointing out some serious forshadowing in WAT for AWOM...on page 541 when Dairine is talking to Roshaun's parents it says "There, around her neck, where it would stay, was the fat, round, gleaming emerald threaded on a single sentence in the Speech. It was not until a little earlier, when Dairine had a moment by herself, that she'd had time to read what that sentece was. She was determined not to think about it now. She'd just cry again."

WHAT COULD IT SAY??? I am a HUGE Dairine/Roshaun shipper so I have all of these theories zooming around my mind...anyone have an idea?

As for Kit/Nguyet...I'm not even sure if Nguyet is going to be okay...on page 509 it says "Kit glanced over his shoulder. Others were helping Nguyet. "I think she's okay," he said.
"No, she's not," Tuyet said. "I can feel it. Burned. Burned out."

I'm not sure exactly what that means, but my best guess is that it is NOT GOOD. Kit/Nguyet could absolutely still happen, but that quote is going to need some follow-up before we even learn of her health.

First off--Welcome to the forums, Kristina! I'm alida, one of a (now) good few Local Fanartists and first-class senior lurker. On behalf of all, I extend welcome (especially to the spoiler forum XD).

I wasn't actually seriously suggesting a Kit/Nguyet vibe...I just thought it was funny

As for the emerald--we've talked about that, and the general consensus is that it describes Dairine's relationship with Roshaun--which is why no-one's gonna see it but him.

        Again, a warmest welcome!

I Am The (Semi-Original) Roshaun Fan. Yay for Prince Unlikely!

Well, first of all I am so for D/R! No question about that. I'm still a little torn about Nita though...if it should be N/K or N/R, I'm not sure.

I thought several D/R parts were SO hilarious! Like the wardrobe thing with Dair (XDXDXD), and also how Roshaun's parents thought they were *ahem* (And of course D/R's flustered reaction to this ahahah)

I also thought the couple of times when Neets fell onto Sker'ret were funny. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what he meant though...there are two possibilities I can think of:
          1. Something to do with sex
          2. Maybe he might eat her??
I'm not really sure WHAT he was referring to, but it was really funny nonetheless.

First and Foremost: For the Dairine/Roshaun thing to work, she has to find Roshaun. (he's still alive, but missing, right? that's why he wasn't in Timeheart?) And if they were mindtouching, wouldn't it make it that much easier for her to find him?

I think Nita made her choice partially when she went to Ronan instead of Memeki, to save his live.

Ooh. What if Roshaun is trapped inside the stone now? AMAZING! Or something.

Rad, it was to do with sex. I've had that same conversation when I fell into one of my friends by accident. I liked the overtones on romance with this book. I think as they age, it just becomes more important. Speaking of which, if Ronan is 16, how old is Nita? 14? Stupid ages....

Yeah, on the very first page there's a mention of Neets being fourteen, which confused me because I thought by the time we got to Alone she was fifteen...but whatever. She was thirteen in SYWTBAW.

I have always hated Nita/Ronan. Always. Can't help it >_> I definitely prefer Nita/Kit (or my new pet crack!pairing, Nita/Sker'ret XD)
Other than that, Dairine/Roshaun - I liked this one even near the end of WH, but I really fell in love with them this time 'round. I also think Ronan/Carmela could be fun, too.
(And I'm still a Tom/Carl fan too, even though they weren't in this book very long at all XD *hides*)

I'm even more Nita/Ronan now. Uh huh. They've still got it. *sighs happily* I need to write more fic...

                    As for Dairine/Roshuan? Meant.To.Be. I'm convinced. They're adorable. I *love* a good "argumentative" couple. (See above *g*)

I don't think Nita/Ronan is still a possibility really. Didn't she sort of give Carmela 'permission' to go after him? At least, that's what I thought she did. Or maybe I'm somehow making scenes up in my brain because of wishful thinking. Hmmm *goes searching in the book*

'Yeah, okay,' Carmela muttered. But she shot Nita a sly look. 'See that? Hung up on my little brother as you unfortunately are, I got you to admit it. He is utterly hot.'
                        'I am not-'"

I think they were talking about Ronan...right? Why would Carmela admit that Kit was hot? O____O
I would never say that my brother is hot.

As for K/N...I hope it doesn't happen. There are too few close relationships that are entirely platonic. I always like the young wizard books because of the K/N friend relationship thing. (Still a N/Ronan fan)

Reboot: Yes they were talking about Ronan in that scene. Also, I found the scene where Nita tells Ronan that he's got her 'permission' to go after Carmela if he wants too.

                            Page 429, US Hardback Edition:

Then she has to grin a little bit herself. "Which is why the Powers have now sent you the greatest challenge of your life."

Ronan suddenly looked shocked, and glanced around him with a sudden guilty look of someone who's just been found out."What? What do you-"

Nita looked sidewise to where Carmela, having having finished up with another session of fussing over Ponch, was heading toward them. "She's all yours," Nita said, and turned away.
So I guess I wasn't hallucinating or just thinking wishfully, which is a bit of a relief since I have a couple of tests coming up and I can't afford to start mis-remembering things like that.

                              Ronan and Carmela, eh?

I mean, it's not that it wouldn't be interesting, it's just more that it would just freaking weird. Because Carmela is all pep and perky and attitude. And Ronan is dark and goth and attitude. So maybe they're like Dairine and Roshaun where they both become each others challenger. Isn't that what turned Ronan onto Nita in AWA in the first place? That she totally called him out anytime and the Irish girls didn't?

OK, to start off, this is my very first post in this forum, so bear with me.

Regarding Ronan and Carmela: I don't see how that will progress, because Ronan was only around in this book because the situation at hand was a universal thing (literally). He'll be going back to Ireland soon, won't he?

As for Kit and Nita, I've been rooting for that from the start; seriously, ever since Nita saw Kit drawing his spell diagram on the ground--or no, it was actually since the tree told her that another wizard was messing up the artwork of some other trees. Nita expressed distress when she heard that the other wizard was a boy; ever since then, I've thought they'd become more than friends. The last few lines of that first book seemed to confirm that, as did the bit of info Nita read in the manual in the third book (the bit about 'permanent partnership'). Anyway, if their relationship doesn't go any further, how will they stay as close and have serious relationships with others? Hearing what another is thinking, hearing their deepest thoughts is incredibly intimate. If they stay partners, which they had better do, how will, say, Nita ever feel close to her boyfriend/husband/whatever if she knows Kit's thoughts but has a much more limited relationship with another guy?

Roshaun and Dairine: wow. Yeah, I, uh, I had a 'precognition' regarding those two the minute he started giving her trouble. Honestly. It's really difficult for her, but she needs someone like that. She cares about him, but at the same time he drives her insane, probably because he's so much like her in the most annoying ways. Some of you have said that Carmela's comment about Nita's feelings for Kit meant it was probably true. Didn't Nita tell Kit that she thought what Dari felt for Roshaun was more than a crush?

Yeah, I know it's a lot, but that's how I am. I don't post unless I've got a lot of significant things to say.
