I purchased mine from www.prospectors.com.au. My friends and I all got them at the one time, so we saved on postage; they were approx AU$12-15 I think. You could try ebay; there's some like this one listed at the moment; and there seems to be a list of some of them on this US website. I don't know where or if you can buy them in shops over there - I don't know of any places here that stock them. They're not cheap, though

*raises and eyebrow at waterproof paper.... if only it had been in my backpack that time I spilled water all over one of my books....*

I have a space pen somewhere not with me... sadly... but I live in Houston... I suppose I can go to Space Center Houston and buy another one... been thinking of doing that anyway....

Willowtree, www, spacepen.ca is the official site Fisher pens. But depending on where you live, you might not have to order online. (Also it seems like they are more expensive.)

Here in Calgary, I've seen them at the Science Centre downtown (Telus ScienceLand? Bell World of Science? Large Corporation's Good Deed to the Community World? something like that) as well as at Livingston & Clavell in Kensington (probably the coolest toy store in the universe, btw).

I would EAT THE HELL outta that steak, then try to guilt the cow into dying just for being a cow. I'd be all "NOM NOM HEY COW YOU'RE NOT MEAT YET WHAT GIVES JERK" and then I'd glare and give it the silent treatment. Same goes for pigs and chickens... I would guilt a FLOCK of chickens into poultrycide in a heartbeat. "HEY YOU'RE A CHICKEN HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT"- Madhatte

Check out Fry's.com, I believe they sell them too...

I can't wait until I go there again, my Sister said she'd show me where they are, and I can get another one... I've been wanting one for a while now....

I know I'm on the other side of the planet, but here the places to get them are Myer (upmarket department store) and various specialist pen shops, although they are expensive. If you can purchase items from ebay (through either your own account, or a family member's, if you're not old enough), then it is a way to get them easily (and can be cheaper too).

use of spacepens in the books

(Incidentally, WHY don't we ever hear of Nita using a space pen after the first book? I would have thought that the capability to write underwater or in zero gravity would have come in handy in both deep and high wizardry.)
OK - so I found a reference to Nita using her spacepen on the moon in high wizardry. But that's it so far....

I was in staples one day, and I saw a space pen. I was with my mom, and she let me get it. I don't have much of a story, but my sister and I have been playing with it, testing to see what it writes on. It writes on everything we've tried, which is cool.
The one I got is a Fisher pen... they only had a couple of them there, so they might not be the easiest to find.
"And on he went, out of sight in unhurried grace; the true dark angel, the unfallen Destroyer, the Pale slayer who never really dies -- seeking for pain to end." Deep Wizardry, page 355 Listen, and I'll tell you a story... of the wind in the trees, and the sun, the moon and the stars... of all of Earth dancing

Didja try writing "on butter, on glass, and upside down," like in SYWTBAW?
Aw, I want a space pen. Maybe it would help me not fail tests, too!
...and as a side bonus, get swallowed by a white hole.

So it is official. Space Pens are magical.
I had an exam for my Soc421 Class, Social Theory. I had spent the week before studying and everything but felt that I needed a little extra luck. (Can you see where this is going?)
I took my Fisher Smithsonian Space Pen.
Not only did I get an A, but my 99 was the highest grade in the class.

I am taking every essay test with that pen now.

                                Well done Illiriam

Space Pens are very cool, but don't lose heart, estar - if you're using pencil, then you're using a Russian space "pen"

(I know, I know... that that urban legend has been debunked, but I still like the story. More here)

Part of me is thinking of getting one for field work (I might be doing exploration geology), but then most of the stuff I'll be doing will be going straight into a toughbook, so I might not be able to find an excuse... Although, It could do to have a backup in case the battery goes flat.
